I'll start with the food - the food is delicious! The combinations are a great deal, and you even get a ton of food with the "small" combinations. The drinks are okay (standard Mexican restaurant margs), and they're fairly priced as well. The service is so incredibly slow, although very friendly. We came in with a fairly large group, but we made a reservation well in advance, so the staff was aware and had tables set up for us already. It took more than 20 minutes just to get waters brought to our table despite there only being 2-3 other parties seated in the restaurant. The food and bar drinks were also incredibly slow to come out once we finally placed our order. I'm glad the food was enjoyable, but I wouldn't recommend coming here with a larger group. read more

This was a let down today Mother's Day. We took my in-laws . The service was slow like snails pace. Others had seated after us and served before us. The food took over an hour. Because they forgot about us. Then the food was mediocre. This has not been the case in the past it's been very good. The stall is always friendly and is always clean. As a lover of all things taco related,I was excited for what looked like authentic Mexican restaurant . the ambience was amazing but unfortunately the food fell short. What a great find! Walking down the street and on a whim decided to get some lunch. They had curbside seating and it was a nice day. Serendipitous you might say, the food was delicious! Well....it's certainly a cute place and the outdoor seating is nice. The chips and salsa are delicious. Chips are fresh and crispy and the salsa has a good kick! The server was certainly nice and I have nothing negative to say in that regard. However, that's where the positives end...that's a lot of positives though so there's that... I ordered the cheese enchiladas with black beans and rice. My go to is always cheese enchiladas because if they can't get that right than what's the point?!? This dish just tasted like corn mush covered in very strong red ranchero sauce. I didn't really even see any cheese in the enchiladas. Zero flavor, zero texture...the black beans aren't fully cooked. What a bummer. I ate less than half a corn mush enchilada and will send it away.... Cute places to eat up in Idaho Springs...I'll head somewhere else next time! read more

The waitress was very kind and since we are traveling with 2 chihuahuas, they said we can bring our pups inside also. Dog friendly day is a super plus status star! But we chose to stay outside since it is nice and why not? The drinks are really good and rhe salsa is so authentic! I am latino so I should know this. I thought it was awesome that since we have our pups the chef decided to make them beef with no seasonings. This really makes me smile and also that since we are outside and it's getting chilly, the waitress brought out a heater for us. Wow, that's what you call an awesome restaurant. We went to this place to eat after we had visited st.Mary's Glacier. The food is very fresh and it is absolutely delicious. It is located on the Main Street of restaurants andI would definitely recommend to get their smothered burritos. They have very friendly staff and excellent service. The only complaint was that the non Mexican food (nuggets and fries) was spongy and wasn't very good according to my daughter. In any case it is a Mexican restaurant and their Mexican food was awesome. They had multiple booths and a bar that you could sit as well and great atmosphere. I will definitely come back next time I am heading that way. read more

We happened about this cute Mexican resturant in Idaho springs randomly and decided to try it out with my family. We used to live in Mexico so we have higher expectation of good Mexican food. The interior is Clean and the waitresses are very nice. service was quick and they took our orders quickly. we decided to get the menudo, tacos, margaritas and a shrimp and octopus cocktail dish. The margaritas were decent size for the price! The tacos were very fresh and honestly it reminded my family of the Mexican street taco which is super yummy. I am honestly surprised to find good Mexican food in the middle of a small town but it was good! After hiking up St Mary's Glacier my hiking companion and I found our tummies grumbling. So we made our way to good ol' Idaho Springs and straight to Azteca Mexican Restaurant for some tasty Mexican eats! ATMOSPHERE: The space is great! There's plenty of booths (cute ones with wooden adornments at that) and tables, exposed brick throughout, even a cute bar tucked towards the back. SERVICE: Our server was very attentive. He kept our waters full, gave us ample time to browse the menu, and ensured that we received our chips and salsa promptly. DRINKS: While we didn't imbibe during our visit, they do feature a full bar and offer all the usuals you'd expect from a traditional Mexican restaurant (including sangria, margs, wine, and beers). EATS: We both happily noshed on the Azteca Burrito. It was delish and HUGE! A flour tortilla filled with pork, rice, refried beans, and our special burrito sauce with melted cheese. Topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, sour cream and guacamole. We both took about half home for later! I look forward to stopping back in to check out more of Azteca Mexican Restaurant's offerings during my next visit to Idaho Springs. read more

Wonderful service! Everyone was kind and attentive from beginning to end. I was pleased and slightly overwhelmed with the mountain of choices from the menu. They even had a whole section of healthy versions of popular dishes like enchiladas and quesadillas! I gave in to the less healthy options, so I ordered their shredded beef enchilada which was tasty and SO filling. I food coma'd the moment I sat into the car during the whole drive back to Denver.
