Carnitas, a little too dry, with skinny marg
    Veronique C.

3 1/2 stars The restaurant seems busy on weekends and it's too bad there is no bar to wait until you can get a table (no reservations). The atmosphere is fine, nothing fancy, and the menu offers a nice selection of standard Mexican dishes. Some plates might work better than others; I had the Carnitas, and the meat was dry, my husband thought his enchilada was just okay, but one of our friends who got the steak Chicano found it tasty. The house marg is a little too sweet for me (and weak), but the skinny one was good. Even though I was disappointed with my food, I would go back when in the area, since I am pretty sure I could find something on the menu I'd like better than last time.

The food was decent - we loved the shrimp and octopus in particular from my dish below in the front! The taco salad was okay and the tortilla crust was broken - presentation was the biggest issue here. The service was fantastic and the food came in a timely manner given that they are short-staffed and transparent about this. The decor and the saloon style tables made for a fun experience inside of the restaurant. The music and down-hill BMX playing in the background was awesome and a great addition to the liveliness of the place.

Very very average and kinda boring. If you absolutely love Mexican food, and you are insistent upon finding a Mexican spot, this is probably your best bet in the area as there's not many options to choose from. That said, it's nothing to write home about. It's extremely basic and un-authentic tasting Mexican food. The service happened to be amazing which is different from the most recent post that I've read, and the sangria was pretty delicious as well. The beans were tasty also but that's basically where it ends. None of the food was bad, and I have had bad Mexican food so average is acceptable in this case.

Delicious! I ordered the pork in chile verde with flour tortillas as well as the chips and salsa. I would absolutely get that again. Vibe was immaculate... friendly service, locals joshing with the staff. Clean space, fun time, good food.

Came here for dinner with a group of 9 on a Friday night around 6:45 pm. Lots of free parking in front of the building. We had to wait about 25 minutes and we got 2 separate tables. The workers were so nice and had a fun sense of humor and joked around with us. Free chips and salsa were refilled at our table very efficiently. I ordered the chicken fajita quesadilla for ~$13 and really enjoyed it. It was very filling and tasty. We also got a pitcher of margaritas and had a good portion to split between the 4 of us. Overall my group had an enjoyable experience!

We were craving authentic Mexican food and luckily found this gem on Yelp! You know the restaurant is for real when they have menudo on the menu. We had two delicious pork tamales for a starter and then ordered two dishes we were craving. The Pozole soup was a very generous portion with a lot of tender pork. The star of the show for me was the chicken in mole sauce. The mole sauce is the best I've ever had! The plate comes with refried beans, rice, and warm tortillas. We ate so much yet still had to have dessert. The flan was a delicious choice. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cozy and the service was super friendly. We will definitely be back!

I love Azteca! That is all! They are kind and welcoming. They have a huge menu and I've liked everything I have ordered over my 9 years up here. That's the review!

I'd actually give it 4.5 out 5. Service was excellent, food was served hot and fresh. I ordered the steak quesadillas and they were average, but the other 2 with me really enjoy their plates. Lastly the Azteca margarita was as good as it gets in strength and the use of fresh lime juice. We are here for a week and we will be back for more.

Our server pretty much ignored us after taking our order. Over all it was over priced for mediocre food. I would not eat here again.

The place was absolutely packed, which told me everything I needed to know. The hostess let us know only patio seating was available, but that worked out fine since it was noticeably quieter than the bustling dining room. I started with a medium margarita, chips, and salsa. That margarita had some attitude, and it paired perfectly with the spicy salsa and salty chips. Let's just say I was feeling optimistic about the rest of the meal. The combination dinners are the way to go if you want to try a little bit of everything. I ordered the shredded beef chimichanga. The flavor was on point, but I wish the shell had a little more crunch. My dining companions ordered an enchilada and tacos with chicken and ground beef. I sampled the chicken and wasn't sold, but the ground beef earned rave reviews. Our server, Mariana, was friendly, attentive, and somehow managed to stay on top of everything despite the dinner rush. The decor has dark, gothic Mexico City vibes that give the restaurant a ton of character. Definitely a Fraser gem. It took me seven years to finally make it here, but next time I won't wait nearly that long.

Just surprisingly great Mex food that I would have never chosen but glad I didn't have a choice. Will go back.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful right from the start--especially when my wife was deciding what to order. They even suggested the option of getting a half burrito for half the price, which was a great tip and much appreciated. She went with the Mama's Burrito (with bacon), and I had the Christy Breakfast Burrito. We both had ours smothered in the green chile (pork) sauce--highly recommend. Both were excellent. The chorizo in the Christy was especially well done--full of flavor without being greasy. My wife loved hers, and the half portion ended up being perfect. We also had coconut lattes, which were smooth and really well balanced. Even though you order at the counter, the staff checked in on us several times, which added a nice personal touch. The space is bright and welcoming with lots of natural light. It's in a strip mall, but being on the end gives it a more open feel. The Southwest, slightly kitschy décor fits the vibe well. We noticed a steady stream of regulars and to-go orders, which says a lot. Places don't stay busy--or around this long--without doing things right. If you're anywhere near Granby, this place is absolutely worth a stop.
