Goodies to go...left = Bee Sting and right = Prinzregententorte. Dec 2024
    Chip R.

Bottom line: I enjoyed my early morning cheese danish/coffee stop recently at Annelore's German Bakery, as well as the Bee Sting and Prinzregententorte pastries/cakes purchased for later. Nice open bakery shop, clean and bright, with many appetizing selections in the long display case to choose. Good service encountered. The Deets: Looking for a change in breakfast, I stopped by Annelore's German Bakery recently near downtown Cary. Stepping inside, the bakery is bright, open, and very clean with a nice display case area with the counter/register as well as limited seating available. On the latter, there appears to be ample space for more seating in the shop but gives the feeling it is limited by design as the sign on the door indicates that dine-in visits should be limited to one hour "so that future guests may have available seating." I was in the mood for a cheese danish for breakfast so ordered one with coffee and enjoyed there at the bakery. I also ordered a couple of pastries to take home as well, choosing the Prinzregententorte and Bee Sting to enjoy a bit later. The cheese danish was good, being flaky but crisp outside with a soft inside with nice cream cheese filling. Having the Bee Sting pastry a bit on in the day, I enjoy its very light texture and creamy center along with the slight crunch of the topping. However I have to say I most enjoyed the Prinzregententorte the most. This cake, named for a past Bavarian prince regent, is composed of several layers of sponge cake with chocolate buttercream icing on top and between each layer...my kind of cake! Service was good while ordering at the counter, and it was nice that upon leaving they thanked me for my visit as I walked out. Annelore's German Bakery made for a pleasant morning danish and coffee stop, I enjoyed the cake/pastries purchased for later that day also, definitely a positive experience.

Almond orange cake and almond florentine. Both gf.

They have many gluten free options, but you do have to ask, they aren't all labeled in the case. Try the roulade! It's gluten free and so good. Kind of pricey but worth it.

Exceptional pastries and bread! The service was top notch, selection of items extensive and the taste of the apple strudel and torte purchased were stellar. Bought some bread to take home for lunch. The only negative is I live 40 minutes away.

Chocolate pistachio shortbread - soo good!!

What a wonderful bakery! This was my first time stopping in. I wanted to try everything! I got a selection of both savory and sweet: Spinach & Feta Turnover Mushroom Turnover Potato, Bacon an cheese turnover Blackberry Forest cookie Gingerbread cookie Chocolate pistachio shortbread Almond Florentine Raspberry Cheesecake (my favorite!) The Mushroom Turnover was my favorite of the savory pastries. My husband liked the Potato Bacon one. The only thing I didn't love was the gingerbread cookie. I thought it was a bit dry, but my friend said it is a traditional German gingerbread cookie whereas I'm conditioned for the very sweet and chewy version. The raspberry cheesecake is amazing!! The Almond Florentine cookie was my favorite of the cookies! Yummm!!!

    A little bit of everything

Everything was of superb quality. The texture and moisture of the pastries were exceptional. The flavors were great, ordering the Black Forest cake I was worried it might be too sweet but they put the right amount of sugar where the sugars do not overpower each bite. A small personal preference: their empanada fillings were uneven as it seems to be their style to not mix the contents, but I know that is just personal preference. Having tried almost half their menu (going back for a second round of pastries) I would recommend almost everything especially their ham and cheese croissant. The best ham and cheese croissant I have ever had! The workers were also very helpful and informative.

TLDR: Beautiful shop full of neat, organized German treats. I've tried their products before at the Triangle Oktoberfest and passed by the bakery in the past. I finally planned a trip to the bakery. I parked right out front and was greeted upon entering. The store is spacious with ample seating and natural light. The large display case is neatly organized with a variety of German treats. Everything is labeled with the name of the item and price. After looking at all the mouthwatering options, I chose the apfel kuchen, Black Forest cookie, and blueberry turnover. Although not as flavorful as I hoped, the Black Forest cookie was good. It would have been better if paired with coffee or tea, which they do sell. I gave the other treats to coworkers and they loved them! In the past I have tried the pretzels and pfeffernusse cookies, which were good, but a bit dry and the pfeffernusse had too much cinnamon for my taste. Similar to the cookie, the pfeffernusse would have been better if paired with coffee or tea. It is pricy, yet comparable to similar bakeries in Cary. They also sell some alcoholic beverages. Overall, these German desserts make a lovely gift or occasional treat.

