This owner knows what he's doing. Great mixed drinks. The coolest bar in the area for sure. You must check this out!

We figured it would have been the perfect way to top off our evening. For first-timers it might be hard trying to find the speakeasy since at first I thought you had to access it from the Busy Street and walk up three flights of stairs. Actually you just walk inside of the Embers building, find the elevator that's kind of hidden and take it to the Third floor. I thought that the little trip up felt exclusive already. Once you're at the third floor you are treated to a beautiful array of scenery. Exit to your left and you were treated to the bar and some great tables with a cozy, intimate setting. I'm not sure if it was open seating since there was a little podium right off the elevator so we just sat ourselves. Some speakeasies require a certain dress code to keep up with the times. This one thankfully was casual though many people dressed business casual. We actually loved how the staff dressed as well. I have to try their Japanese sex drink and I absolutely loved every ship that I took. The drinks are fairly price. They did have a food menu but it was mainly snacks and small plates that were a bit overpriced. If we're having a large Gathering they have a big private room next door. This place does have a lot of great events going on as well with their upcoming Valentine's Day event that looks really interesting. It does get pretty busy as well after 7:00 p.m. from our experience. Overall, I was excited and enjoyed our visit coming to the 933 speakeasy!

It just so happens that I visited the night of a holiday bar crawl in lockport so the inside wasn't set up how it normally would be. For being packed, we were still able to grab a cocktail table to enjoy our drinks at. The bar was decked out in holiday decor to get everyone in christmas spirits. My group got two rounds of drinks which included the Toasted Pecan Old Fashioned, Figgy Smalls, Christmas in a Cup, Happiness is a Warm Puppy, Milk & Cookies, and Maple Bacon Old Fashioned. My favorites by far were the Toasted Pecan Old Fashioned and Figgy Smalls. My group also loved the Milk & Cookies. The bartenders hustled to get drinks out and still took time to smoke the old fashioneds to perfection. I'd love to come back on a normal night and re-enjoy this lockport hotspot.

When I was a kid I use to go to the Des Plaines Theater & watch movies for 60 cents (ahhh nostalgia trip down memory lane), but I digress The speakeasy inside the Des Plaines Theater is an awesome idea. The show was awesome but the one MAJOR MAJOR issue I have is the bartender who continued to serve my sister's friend. He was obviously very very drunk to a point where he could barely walk wo/stumbling. He was slurring his words. Both my sister & I asked the bartender not to serve him anymore alcohol but she kept serving him drinks even after we asked. She continued to serve him even after we asked her not to. When he and my sister left she told me he tried to put the key in the ignition 14X's before she convinced him to let her drive. Your bartender's need to be aware of a persons level of intoxication. Both my sister & I asked her not to serve him anymore drinks but she continued to serve him. Thank God my sister was able to convince him to let her drive home otherwise what was an excellent evening could have ended tragically. Please have your bartenders be more conscious of a persons level of intoxication. While I gave Bourbon & Brass a 5 star review I need to down grade that for over serving someone alcohol even after both my sister & I asked her to stop serving him

There was a show that evening, when we entered the theater, the usher asked to see our tickets. I asked how to get to the speakeasy and the usher pointed to the elevator, take it to the second floor. Once we got to the second floor, more ushers greeted us and informed us there's a jazz band performing and small cover charge. As soon as we paid and entered through the bookshelf, the room was beautifully arranged as a lounge with fancy and vintage sofas and couches. Kind of reminds me of someone grandma's house. The bar had snacks available, otherwise more drink options. The band played good songs too. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and jazz fan.

The wait staff service was outstanding and Adam, the bartender was excellent. Appeitzers were delicious - spinach artichoke dip and meatballs with marinara. We provided our guests with the choice of Fish&Chips, Grilled Chicken Sandwich or the Wienerschnitzel...kids were given a Chicken Tender Meal. Everyone truly enjoyed their meals. I appreciated they allowed a special meal for the MOB who is a vegetarian. The sugar donuts at the end of the meal were a hit! :) Alyssa, the party coordinator for the venue was super accomodating and super easy to work with. It does take a few days for response time - BUT, I always got a response. And she was always willing to give us everything we asked for! The venue even let us in earlier than requested to set up our decor. We would definitely recommend this venue for a bridal/baby shower or birthday party - any special event that is smaller in numbers. The venue has been advertising a new addition to the space next to building but it seems the construction has haulted. It is a shame because it is a bit of an eyesore - BUT, if they complete this addition, it will be beautiful. Hope they are able to complete it. The Gray's Mills has history with it's town so I hope locals will continue to support it. When we come back to visit our son and my new daughter-in-law, we will definitely be back for a visit - especially if the weather is nice!! They have a great outdoor patio along the Fox River just outside the restaurant on the bottom floor. Thank you Gray's Mill Estate!!

They have some pretty typical bar food if you like fried things. Bar and grill, with most of the focus being on the beers and cocktails. It's just best to not take chances and play it safe. The bar looks pretty divy from the outside, and rest assured it's like that on the inside too. Amazing that it's in the middle of a residential neighborhood. There must be noise complaints one can imagine about the crazy patrons. It's about $3 for the cheapest drinks. There's often specials including on beers and wells. Food menu has greasy favorites. It's about $8 for a burger or a sandwich. Loads of toppings. Big menu but most of it is meaty. There's a few things made with avocado and sprouts, but usually in combination with bacon or something. For sure it has a lot of choices if you're looking for typical bar food. It's located on the street it's named for obviously. They're even open for breakfast, so you can get your drinking on early, while getting eggs and whatever.

It's good to see places like this that have survived the pandemic. The bar is covered with stickers of bands that have played there, another plus that they support area music!
