Stopped into this bakery on a whim driving by. Very clean interior, and the bakery case had plenty to choose from. I purchased the honeycomb and it was very tasty. I wouldn't say that the service was over the top. She did wait patiently as we looked at everything for quite some time and checked us out, but never did offer up any suggestions or help as to how things taste or what we might want to try. This was not necessarily a negative, but if you're in question, you will need to speak up and ask first.

Goodies to go...left = Bee Sting and right = Prinzregententorte. Dec 2024

Bottom line: I enjoyed my early morning cheese danish/coffee stop recently at Annelore's German Bakery, as well as the Bee Sting and Prinzregententorte pastries/cakes purchased for later. Nice open bakery shop, clean and bright, with many appetizing selections in the long display case to choose. Good service encountered. The Deets: Looking for a change in breakfast, I stopped by Annelore's German Bakery recently near downtown Cary. Stepping inside, the bakery is bright, open, and very clean with a nice display case area with the counter/register as well as limited seating available. On the latter, there appears to be ample space for more seating in the shop but gives the feeling it is limited by design as the sign on the door indicates that dine-in visits should be limited to one hour "so that future guests may have available seating." I was in the mood for a cheese danish for breakfast so ordered one with coffee and enjoyed there at the bakery. I also ordered a couple of pastries to take home as well, choosing the Prinzregententorte and Bee Sting to enjoy a bit later. The cheese danish was good, being flaky but crisp outside with a soft inside with nice cream cheese filling. Having the Bee Sting pastry a bit on in the day, I enjoy its very light texture and creamy center along with the slight crunch of the topping. However I have to say I most enjoyed the Prinzregententorte the most. This cake, named for a past Bavarian prince regent, is composed of several layers of sponge cake with chocolate buttercream icing on top and between each layer...my kind of cake! Service was good while ordering at the counter, and it was nice that upon leaving they thanked me for my visit as I walked out. Annelore's German Bakery made for a pleasant morning danish and coffee stop, I enjoyed the cake/pastries purchased for later that day also, definitely a positive experience.

Almond orange cake and almond florentine. Both gf.

They have many gluten free options, but you do have to ask, they aren't all labeled in the case. Try the roulade! It's gluten free and so good. Kind of pricey but worth it.

Exceptional pastries and bread! The service was top notch, selection of items extensive and the taste of the apple strudel and torte purchased were stellar. Bought some bread to take home for lunch. The only negative is I live 40 minutes away.

Chocolate pistachio shortbread - soo good!!

What a wonderful bakery! This was my first time stopping in. I wanted to try everything! I got a selection of both savory and sweet: Spinach & Feta Turnover Mushroom Turnover Potato, Bacon an cheese turnover Blackberry Forest cookie Gingerbread cookie Chocolate pistachio shortbread Almond Florentine Raspberry Cheesecake (my favorite!) The Mushroom Turnover was my favorite of the savory pastries. My husband liked the Potato Bacon one. The only thing I didn't love was the gingerbread cookie. I thought it was a bit dry, but my friend said it is a traditional German gingerbread cookie whereas I'm conditioned for the very sweet and chewy version. The raspberry cheesecake is amazing!! The Almond Florentine cookie was my favorite of the cookies! Yummm!!!

    A little bit of everything

Everything was of superb quality. The texture and moisture of the pastries were exceptional. The flavors were great, ordering the Black Forest cake I was worried it might be too sweet but they put the right amount of sugar where the sugars do not overpower each bite. A small personal preference: their empanada fillings were uneven as it seems to be their style to not mix the contents, but I know that is just personal preference. Having tried almost half their menu (going back for a second round of pastries) I would recommend almost everything especially their ham and cheese croissant. The best ham and cheese croissant I have ever had! The workers were also very helpful and informative.

My cake was too pricey over $100.00 for a 10" cake and was bland & dry and I was very dissappointed.

Ask the Community - Annelore's German Bakery

Is it expensive? How much for a slice of cake? No price on website.

They're not cheap but worth it, as they use top quality ingredients. It's definitely in the taste! Everything I've had there is amazing. I recall a piece of pastry cost about $4 or $5. They all vary of course but if you appreciate authentic German…

Does this place have seating and WiFi?

Neither at the present time. However they plan to add seating in the next couple of months. I don't think they plan on adding WiFi.

