The staff are very polite and welcoming while taking your order and delivering food to your table. The laid back casual nature of the interior may not be everyone's jam but the food is stellar! When a friend recommends a local spot for tacos, I have to check it out. And I couldn't have asked for a better recommendation for tacos that hit the spot! This taco joint is legit--you order at a counter on one side, get your salsa bar fixings, and sit in the very colorful seating area while you wait for them to call out your order! While you wait (it's only a short wait!), you can look around the store area--so many goodies, produce, and meat offerings for you to take your pick from! My favorites are the carne asada and shredded beef tacos--you have the option of corn or flour tortillas (both look bomb!), and then you get to dress them up with anything you'd want from the salsa bar. I didn't get any dessert (so many regrets!), but there are a ton of desserts in the refrigerator in the seating area--flan and chocoflan looked amazing! This place is awesome. Half grocery store, half restaurant and they both offer some great authentic Mexican items. Lets start off with the food. You head to the back counter where you place your food order, and then you can head over to a table to sit and wait for the food to be ready. Once its ready, you head up to the counter to collect your food. The restaurant portion is real cute. They have some colorful tables and chairs which give it a nice Mexico vibe. Once you get your food, you can head over to the salsa bar and add all the additional toppings your heart desires. They have all kinds of sauces from spicy to mild and even have jalapenos and sliced radishes. I got an asada taco and a barbacoa taco and they were both delicious. But my favorite was the barbacoa. It had so much flavor and it was so juicy. I also got an horchata and it was perfect. One of the best I've had! A truly authentic Mexican place. It's half market where I found a lot of Mexican products where I can't find in regular stores and only find in Mexico. Just that is a plus. The other half of the place is the restaurant. It's more like a small cafe which delivers authentic vibes but very humble. Food was amazing. We had their tacos and I had the burrito which was huge and packed with beef, rice, beans and guacamole. I had it with the loaded sauce on top. So basically you order your food and pick up once you're called. We tried their horchata and it was so delicious. Just the right touch of sweetness. I am a big fan of finding solid food located in Ski towns where it usually is difficult to fan affordable and delicious food. Carniceria La Perla looked to be well liked by the Silverthorne community, so we decided to stop by on our way out of the mountains on a Sunday around noon. There aren't many spots immediately outside the restaurant as it was full when we arrived, but fortunately there are more spots in the nearby shopping area very close that are about a 2-3 minute walk away. The ambiance of the restaurant is exactly what I am looking for when I go to a small Mexican market/eatery - authentic food, music, and decorations throughout the entire restaurant. It feels like you are stepping into a small mom and pop store in Mexico to enjoy some delicious food. I got a couple of tacos, ranging from carne asada, barbacoa, and lengua. For each, taco they do pile the meat on as you can see in the photo, and you can try many different flavors before going back up and ordering more. They also have an extensive sauce bar that you can top your food with - though be warned if you can't handle spice, some of the sauces really do pack a punch in terms of heat! I think my favorite out of the meat options was the barbacoa - really moist, hearty, and comforting to eat on a cold day. I would say in terms of ranking Carniceria La Perla to other local restaurants, you can't get more authentic and tasty food in a mountain ski town. It does lean more pricey (you'll probably spend at least $15 - $20 for a meal here) compared to tacos I've had at other similar establishments, but I understand that they need to charge what they charge to make a living here in expensive Silverthorne. I would definitely come back in the future to try the other options they have to offer! read more

I thought I was in Mexico. The restaurant/grocery store is a hole-in the-wall. It's a little dirty. Isles are stuffed with random food items. Pinatas are hanging from the walls. There are piles of Mexican candies cluttering the counters. The guy in line in front of me ordered 10 dozen corn tortillas and told me it was "durante la semana." But... The food is authentic and outstanding. The staff are very friendly. Its noisy, busy, and a bit chaotic with ten people behind a quasi butcher counter taking orders, cleaning, prepping, and cooking. It's the best Mexican "taco shop" food I've had in Colorado. I highly recommend stopping in for a bite and the experience. read more

