I've been to Proper many times but this is my first review. Service was fast. I got the Fiery Furnace with a chicken breast, a sandwich I have definitely had before. It was low on spice this time, but lots of blue cheese. We also got a side of fried which seems overcooked and too crispy. Or maybe they've changed their fries, I'm unsure. I got a dark lager special beer on tap which was delicious. The inside was full so we sat outside. It hadn't been cleaned anytime recently so the patio was dirty and no napkins on the table. Not my best Proper experience, but overall I do like the food.

I've been craving a burger and chose a bacon proper burger out of the many options in this local SLC joint. The staff were friendly and soda was self serve. It is split between two buildings, one where you can enjoy boozy drinks with or without food and the main building that is family friendly. Both sides are fairly spacious and one can easily enjoy a meal with friends. FYI- you need to order food in the main building regardless of your intentions. If you want booze and food, go to the main building first. They'll deliver your food to the booze building after ordering.

I had a business trip to SLC last weekend. On Friday night, I was watching Triple D reruns while packing for the trip and happen to see the episode that featured Proper Burger/ Proper Brewing. I took that as a sign that I needed to pay the place a visit during my trip. All in all, it was a good experience. The burger was the standout. I got the Sundance Kid Burger, their version of a BBQ burger. It was darn good. The patty was perfectly cooked, the combo of onion ring and crushed Fritos as toppings provided a nice crunch factor. The bun was really good. Toasted, pillowy and delicious. The fries didn't look as good as the ones featured on DDD. These didn't seem hand cut. They were remarkably similar to McDonald's fries in taste, size and texture. To me that was a bummer as I don't care too much for McD's fries. I prefer mine to be a bit thicker. Also, my order had lots of little nubs which are tough to dip. Also wanted to try a milkshake. It to was fine, but not exceptional. Just vanilla soft serve, chocolate syrup and some milk. In keeping with the fast food theme, the shake reminded me of a Wendy's Frosty. Not at all bad, just not worth seeking out. Their beers were very nice. I had a couple of different options and liked them both. Staff was great. They we super friendly and made a solo business traveler feel at home.

Came to try these burgers again, and the pastrami was so good!!! There are a few more I need to try.

Burger was overcooked. Bun and toppings were excellent!!!

This was supposed to be one of the better burger places in SLC, according to some local sources. Our experience here wasn't great. It's odd that you need to buy the burger in one place, then go eat it in the Proper Brewing place, but they explained it well. That's not the reason for the 2 stars as the staff was helpful when ordering. The burger was overcooked and dry! When you're supposed to be a burger place, this is really not acceptable. Since I already had walked over to get replacement fries because they were cold and lifeless, I didn't push my luck with the burger either. The toppings and ingredients were fresh and delicious though, and they were needed to help the burger along. Speaking of the fries, the second round was delicious and they were quick to come out too. The first batch tasted like they were the last of the previous bunch, which is always my pet peeve with fries. So many places give you crap-ass fries at first. Service was as good as it could be with counter service as they brought the food over from one building to another (again, dumb, but probably Utah's rules). Nobody was around to ask "how is everything?" though. So really couldn't let them know the burger patty sucked. TL:DR - Go to Crown Burger instead!

Cool ambiance with really nice people working, trying to put a spin on everyday burgers. Unfortunately, the spins kind of missed the mark. The onion rings and fries, with their sauces, were amazing. I can't remember even having better. They tried to be quite creative with the burgers, but certain things are done for a reason. For example, the zucchini pickles did not taste good and didn't serve the function of a true pickle. Same for the spring mix they used instead of a straightforward iceberg or romaine. It got wilted and sort of gross. I would definitely come again, but I would be really picky choosing what to order.

I would say 3.5 stars. My coworkers met up here for lunch one day. The parking lot situation alone would make me not return. There are just a few slots. The customer service wasn't amazing. It was not warm and friendly as I suppose I expected. There were only a few customers there on a Wednesday afternoon. I ordered the M.O.A.B burger and it was great actually. I would have appreciated more sauce, but they charge extra for sauces, so I went without. The fries were pretty good, but they were quite inconsistent, some were good, some were soggy, and some were really over cooked. Kind of a weird problem to have. Their special 'fry sauce' maybe they call it the proper sauce, wasn't really that special. It was okay, nothing memorable. The garlic aioli though that was on my burger was really good and I would consider ordering that as a dip for the fries. I agree with the review that stated the bun seemed like it might not hold up, there has got to be a better option out there. It was plenty to eat and filled me up! I could go elsewhere and get an equally good tasting burger that costs less! FYI they don't take apple/tap pay so if you don't have your wallet they will act like there isn't anything they can do, but my suggestion is to just order online and pay that way. There is No need for them to make it difficult.

Excellent burgers. Housemade tasting buns, grass fed beef patties. I stacked mine with lettuce, bbq sauce, tomato, bacon, and vegan cheddar. It really hit the spot. Generous size and delicious. Fries are mediocre, frozen shoestring type. Meh. I love that they have me organic ketchup packets. Vegan shakes!! Yippee! These are super rare, so getting one was irresistible. The person at the counter couldn't tell me if it was a soy or coconut base. I ordered strawberry. It's a huge 22oz cup; a smaller size would be really nice. It was also really sweet, like strawberry syrup added and not real berries. Tasty enough but not the best vegan shake I've had. I'd probably order one again if they offered a half size option, though.

Proper burger is a great place to go when you're craving good beer and a burger. They always have the games on and I went on a Saturday night and caught the BYU Colorado game and the overtime Broncos Cincinnati game. They also have some good cocktails. I tried the El Matcha burger. Definitely recommend this place for quick service the games, bar games and food. Super chill bar.

