That's precisely what happened when I purchased a Tombolini suit from AK Rikk's in early September. I paid dimes on the dollar, but got a remarkable product shipped to me (for free --- and in a valet-sized boxed; I mean, the suit was literally hanging from a makeshift mailable wardrobe). AK Rikk's is expensive (even when it's discounted), but it is a rare jewel in a world of cut-glass-fast-fashion-fakes, and one of the few vibrant retail clothing palaces that still exist in this world of dead malls and Ebay deadstocks. If you can't get to AK Rikk's in person (as I couldn't), check them out on YouTube. This is the first thing I've purchased from them (on their website), and I don't know if there will be anything else from them in my future, but it's a Wilkes-Bashford, Mitchell's, Bergdorf-Goodman, Neiman Marcus level shopping experience from start to finish. It's north of Paul Stuart (price-wise), but that "north" extends all the way to Heaven (experientially).

They recently opened at Breton Village and I was hesitant to go in at first because I'm not a fashion blogger or Instagram model. My fears disappeared when I walked in and Olivia welcomed me right away. She asked if I needed any help and I told her yes -- I was looking for jeans but didn't know where to start. I wasn't sure of my size, but I told her a size I've worn in the past and she pulled some pairs for me. She gave me the rundown of their jeans collection and asked what styles I was looking for. I tried on three different pairs of jeans and the third was perfect. These are not Old Navy jeans that are $30 that pill and fall apart after a few washes. They are a quality product from a quality company. They are expensive, at least for me. We're talking $100+ per pair, so be ready to spend some money. I was happy to do so, knowing that Madewell is a company with great ethics, sustainable business practices, and one that works with organizations that support causes that I believe in. If you bring in an old pair of jeans to be recycled through their program with Habitat for Humanity, you can get $20 off a new pair of Madewell jeans. Win win! My experience at Madewell was great and I was so glad Olivia was so kind and helpful. She told me that she really enjoys helping people find something that makes them look and feel good, and I could really tell that was true. She made what is normally a painful process painless for me! She also told me about their return policies and their free hemming service. I'm already looking forward to going back to check out some other clothing!

When I called to cancel the shipment of the last item, due to it will not be shipping until July 18th (according to my order history now) which I won't need this item then, they told me they can't cancel the item. He said when I placed the order it was on backorder, which it wasn't. The Irony is I can place an order for this same item today, and it still doesn't show it is on backorder, but yet the item won't ship until July 18th? They have charged me for this item, I don't want it, and it hasn't shipped but they won't cancel it. I have to wait until I receive the item and ship it back (free of charge of course) before I can get my money back. This is poor business practice and very poor customer service. They are reaping the benefits of revenue gained, which is helping them month to month, without providing the consumer with the product. I won't buy from them again.

They have a pretty large selection of women's shoes as well as lots of sale shoes towards the back. You can also find accessories like socks and purses as well as knickknack type toys, etc. towards the front checkout. I was able to find the shoes I wanted fairly quickly, but they were a little limited in my size (6-6.5). I think you can have them order different sizes and get them shipped to you. They have a rewards program where you can earn points. The shoes I went with were cheaper at DSW than on Amazon. Overall I like DSW and think they have a good selection of different styles. It's nice to be able to try stuff on in person, especially shoes. Parking in this area is a bit of a nightmare as the parking lot is always crowded and it's not laid out very well.

The brick and mortar stores are useful to come in and see the shoes, but if you have a wide, narrow, small or large size you're not going to go home with a pair of shoes from here. Hours later, she checked her account: we'd been charged $500 for the $200 item. She took the receipt back to the store to sort it out. Turns out the $200 price was "online only." The manager said they couldn't refund the difference -- but we could return the item and reorder it online to get the deal. So we returned it today. Except the online price was gone. JC Penney got back $500 worth of unpacked-but-unsellable merchandise, and we went home and ordered the same air fryer from Amazon for $195 -- cheaper than if we'd made the trip at all. Keep wondering why department stores are closing. If your on-line price beats your in-store price, and Amazon beats both--guess where I'm going?