Such a great Mexican restaurant! Been here twice and both times haven't let me down. Got the carne asada smothered burrito this time and loved the steak in this! I love the salsa bar here - they have salsa for everyone! Their pickled onions and jalapeños were my favorite. The fresh refried beans and pre-seasoned pastor from the market was delicious and the workers were kind! I originate from New Mexico and we primarily live in Texas, being out here we miss the flavors of Mexican food and have had a hard time finding the easy staples. We were pleasantly surprised with these two items and are excited to go try more things they offer. Went in wanting a smothered burrito but couldn't resist the carnitas taco special (4 tacos for $12). Got a generous heaping of pork on a double layer of fresh corn tortillas with a quarter lime. Pork was a bit dry imho. Real hit is the salsa bar. 5 salsas, cucumber, radish, raw and pickled onions, roasted jalapeño. Was able to season up the tacos to my liking. Will go back for the smothered burrito. FYI - no alcohol service but a collection of Mexican sodas and a soda fountain. read more

I feel at home here. That is my Texas home, Houston. I am reminded of early places like Fiesta on North Shepherd, Airline foodie joints and Ninfa's on Navigation. Just moved to Frisco and have been desperately seeking out good Mexican food. Wow did we hit the nail on the head with La Perla. I'm a San Diego born kid and have indulged in Mexican Food all over the country from Southern CA to NYC for my entire life, always in search of the next best torta or al pastor taco. And La Perla holds up to any of the hole in the wall Mexican joints in California. We ordered the barbacoa burrito, carne asada tacos, and chicken floutas. Barbacoa burrito was great (and huge). The meat was shredded and super moist. Beans were well spiced. The carne asada tacos were really good. They were street taco style served on two corn tortillas with cilantro and onion. They were absolutely loaded with meat and it was tender and not overcooked. The floutas were solid as well. Nice and crunchy covered in melted cheese with side of rice and beans. They could have been a little more spiced so probably would go with something else next time. But overall still good. The salsas were also good. We got the verde, the guac, the smoked, and the orange. I don't know what the orange was but it was spicy AF. Guessing habanero. Highly recommend it. Being that its a pandemic I didn't really want to loiter around inside but from the short glance I did get this place has a really solid selection of Mexican products in the little mercado section. I saw packs of tostadas and a cooler of drinks and a whole section of chili mango candy and de la rosa and chamoy and the likes. And there were some prepared food. Will definitely be back next time I'm getting ingredients for chicken mole or some other cooking I plan to do. Overall really good and authentic CA/Tijuana style Mexican food. I went a little crazy and ordered a steak burrito, which was huge along with a shredded beef taco and a stuff poblano pepper.... Yes, it was a big meal and there was a to-go box where I stashed a future snack. Then there's the Mercado (store), full of all kinds of goodies; steaks, fish, spices, drinks, candy and my favorite... a row of hot sauces in all levels of heat. The carne asada is sooooo good. We ordered 5 of those tacos (based on Yelp reviews- thank you!) and then one chicken taco for our little, because she typically doesn't like beef tacos. Well, let me tell you, we were all fighting over the carne asada. Our little ate TWO carne asada tacos and wouldn't touch the chicken! (The chicken was good, but the carne asada was just incredible!) This place also has a salsa bar with lots of options. I was super happy about that because I love to try a variety of salsas. This place is legit. I grew up in California and these rival the best tacos there. And it's an amazing deal, especially for the area. I got 4 tacos and it was $13 including tip. I had to ask twice if he got my order for 4 and they were all there! I got the carne asada, lengua, carnitas and tripas- he asked if I wanted it medium or extra crispy?! I've never been offered an option, I went for extra crispy. This was just delicious- lengua was so tender, carne asada was cooked well, carnitas were just the right blend of crispy and fat. Today we came in for our favorite giant bowls of beef soup (caldo de res) respectfully sorry if spelling is wrong. So we each ordered the soup which we know from many previous bowls ordered here that we cannot possibly eat all of it in 1 sitting. I spotted these giant deep fried, batter covered items in the case. My eyes popped out of my head & I asked the cashier what they were, well Hello "Chile Rellenos." I immediately ordered 1. Our soups came out steamy & delicious, we couldn't stop raving about them as we slurped away. Then the most rich looking giant Chile rellenos was served topped with copious amount of shredded cheese & crema looking sauce generously covered the entire surface area. I thought that looks too rich and full of dairy there's no way I can have more than a couple of "eat to know" bites. Uh dead wrong, we started attacking it with zeal & completely forsaken our beloved caldo de res, until we devoured it and the plate was clean. Wowza that's good. The green chili was stuff with gooey cheese and the combination & proportions create the most delicious morsels. We could barely eat the soups & but they will make a most excellent lunch tomorrow. Don't let the looks deceive you - this is truly some of the best Mexican food I've been able to find in CO and you will not regret your visit.
