I stopped in on a rainy night craving a pastrami burger, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good theirs was. It was better than a Crown Burger! It's a juicy burger, along with some good greasiness, and good size, even the single was filling. Along with a sturdy toasted bun, fresh toppings and a wonderfully beefy patty with maximum charbroiled savoriness..It's a solid burger, that holds its own with my other favorite pastrami burger from Astro Burger. Do keep in mind a couple of things that make this a 4 star place and not a 5...Prices are a little high but not terrible. Wait times can run long. We waited 15 minutes alone in their drive-thru for a single burger. But I do understand some of that, considering it is cooked to order. Lastly, the extra charges here can be annoying, from credit card service fees to charging for sauces. But I would definitely come back and try more of the menu, possibly some of their Greek offerings next time. read more

Our burgers were both undercooked and tasted unseasoned, the shakes weren't anything special and were overpriced. Overall: I won't be going here again. Seems a little steep. * Our orders were both wrong. I ordered a plain hamburger, my wife ordered a loaded cheeseburger. I got a plain cheeseburger and she got a loaded hamburger. I peeled the cheese off mine and swapped with her. * The dining room was very dated and looked to be in disrepair. It appears that it might be under construction. The benches were very worn and felt like sitting right on a spring. * The burgers were cooked to order-so it took a little while. Once we swapped out some of the ingredients, the burgers were pretty good. With a little TLC, I think this place could be pretty stellar. It's is a hole with the wall but hands down the best burgers and shakes in the area! The burger patties are tasty and juicy. The pastrami's burger is my absolute favorite. The food was delicious and I feel like my BLT would've been a lot better if the bacon was thoroughly cooked and actually crispy I had to take most of it out because it wasn't cook all the way. I think it is crucial to cook Bacon thoroughly if I get sick after this, it definitely was the bacon. The onion rings are amazing. read more

The workers at this location were very rude to me. I ordered a cheeseburger without onions and the worker relayed my order as "Cheeseburger para la niña". I am not a girl and found this insulting. The cheeseburger and fries taste good, but you have to pay extra for fry sauce. The ambiance is very poor. The tables and benches look and feel like they're from the 1980s. The shakes only come in one large size and there are no smaller options of either shakes or burgers for kids. Here is a dive, and one I drive by often, but have not visited in about four years. This is mostly due to their horrid narrow drive thru that exits onto busy State Street. No thanks! I also could not remember anything about my first experience here, and unmemorable generally equals unexceptional, so they just have not been on my radar. A friend mentioned them as a favorite a few weeks back, so I thought it was high time to check B & D out once more, and made my way over last Saturday for a late lunch. Though I was taking my order to go, I parked and headed inside 'cause I ain't messin' with that drive thru. The interior is a classic burger joint, complete with red vinyl booths, clean, and they have a TV if you're into that. At 1:30pm, there was only one other customer, and I was greeted warmly by the pleasant cashier. She was very patient as I hemmed and hawed over the menu. Like many similar local spots, B & D offers a variety of hamburgers, including pastrami, of course, along with Greek inspired eats. There are almost as many char-broiled chicken sandwiches as burgers, along with additional sammies like BLTs, grilled cheese, cheesesteak....and then the only thing that perhaps sets them apart is that they serve fish and chips, which is not a popular offering at burger joints elsewhere. Oh, and, a little bit of a novelty: corn dogs and zucchini fries. Lastly, they do the whole crazy shake thing, with a million flavor options and mix-ins, and ridiculously large cups. You can get an ice cream cone, too. I finally decided on a double pastrami burger, and asked if it could be wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun. The response was an emphatic "yes!" so happy day! I also ordered a bacon cheeseburger for my husband, fries to share, and an Oreo shake. It was about $20 for everything, so...maybe a tad high for fast food, but not bad. I waited under ten minutes for my order, and was on my way. The shake was nice and thick, with generous cookies, but had a very unpleasant artificial flavor (of note, my husband thought it was great, so...different strokes for different folks, I guess. Don't take my opinion as gospel, though also keep in mind that he is not picky and will eat any junk food...). Onto our meals! My burger was served in a styrofoam container, and upon opening it, I was met by a pile of burger and toppings on a piece of lettuce...decidedly not a wrap. On the one hand, okay fine, this is not an actual item on the menu, and was a special request, etc, but on the other hand, when I asked if they could prepare it this way, the answer seemed so clearly to indicate it was not an abnormal order, that I thought I knew what to expect. All that meat and stuff was just too much on it's own. Thankfully, since I was at home, I just chopped it up and ate it over greens I already had. The patties were flavorful and juicy, and the pastrami was decent and not too fatty. My husband was happy with his burger, and the fries, while unexceptional, were fine, the large, a generous serving. Fry sauce was average. I was so pleased with the service here, and they have a full menu with lots of options. The burgers themselves were pretty good. But that shake was just gross, and I cannot help but be annoyed by my "lettuce wrap." With so many other similar eateries, I would not go out of my way to return, but if someone wanted to, I would not be unhappy about it, though would likely order something different. TL;DR - Good burgers, meh shakes, prices just a little high for what you're getting, but excellent customer service. read more