The cranberry lemon muffin was absolutely perfect, so much flavor, so fresh & moist. The Salted Brown Butter Latte was the best. From the first sip to the last drop, I loved it. I sat on a small section of a very comfortable couch with pillows and all. I later sat out front on one of the benches. They also have a patio seating out back. This particular morning, I knew I wanted to stop by Trader Joe's afterward, but they weren't open yet. So I pulled up the map looking for a coffee shop where I could get a little coworking done. Thousand Hills Coffee popped up, and it had been on my "need to try" list for a while. I also shot my buddy KH a quick text to see if he wanted to join me and catch up on our latest ultra running training shenanigans. Thankfully, he was game. I rolled in around 8:30 a.m. and managed to grab a decent parking spot. Worth mentioning because the coffee shop shares parking with the apartment complex next door, so I imagine spaces can disappear quickly. KW arrived a few minutes before me and had to park a bit farther away. Walking inside, I immediately liked the vibe. It feels modern but still cozy, almost like someone's really well-designed living room. There are several distinct seating areas, plenty of soft chairs, a long community table, and even bar seating overlooking the baristas. It struck a nice balance between coffee shop and comfortable workspace. Since I'd already knocked out my morning run, I was ready for a little breakfast. KH and I both ordered the cheese, Danish. It looked huge in the display case, though it shrank a bit once it made it onto the plate. That said, it was really flavorful and definitely worth ordering. I also grabbed a regular drip coffee, which was excellent. My timing was amusing because they had just finished the last pot and were brewing a fresh one, but honestly, getting a fresh cup probably worked out for the best. We grabbed chairs next to the long community table instead at the table since the morning sun was already heating things up. We spent a while catching up, talking running, races, and all the usual endurance athlete nonsense. After KH headed out, I relocated to the long table that was in the shade and spent another hour or so catching up on emails and getting a little work done. It turned out to be a great co-working spot with plenty of room to spread out without feeling like you were taking up space. One last shoutout to the staff, who were genuinely friendly and welcoming throughout my visit. Good coffee is one thing, but great people always make the experience better. Overall, I came away impressed. Somehow, they've been open for about two years, and I'm honestly not sure how they managed to stay off my radar for so long. Safe to say they'll be making it into my regular rotation whenever I need a good cup of coffee and a comfortable place to get some work done.

It took some time to find parking as the surrounding parking lots were full, but I found street parking around the corner. The ambiance is warm and cozy. Overall, the little coffee shop is cute and has a little bit of outdoor seating which I liked but is expensive for being so mid in my opinion. I ended up paying almost $7 for a blueberry latte. Overall, my latte tasted like a regular latte, even though it did have a seasonal blueberry syrup added to it. I know that blueberry is very light in flavor compared to coffee so I asked for more than the allotted amount of syrup and their response was that they had a certain amount added to of syrups added. So I said ok thinking they would take that into consideration but when I got my coffee, guess the amount they added didn't matter because it tasted the same as a latte regular. Unfortunately, at the end of my coffee (like the last 20%) had what I assume to be bits of berry in it? The texture made me toss the remaining amount. With the high prices and the location right on a busy street / no parking I probably wouldn't be back but I did enjoy being about to sit outside under an umbrella and the service was nice / fast. All the stars would go to the servers and overall cleanliness honestly.

Small selection in comparison to Preston Corners location, but still good quality. Delicious bakery items as you would expect from La Farm and very friendly helpful staff encountered here. The Deets: I had the chance to go by this location of La Farm Bakery near downtown Cary on Chatham St a couple of times during the past holiday season. I had walked over first to see about getting some gift baskets shipped to friends for the holidays but found out upon entering that they only handle shipping at the Preston Corners/Cary Parkway location. I was surprised as this location had such a large footprint with being the size of a grocery store but most of that size is used for the actual baking/storage itself it appears. The bakery service/cafe at this location is pretty small but nice and clean, with the only sitting area only outside with no actual inside seating to enjoy any purchases. There is not a dedicated inside sit-down cafe experience here. The actual selections on the shelves available seem in less volume than say their Preston Corners location (on my second visit here I wound up going to Preston Corners again for the items I wanted for a holiday party I was to attend). The same, still delicious, baked items in their display case as well as coffee/beverages are available here and still as enjoyable which earns most of their four stars here. Luckily the second visit I made here was on a warmer day so the outside seating could be utilized if you wanted to eat there. Another reason for their four stars here is the great positive attitude and friendly demeanor of the staff here. Even though they could not help me with my shipping of gift baskets on the first visit when I inquired, I was offered coffee while I waited for my ride share to take me to the Preston Corners location and that was greatly appreciated. The small cafe at the downtown Cary of La Farm Bakery is a nice stop for bakery items and goodies but for more of the full "La Farm experience" for gifts etc. then you may want to start out at the Preston Corners/Cary Parkway location. I may have had more of a 3.5 star full experience here, they get to those 4 stars with the deliciousness of the La Farm baked goods and the friendly helpful staff I encountered.