My son got his B-Day sweets here and both my son and my wife really enjoyed it. The owner was also super nice to my autistic son!

My cake was too pricey over $100.00 for a 10" cake and was bland & dry and I was very dissappointed.

Is it expensive? How much for a slice of cake? No price on website.

They're not cheap but worth it, as they use top quality ingredients. It's definitely in the taste! Everything I've had there is amazing. I recall a piece of pastry cost about $4 or $5. They all vary of course but if you appreciate authentic German…

Does this place have seating and WiFi?

Neither at the present time. However they plan to add seating in the next couple of months. I don't think they plan on adding WiFi.

I was…read moreso excited to learn we had a Paris Baguette in the area after visiting the VA Beach location about 3 weeks ago. I was headed out to my cousins house not far from there and thought I would scoop up a few things for us to snack on. I knew I wanted the fruit tarts and they are pure perfection in my opinion-I bought 4 in total-I ate one the second I got into the car and the rest were had later in the day. I also wanted to try some of their savory options as when I was there a few weeks ago, they were sold out of the ham and cheese croissant and was really excited to give it a try, and wow it was worth the wait! I also got a pepperoni pizza and some sort of pastry with a hot dog in it. We cut each of the savory options into third so we could sample each item. Everything about the ham and cheese croissant was pure perfection and was the favorite of all three of us! I hate that I didn't take any photos of the building-the outside was nothing special but pastries were beautifully displayed and they had so many options to choose from! The rest room wasn't super tidy, but it was bad either-it was a very busy Sunday afternoon! Now to breakdown the customer service piece that prevented me from giving y'all a perfect score, please do better! I was not greeted when it was my turn, in fact there were two people at registers and after both finished they both walked away without saying anything. So, I stood there and waited and at this point no one was behind me. I don't recall the name of the young man that checked me out. I said hello and asked how do I sign up for their rewards program? I'm not sure he understood my question. I asked again and he told me that I had to sign up for it. There seemed to be a disconnect so I just asked if I could sign up for it later and get credit for the large purchase I was making and all he said was he would give me a receipt. He rang up my pastries and I then asked if he could package the sweet and savory items separately and he seemed annoyed. I also ordered myself an iced chai and he seemed bothered that I wanted a drink. At this point there was a really long line of people and he was not efficient in our encounter at all. I truly believe customers service makes or breaks and experience and sadly, this guy missed the mark after I spent $40+! I'm hoping he was just having an off day.

This location nails the bakery-café experience. The space is bright and polished -- coffered…read moreceilings, classic black-and-white bistro chairs, penny-tile floors, and a navy "Freshly Made to Make Your Day" wall that ties it all together. Seating is genuinely plentiful: a full dining room of marble-top tables inside plus a large fenced patio out front shaded by trees and umbrellas. Easy to grab a spot whether you're solo with a laptop or meeting a group. The pastry case is where the variety really shows off. Beyond the expected croissants, almond pastries, and fruit danishes, there's a deep savory lineup -- the Pastry Frank, Hot Dog Roll, Bourdin Garlic Cheese Quiche, and a Pepperoni Pizzetta among them. The standout (and most photogenic) was the hot dog roll: a whole frankfurter wrapped in glossy bread, crowned with crispy panko, ketchup-mustard drizzle, and a sprinkle of parsley. Equal parts strange and delicious. Plenty of room, plenty to choose from, and consistently solid quality. A reliable spot for a coffee, a pastry, or a savory bite.