Never in my life have I ordered a burger that was served in a plastic basket but looks like it should be served on fine china and the picture in a magazine matches reality. I was so blown away by this Bacon Proper Burger and I'm glad I upped the price to a combo w/fries & a drink. Staff was friendly and the place was clean. Five star flavor at 3 star price. They gave fry sauce without having to ask. WILL RECOMMEND AND BE BACK SOON

Ive made it a point to try every brewery in town and made my way here along my journey. The staff were pleasant and welcoming to take our order. There are definitely a number of options to choose from for the menu. I tried the nacho libre and also the first furnace. I don't think either was exceptional, but they were a decent burger. The poutine fries were a bit over salty, and didn't really hit the poutine craving I was having. I did move over to proper brewing to eat my meal, but the interior of proper burger was clean, and I wouldn't have minded staying here either.

Would I go back again? Yes I would just to try all the different burgers they have to offer. All of their burgers sound pretty good and I was in town for a business trip. Service was quick and you order at the front desk then find a seat where they'll bring the food out to you (5mins later). They have both indoor and outdoor seating available as well. I ordered a hamburger (Johnny Utah) and I would probably give it a 3/5. Decent burger but I was hoping for more meat and cheese and it seemed like it was kinda lacking that which is why I'd love to try the other burgers. The rarebit fries were awesome and even better than the burger itself! You'll want a fork to dig in because it can get messy but my goodness I couldn't stop eating them. A must get if you go!

Located on the…read moretop floor of the sprawling Harmon's marketplace, covered parking was free and convenient, especially for the bustling metro downtown area. Going in, I was impressed by the story being told, with burgers that seemed to be top quality, made with a combination of Snake River Farms and ground chuck. The fries were lightly fried once in beef tallow, and then fried again when you order them, similar to Belgian style. Everything sounded like they were super thoughtful so I was looking forward to greatness. What I ended up with was, well, "good". This is of course, a bit subjective I guess but while the burger was decent and had a nice bit of pink inside, (also, shout out for the bun they used which was absolutely perfect to be honest), it tasted a bit dense and preformed, so biting into it gave you a bit of a "quarter pounder" taste instead of being super juicy and loose consistency, if that makes sense? The fries were fresh and tasty but perhaps a bit more limp and oily than I would have preferred, as if the oil temp was a bit low? Still, I'm nitpicking because it was still really good but if you're reading between the lines of my review, I think I was expecting something exceptional that you would want to drive out of your way for given the obvious attention to quality that they strive for, and ultimately realized that Just Burgers was, ummm, Just Fine.

However, additional details create a loving connection - it's off-Broadway central location, the copper-paneled ceiling that mimics warm conversations in varied spaces (cocktail, chef's counter, expandable tables for groups, and outdoor), fresh, locally-sourced ingredients with service to match. It's the place where I had my first glass of Turley Zinfandel (education alongside), and the place I will always return for my favorite Wagyu Beef Stroganoff (a comfort from home, but upscale). This one delivered with large, firm, expertly seasoned portobello & forest mushrooms over wide, freshly handmade pappardelle pasta that soaks up rich beef stock (a touch of black pepper) blended with crème fraîche. A generous portion of wagyu is tender and rich. PRO TIP: Mix then let it sit & marinade a minute - flavor pays in dividends. For dessert, a Valhrona Chocolate Pudding topped with whip cream and Maldon flake salt - exquisite, but expensive. The texture is comforting and delicious - olive oil adds a lingering finish with slight fruit.

I informed her that we had a reservation under my name, John, but she simply looked at her list, seemed annoyed, and told us to wait anyway. While we were waiting, we watched several parties of two arrive after us with reservations at 8:10, 8:15, and even 8:20, and they were seated before us. After waiting about 20 minutes, I went back to ask how much longer it would be. I was told it would be another 20 minutes. I reminded Carleigh that we had a reservation, and her response was, "Oh, you did?" She then asked for my full name and phone number, looked up the reservation, apologized, and immediately escorted us to a table that appeared to have been ready the entire time. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing. Reservations are made so guests don't have to wait behind people who arrive later. It felt like our reservation had been completely ignored until I spoke up a second time. Whether this was poor organization or a lack of attention, the level of service at the front desk was unacceptable. We came looking forward to a nice family dinner, but the experience started with unnecessary frustration and left a very poor first impression. I sincerely hope additional training is provided so this doesn't happen to other guests.

Seven Brothers has a unique vibe that immediately makes you feel welcome. There's a warmth to the place that feels genuine, and it sets the tone for everything that follows. The food is absolutely the star of the show. The burgers are huge, juicy, and packed with flavor, clearly made with fresh ingredients and a lot of care. Every bite feels satisfying, from the perfectly cooked patties to the soft buns and well-balanced toppings. The fries are crispy and seasoned just right, and the portions are generous enough that you definitely leave full and happy. The shakes are also a must-try--thick, rich, and indulgent, they pair perfectly with the savory menu items and really complete the experience. Service was another highlight of the visit. The staff was friendly, upbeat, and attentive without ever feeling rushed or overbearing. You can tell they take pride in what they do and genuinely want customers to enjoy their time there. Orders were handled smoothly, food came out fresh and hot, and everything felt well-organized even during busy times. The restaurant itself was clean, well-kept, and had a steady energy that made it feel popular without being overwhelming. Between the incredible burgers, welcoming atmosphere, and consistently great service, it easily earns a top recommendation.
