Having been here a few times and Asali is always amazing! Asali is a family-run spot offering Mediterranean treats and Middle Eastern-inspired coffee and tea. The space is fairly large and they stay open late (until 11 PM on weekends), making it a great place to hang out with friends or stop by to satisfy a sweet tooth during a night out. I've purchased their macarons as gifts, tried several desserts here and to-go, grabbed coffee and stayed to do work, and even stopped by for lunch. Their light bites are quite tasty, and I especially enjoy their phyllo-dough pastries. Their latte options are great--the flavors are creative yet still approachable, and the syrup options are delicious. Service is attentive and efficient. There's always a big team behind the counter, and instead of calling names, they give you a number and bring food or drinks directly to your table, which is so thoughtful! They can get quite busy at times - lots of families and big groups stop by to hang out. I enjoy the community it brings, though sometimes this is not the most ideal place to get work done. Searching for Mille Feuille or Napoleon cake and after reading reviews, we decided to come to Asali. Ambiance was just average, lots of people working and studying occupied most tables, service is friendly, the Napoleon seemed to be old with strange texture with no flavor, my husband ordered a cheese cake and said the same thing. The only good thing was the tea, a little more than the regular Lipton black tea. Updating my review since I have been to Asali numerous times now. Each visit is magical and the desserts are absolutely gorgeous (and tasty). Plus their drinks are incredible and the employees are efficient and friendly. Usually at a cafe I prefer either the drinks or the food. Here I can't decide which I like more and they have so many options to pick from. From divine baklava to decadent chocolate tarts and towering cakes paired with flowering teas and matcha lattes. Most recently I had my favorite chocolate tart with a pistachio saffron matcha latte. The latte was definitely the star and the saffron came through even when competing with the other strong flavors. Located in a nice spot, lots of parking. When you walk in you see a gorgeous array of desserts. Friendly service albeit slow. Lots of seating, open and bright. Prices were quite high in my opinion and the mousse tarts whole gorgeous, were difficult to eat the tart part. Very hard to cut into. As for the coffee, I was underwhelmed. It was only lukewarm. And, while latte art isn't super important, it was not impressive. The flavor was ok, but with it not being hot it wasn't excellent. I'd give the coffee another try and maybe a different dessert. There are soooo many amazing options at Asali! I had a peach pastry while my mom chose an almond blueberry confection. They were both delicious! There are plenty of tables in the staff were friendly and attentive. I also have to mention that the bathroom was really nice! Its been a while since I wanted to try this cafe out. I keep on hearing great reviews about it. This week, I got the chance to go. I had lunch before this so I was so full so didnt try much on the menu. They offer a great amount of pastries selections to pick from the menu;fruit tarts, marshmallow meringue, lemon bars, macaroons, vanilla bean with fruits danish, flan, dubai strawberry chocolate cup, gluten free creme brulee, lemoncello, kiwi tres leches, rice pudding and cakes like strawberry lemonade, lemon, carrot, orange creamsicle, chocolate rasberry, bavarian chocolate chips, strawberry creamcheese, almond and dulce de leche ( variety of cheesecakes:dubai, piatachio,knafeh, lotus biscoff).. The modern look middleastern cafe is super clean,good size,and its tranquil atmosphere will leave you refreshening. I ordered the combination baklava( pistachio and walnuts), the cheese Knafeh and a cup of capuccino. The capuccino is made just right,the way its suppose to be made. The latte art was a beautiful bonus to the drink. We dont have much cafes in NC that does premium arts(flower and swan)on latte like this cafe. The balava is how I like mines to be made( not too sweet, crispy and not too wet full of syrup). The Knafeh with cheese is just soo delicous have not tried this before but will order again. The knafeh is made up of shredded pastry dough and stuffed with cheese( with melted butter or ghee)baked. You pour a tiny glass of sweet syrup water on top while hot. Sometimes its garnished with crushed pistachio or other kinds of nuts. The staff are very welcoming,informing and service is one of the best for a cafe. I arrived early to an appointment, so went down the road to grab a cuppa and something sweet. Asali hit the spot. Open and airy, with a huge glass case full of amazing treats and cakes to the left as you