On the positive side, the flavors themselves were solid overall. The icing was tasty, and while the cake was decent, it leaned a bit dry, which was already giving us pause given this was meant to showcase their best work. What really ended the conversation for us was a major quality issue. Two of the icing sample balls each had a very long hair in them. It was immediately noticeable and extremely off-putting. At that point, we lost confidence and couldn't bring ourselves to continue sampling, let alone consider trusting them with something as important as a wedding cake. Since I wanted to order on Monday for Weds afternoon pick up I had to call, because it appears they typically require at least 48 hours notice to order online. I love this place. Placed our order for our free one year anniversary cake of the top tier of our 3-tier wedding cake and they couldn't have done a better job. It was moist, delicious, and beautiful. We really thought we would be given something that was quickly whipped up as a second thought, but we were pleasantly surprised. While we were there we also picked up a peanut butter brownie, chocolate chip cookie, and hot chocolate. The brownie was incredible and highly recommended. The only issue is the cake was just slightly above the level that I would expect from a grocer's bakery. I would compare it to the quality of cake that would be served at a wedding. Looks better than it tastes. We ordered a vanilla buttercream cake for my son's birthday. The texture of the cake was dense and a bit sandy. This day I was a little indecisive on the flavor of the cake I was going to choose. I ended up getting a vanilla and chocolate mix because my other plans for a cake didn't work. Both women who assisted me and we're very patient with me and I told them to help others until I chose the right one. The store has two different cases one for whole cakes and slices of cake. While the other had brownies, cookies, and cupcake oh my! Blue Moon also has a variety of beverages you can get with your pastry or lunch. If you need cookies for a holiday party Once Upon Blue Moon has you covered with gingerbread men and holiday cookies. If you get a cake they can add holiday sayings while you wait! We showed them photos of what we were thinking and they pulled it off wonderfully. I wish I still had the original inspiration photo we showed.
