We have been long-term customers there, and tonight they had a young family situated next to us. The children screamed the entire time. My partner said "no" when the child came and threw a shoe at him. I went to explain to the parents of the child that my partner is disabled and has Epilepsy. They did not care And went on to tell me what horrible people we were. I'm not sure why the staff would put this family next to us when they knew he was disabled. Wow. So I was passing through, felt the urge for some Mexican fare. Spotted this place behind some construction and thought why not. Decor was fairly standard for a themed Mexican restaurant, music was standard (playing softly in the background), and service was fast and friendly. Like really fast, it took barely moments for me to be greeted, seated, and ordered. I decided to get one of the specials, the Azteca--how could I pass up steak, chicken, and shrimp with onions and cheese? This was possibly one of the best dishes I have ever had at a restaurant. It was filling, savory, cheesy, and gigantic. The portion was huge--ended up having enough for three meals as a takehome. It reheated well by the way. Fresh was best though, with all the flavors bright and punchy. For the price, this was an absolute steal! Breakdown: Price-5/5, Location-3/5, Decor-3/5, Food-5/5, Serving Size-6/5, Service-5/5. We never stopped in Eau Claire so we were on our way back at 3PM and needed a late lunch. Yelp took us to the place across the street and when we got there I wasn't up to a strip mall. I looked across the street and there was Azul. Just what I was looking for, a fancier sit down and I haven't had Mexican in ages. The menu is so vast I had no idea, so I settled on my old stand-by enchiladas verde and was glad I did. I loved the salsa and chips and it wasn't too spicy. We got guacamole, cause we always do. I saw the bowl and I said Is this the small? Beyond generous side. They don't skimp here at all. I had a taste of Basil's yummy chimichanga caribe loaded with seafood. I loved seeing a Mexican family give their seal of approval. Drinks were good, a raspberry iced tea for Basil and lime Jarrito for me. Great service. This is on the side with so many bars and burger joints. Was so glad I was led here. Definitely coming back. read more

This has been our go to Mexican restaurant for years. However while eating my leftover chicken chimichanga I bit into a quarter. It's one thing to find a stray hair in food, but I'm baffled at how a quarter could have been rolled into a tortilla unnoticed. read more

Free chips and salsa for the table (which many Mexican places don't do anymore sadly). We got chicken fajitas and chicken quesadilla because we weren't feeling super adventurous, but the rest of the menu looked very good as well. Not super expensive either! We are from Arizona and regularly visit both there and Texas but every time we come home we find ourselves craving Azul tequila. Easily the most outstanding Mexican food nationwide if you like authentic Mexican and spicy food! The street tacos as well as the Zarape are our favorite meals and cannot be compared to any other restaurant! Edit: I almost forgot to mention the margaritas! Always an excellent dining experience here at Azuls. The service is quick and efficient. Food is above the quality of Cancun's and the beverages ice cold and perfect. I love the Burrito Poblano- stuffed with steak or chicken, roasted poblano peppers and a avocado salsa on top. So Good! read more

The decor here is nice, the restaurant is usually nice and clean and the wait-staff are friendly. HOWEVER. I can't boast about their food. I've given Azul Tequila several shots, coming here alone and with a group of people, sampling various items on the menu, and I'm just never impressed. For how bland the food is, I could drive through Taco Bell for much cheaper. The prices are okay, but again, if you don't like the food, it's going to seem more expensive. Upon walking in, I was immediately impressed with the decor and ambiance of the restaurant. Fun decor and clean. The waitstaff was very friendly. Our waiter was prompt, friendly, and overall the service was excellent. The food was honestly like most Mexican cuisine at any mid price restaurant I have been to. The portions were perfect, not too much or too little. The Miami Vice Margarita was amazing! It was two for one deal which made things even better. Atmosphere like Chi-Chi's, but the food is not as good. They did a nice job with the interior - former Pondorosa which looks crappy from the outside but they have done nice things inside. However the food is strictly hot table mexican, and not very good. In fact, there beef taco's are not as good as Taco Bell - really, how can you suck worse than that? But they do have some other options that taste better than the Bell, and do have a full bar. Plus, it is really cheap for a sit down place. read more

They will always mess up your order, and it won't come out as quickly as it did a while ago. The food still tastes good, but not as good as it tasted a few years ago. Dinner last night was great, until we realized my daughter left her phone there. They were closed so we weren't able to contact them. 9:45am (over an hour before opening) my daughters phone pinged leaving the restaurant and has been traveling east out of town ever since. We confronted the staff and were told there was nothing they could do. CLEARLY a staff member or non-patron took the phone as it was taken before the restaurant opened. VERY DISAPPOINTED. read more

My family of 7 went to this restaurant for dinner tonight to enjoy some food. We sat down and waited for someone to come take our order. Someone finally arrived after about 10 minutes. We placed our drink order and our food order at the same time. In a matter of minutes we received our drinks which was great. We then ran out of chips and realized it was getting longer and longer. Our waiter wasn't coming back, we ran out of chips and we were halfway through our drinks. We waited approximately 45 minutes and still no food or waiter. When we finally asked someone random who was delivery food he said it would be out shortly. We then had a waitress approach our table to tell us that the tickets sometimes get backed up. Finally, our waiter arrived and he said that the computers were messed up and never took our order. At that point we said screw it we will pay for the drinks. The waiter came back and slammed our tickets down in front of us and left. We received no apologies or comps for even our two sodas we had. We will not return to this restaurant and have received better recommendations for another Mexican restaurant 5 minutes down the road. read more

I just came back from Azul. I am new to this town, so I wanted to explore restaurants in Eau Claire, WI. I ordered a quesadilla with vegetables ($5.25) and a side of rice ($2.25). The quesadilla was terrible. Whatever cheese they used (the waiter said mexican mozzarella) is the only one they use at their restaurant. It is horrible. The cheese tasted like fake cheese. The quesadilla was watery from the vegetables. I ate about 1/3 of quesadilla and gave up. I am home from their restaurant and feel nauseous. Their rice was not good either. I expected a sweet tomato flavor and a fried crispy rice, but their rice was neither of those things. I expressed that I did not like my food when the waiter came and asked. He did not do anything, as if he did not care. One restaurant that I will never go back to again in town - check. read more

I'm a tourist here from Southern California...(the capitol of Mexico) and thought the food was wonderful...Portions are plentiful, chips and dips are not overly spicy, and the Frajitas were enough for three at dinner and enough to take a carry out. The Taco salad is great - they're very generous with their servings. Service is fast and staff is very courteous. This place is a must for a great Mexican meal. I'll be back anytime I'm visiting Eau Claire on the south side., Kitchen is under remodel - but will be open again before I go back to California. Love it, Love it, Love it!!!
