Amazing Tequila selection, rotating menu and excellent knowledgeable Staff (Lilly). Would highly recommend to anyone wanting an excellent Tequila selection and great food.

Driving by on the way to hotel after being at Matthiessen State Park and decided "What the heck let's give it a try". This place is nothing to look at from the outside but inside the workers were super friendly and helped decide which drink to try! The atmosphere was definitely upbeat and had unique character! Kind of dark...had to use my phone to see menu but I'm old! Haha! Sat at the bar and someone actually bought a round for the bar so definitely took advantage of that! Had the sichuan style wings and they were amazing! Full wing/drummy combo so delicious! If back in the area would definitely stop and so should you!

Delicious menu and food at this corner tavern near Starved Rock Park. There are roosters and an outdoor eating area outside. Food is prepared in a kitchen set up in a food truck as the building is mostly a dark bar with some tables for dining inside. The food selection on the menu was limited to just a few of the menu options. We opted for the chorizo smash burger which had a good char, cooked medium rare and served with jalapenos, a spicy sauce and fries. It was very good.

This place is such a hidden gem! The looks of a little dive bar, with the food and drinks of a 5 star restaurant! We had the chorizo burger and ribeye special - absolutely mouth watering dishes. All the drinks were incredible also! Lilly and her husband have an amazing little spot here and we cannot wait for our next visit. The roosters and cat house on the property were an added bonus!

A MUST stop if you are visiting the state parks, Ottawa, or Utica. Keep in mind they are closed M & T. I was served the best coffee/ espresso based cocktail I have ever had, the Carajillo. If you are a coffee lover, you must try it. I also had the Paloma. It was fresh and delicious. There was a limited food menu but we had the Wagyu burger with fries which was delicious and served with a magical sauce on the side. The atmosphere was relaxed and laidback. The server was friendly and attentive. I would say this place is not kid friendly due to the fun images in and around the bathroom. I wished we were staying in the area another night so I could try more of their cocktails. On the way out, visit the Gallos, or roosters out back. They are beautiful and loved the attention.

Cool little place that we were lucky to come across. It looks just like a shack. Ano Del Gallo is actually just a bar. Has a pretty chill atmosphere with mostly just drinks. They might have Mexican food, but who knows, so go a few times. A place like this usually has low expectations. It didn't look like anything special about it. This is at an intersection not far from Starved Rock. After walking around we needed a drink. They had a good list. It's about $7 for their special cocktails. These hit the spot. I had the House Lime Margarita. She had the Ranch Water. It's made with Blue Webber, lime, Sichuan pepper, and Topo Chico. Kind of had a milky cloudy color to it. Even so, tried it and it was good. The food is limited. Maybe $2 for chips. They also sometimes have pizza. Good stop after a hike. It has good affordable cocktails that cool you off. The last time they had a food truck in the back making Mexican food and stuff.

This place and its staff are special. A one-of-kind honky-tonk tequila bar specializing in elevated cocktails and exquisite food. Once you're there, you're not going to want to leave. Put another dime in the juke box, baby.

Hidden gem. It looks a little rough on the outside, but it's worth stopping in. A+ margaritas and drinks. Food is dynamite (rotating menu).

This was not a mutual dogfight or provoked in any way. We were supposed to be spending a couple of days hiking and enjoying our gorgeous cabin rental. Instead we made the mistake of stopping for dinner here and spending the night in the emergency vet an hour away. When we arrived, it was dead and Louie was the only pooch in the place. The people were friendly and no one made mention of other unleashed dogs being in the building, or that my dog being there might be a problem on that evening. We would have left immediately and taken our order to-go if we had know there would be the potential for problems. We had dinner, chatted a bit, and were getting ready to leave when two large dogs (Cane Corsos) came charging from a side door directly for my dog. The owner realized what had happened and was able to get his unleashed dogs under control. Apparently his teenage son had let them loose without thinking. Once separated, we realized there was a large open gash on my dog's shoulder and a smaller one on his leg. A helpful man at the bar, who I believe was a paramedic, wrapped my dog in bandages and suggested we hurry to the vet as soon as possible. With no emergency vet nearby, the owner did the right thing and took us to an emergency vet in Mokena. He covered the bill for sedation, stitches, meds, etc ... I do appreciate the way he handled the situation afterwards. He also expressed that he wouldn't be allowing the dogs around other dogs without a muzzle after this incident. However, I still believe people need to be aware of this before choosing to potentially put their pets in harm's way. I really don't believe the owner expected this to happen, but his dogs are not dog friendly and his kids make careless mistakes. If my dog had been smaller, he would be dead, not just injured. My dog is now in pain consistently. We cancelled the remainder of our vacation rental (without refund). We didn't even use it, other than a few hours (to sleep) when we finally made it back from the vet. We had several days booked and planned. I am also out my vacation days from work, which I am now spending caring for an injured dog at home. Not to mention time and money spent packing, preparing, driving, etc... All the work that goes into planning a trip. To top it off, I lost my favorite pair of sunglasses in the scuffle. They're not expensive but had sentimental value to me. They were left at the bar but disappeared by the time we returned. I feel so horrible for my dog and am worried that this will change his sweet demeanor towards other animals. He's never hurt another dog nor has he ever been attacked and this can cause long term trauma and behavior changes in animals. I know a lot of my friends hike and go out to dog friendly places in this area. Please steer clear of this place if you have your dog with you.

Damn place has too many selections that are not really selections because everything tasted so good…read moreI had to stop tasting or I would have had to buy them out and my credit card only allows so much before it reports me to my wife. I do NOT like bourbon. Yet, somehow, tasting theirs made me decide that it is just some bourbons I don't like. And may I also add, that I do not like rum as a sipping drink, it only belongs in a coke as a teenager. Their rum (specifically the navy strength rum) holy cow, a perfect sipping "whiskey." NOW, I come to the liquors I like, nay love, as life itself. Scotch whiskey...... they don't make it..... ok then my other favorite nectar of the gods, TEQUILA.... Specifically repasado or anejo. In this case, theirs is called "rested tequila." It is sweet for tequila, but only for "unsweetened tequila" meaning no added BS or sugar (which surprisingly some big labels use.) it has a profile similar but BETTER and less sweet than Casamigos repasado. It is really VERY good, not astringent and deceptively smooth so that it could be dangerous, time will tell. This place is worth a 20-30 mile detour to check out their tasting room and cave like atmosphere. It is a shame we were not at this place 40 years ago when I could have lit up a cigar. Oh well.
