Not only was the food delicious and constantly praised by our guests (the braised beef being a particular favorite), but the service and staff was amazing. The entire operation was efficient, seamless and, honestly, invisible. Chef Scott is a former restaurant chef, and you can tell. We had done a tasting with a different caterer first and it didn't hold a candle to Chef Cava. Many people told us that this was the best wedding food they'd ever had by a mile. Particularly standouts were the beef tenderloin (perfectly cooked), the market fish arrabiata (we had halibut, it was SUPER fresh and the sauce was spectacular), and the homemade pasta genovese (great for the vegetarians in the crowd). We did family style, which is a great option that a lot of caterers don't offer as it allows people to take as much as they want of each dish without having to stand in a buffet line. All the passed hors d'oeuvres were fabulous as well. Chef Scott is extremely responsive to the many little questions that come up during the planning process, and worked seamlessly with our coordinator to make our wedding day a breeze. (Fool me once, twice, and being the fool I must be, three times). But MAAS ! Now there is nothing wrong with a good ham and cheese sandwich, but constantly labelling this sandwich as Proscuitto is quite a stretch. The Ham is quite ordinary -- not even Black Forest or Virginia (more like Kraft packaged) and an ordinary Swiss cheese (no Italian cheese to accompany the faux proscuitto. I do NOT like the false pretense, and the arrogance to think that we are that dumb not to know the difference. This kind of false labelling causes me to distrust what is actually in these sandwiches that they label as vegan, etc etc., as well as any of their pricier items. Others in my firm agree, but the price is right for us (free) so no one wants to look at this gift horse; but frankly, knowing in advance who is providing our "free lunch", I will plan on a slice of great pizza. A very detailed excel sheet was sent back, and we emailed requesting a breakdown of drinks included vs. no drinks included, given that the recommending friends suggested we do the same. When no response was given, I called Yen, who stated that as a company, they needed to make money, so were no longer doing the option of drinks bought separately (which I said was fine, just contradictory to her document as well as my friend's experience). At that point, she said that food and labor costs so little so drinks would be needed to make it financially worth it. An hour later she emailed to say that she changed and that we could do the drinks. In any case, when we reached out again a month later, she declined to take our wedding. In the end, it wouldn't have mattered but what a strange feeling having to deal with all this for a simple proposal. Asked about this company from other vendors and they were definitely not surprised with this story. They said "you either love her or hate her." Just a friendly FYI to all those out there!

My  plus one guest and the rest of our table didn't enjoy their food very much either.  Open bar was a plus and the decorations in the venue were nice, but I think my classmate's partner arranged those aspects of the wedding reception. My review and rating are just on the food which was served buffet style, so we tried a variety.