Blink and you'll miss it. I mean, it's not so much that it's tiny (it is) or that it doesn't have much flashy signage (it doesn't) or that it's in an unsuspecting part of State Street (it is). It's really a combo of all three. Located on the corner of 7800 S. and State Street in Midvale for who knows how many years, B & D just keeps busy enough to keep cranking out the burgers, Greek plates, corn dogs, and other menu items from its tiny little kitchen. You have to enter from 7800, and there's a small parking lot with room for less than a dozen cars. There's also a drive-thru with tight curves. Today I saw someone getting out of their car in the drive thru. Why, I do not know. But I was surprised that there was enough room to open the car door in the alley of a drive-thru. Skeeeeeny. B&D has a few menu items to surprise you. Fried zucchini, Greek plates, and dogs. But there are some that should come as no surprise at all. Big beefy burgers with that distinctive "not from a fast food joint" taste. And of course, shakes. Oh, the shakes. It's one size fits all here, and that size is pretty tall. I once again ordered the chocolate banana version, and the extra add-in brought me almost $4.50. I have to say I was really impressed with the shake. I mean, the neon sign they do have in the front says "Thick Shakes, Malts" so you know they take it seriously. But this shake was the gift that kept on giving. The first third was a little blonder than I usually prefer. And although there was nothing melty about it, it was light and fluffy with the teeniest of chunks of banana. The next third was the chocolate zone, and where the shake hit perfection. Chocolatey. Thick but not dense. With a little band of chocolate syrup in it. The bottom third had a larger chunk or two of banana and a thick, solid base of softserve. I had originally intended on making my order to-go, but decided to hang out on the red booths and watch a bit of football on the screen hung on the wall. It's an odd mix of clientele, but everyone there appreciates the difference in the food. And everyone orders a shake. read more

The Midvale location is hurting. The smell of cleaning products is unusual and strong, and the folks working there seem dissatisfied to be there. The prices have gone way up, which - I get it, inflation - make it unlikely that I can afford to go here often. The gyros are why I go here, and they're pretty good, but they're not phenomenal, so all of these things considered... it's just not a good decision. A couple of folks recommended this spot to us a a good local burger joint in Midvale. First the only good thing I can say is that the Gyro took me back to an official one we used to get when we lived in NY. Good tasty meat, perfect amount of onions, tomatoes and lettuce and the bread was authentic. With that being said, their burger was undercooked, not flavorful at all. The bread was okay, but the flour like powder on it, took away from the experience. The only good thing about the burger was the lettuce, tomatoes and onions. This is the place! Very small and unassuming from the outside, wait until you go in. It's very clean and looks good inside. Everything is cooked fresh to order and it's awesome. They have the best fries, crisp but fluffy and plenty thick. The burger is great, bacon or pastrami on top and you can't go wrong. Get some fry sauce and get to it. If you don't want a burger, they have gyros and kabobs as well. Honestly just an awesome place to eat! They have shakes that are great and 27 choices I think. I will come here often and think you should too. I've been looking for "the burger and fries", to this point I've had great fries or great burgers but never both together. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars because their shakes are amazing! They are huge and honestly some of the best shakes I've ever had. I had a peanut butter and fudge shake the other day and it was so good. It was super thick, but also really creamy, so it wasn't just like eating ice cream out of a cup. I took one star off because the restaurant is dirty. Nearly every surface (the floors, tables, baby highchairs) was sticky to the touch, and it just looked like it was in need of a good cleaning. Another downside is that the parking lot is tiny, and there isn't really anywhere else to park nearby if the lot is full. They do have a drive-thru, but it can be difficult to enter the parking lot/drive-thru because the entrance is tricky and can get blocked by cars waiting at the light. read more

I've had my eye on this place for a while. I live close by and drive by it often. I am quite puzzled every time I drive by because it is greeks serving up American food. So, finally today I decided to give this place a try. From the outside it looks pretty run down so I was afraid of going in but the inside kind of looks the same. The fixtures are coming apart and this place is truly a hole in the wall kind of restaurant. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki burger combo after asking for suggestions. Plan on waiting around a while because my order was not ready for a while (there was only one person ahead of me). My meal came out to be $8, pretty standard. Food: Immediately I dipped into the fries and felt that they needed a lit bit more salt. They were average fries. Next up was the burger, which immediately I did not like at all. There was very little teriyaki sauce and it felt that I needed more sauce on it (teriyaki or bbq or something). The chicken was stringy and felt it was not cooked enough. I was waiting at the drive thru menu at 8:55 to get a shake and waited until 9:03 only for the lady to tell me "sorry we're closed". And then also had to wait for the people in front of me to finish receiving their orders before I could pull through because there were more people behind me. Absolutely terrible business practice. I'm convinced she waited until after 9pm to acknowledge me on the intercom so she didn't have to accept anymore orders. I didn't realize at the time they closed at 9pm but nevertheless I was there at 8:55pm and as a FAST FOOD RESTAURANT if your that eager to close on the minute AND turn customers [money] away than you're in the wrong business. read more