enter, you are immediately three times hungrier for sweets! I ordered Pistachio Baklava and a cappuccino, as one does at 1:30 on a random Tuesday. I quickly got on their wifi to check messages and such, and the food and drink were ready and on my table inside two minutes. I love a place that defaults to reusable plates and silver, and thinks to serve a spoon with your cappuccino. (I had requested a bit of cinnamon, and they dusted it perfectly.) I started to sit at one of the high bars around the perimeter, where the shades were drawn over the windows, but this left my legs exposed to the sun, so I moved further inside and sat at a four-top faux-granite-topped table in a lucite armchair. Since it was quiet, I didn't feel bad. No one was waiting for a seat. There were five ladies of various generations and a young man having a high tea in one corner, which looked amazing. I love having tea in a place where it is done well. There were little cakes and sandwiches on tiered trays and several pots of tea. Made me wish I had folks who like this practice. I ate my delicious baklava slowly, savoring the honey, nuts and cinnamon and the crisp flakiness of the phyllo. The coffee was smooth, slightly strong, and bitter enough that the milk almost couldn't temper it. Almost. If you're wanting a pleasant afternoon experience, I strongly recommend braving the horrible traffic and parking gauntlet of dodging huge SUVs in small parking places that is Edinburgh in Cary and try out Asali. You may want to get a second cuppa, if you have the time. You'll have to fight your way out of the lot, too. read more

I also had an iced hazelnut latte. The scone was not the best. Lacked the scone consistency. The coffee cake was good but very sweet. The latte lacked flavor. They ran out of hazelnut so I got a bit of vanilla added. Overall it was a place I'd visit again to try some of the other treats. The staff were young and couldn't answer some of my questions. I just happened to be in the area and found this place, and boy am I pleased! Such a cute spot. The large windows make it light and bright, and the decor is cute. Perfect for teleworking. They had an amazing selection of pastries and desserts. My favorite was the macar-oops: discounted macaroons because they turned out a little funky. I didn't grab one this time but will definitely be back to grab em masse. I ended up getting the cafe latte and blueberry lemon scone. As I perused the selections, I saw some more European-style items, several local flavors, and some things that indeed were redolent of the Middle East. It was a tough choice, and given my chocolate craving I compromised for a chocolate cake with cinnamon and pistachio with coconut shavings on top. I ordered an unsweetened tea for balance. The cake was as luxurious as one might expect, and the nuts did notably shift the flavor to a distinctive realm. My tea offered a needed bitter flavor contrast. I love Asali and come often for their strawberry cake. They are a super cute, clean, and beautifully presented cafe with so many different options for desserts, coffee, and pastries. Despite having a quality looking espresso machine, they made a pretty awful cappuccino. It's my experience that for some reason in this country too many baristas love to add a lot of milk to drinks like cappuccinos. I don't know if that's really what the people are hoping to receive when they spend a fortune on these drinks, but that's what they get, and this place is no exception. Quite disappointed really, that an 8 ounce cappuccino that comes with two shots of espresso is still being milked up to this extent. Anyway, to make a palatable drink I asked them for another shot of espresso or something just to make it not so milky. And in all reality, a good coffee shop would've just given me the espresso or remade the drink. Doing this doesn't cost much and I would've walked away with good feelings about them as an establishment. Rather, I was charged $3.25 for said espresso shot. So, now almost $8 later I've got a drink that I can enjoy somewhat. Ultimately, I was put off by the attitude of the people working there. Despite that it seems like a pretty popular place that is well reviewedband why I even went there in the first place, here is just another establishment that makes cappuccinos as bad as Starbucks. read more

Asali is very popular in the Raleigh area and rightfully so. My friend and I decided to grab a casual cup of coffee and some snacks. We tried the monkfruit vanilla latte, hazelnut latte, coffee cake, tiramisu, zataar pie and hummus and chips. The food was great! They have so many pastry options, it was so hard to choose. The ambience is very chic and the service is fast. The coffee shop is almost always crowded but they still do well in terms of service times and cleanliness.
