We were craving pizza while we were in Corpus Christi and my girlfriend said BJ's was the best because she's from Corpus Christi so I was like OK let's try that. It was me my girlfriend and her daughter Kali so we ordered a pepperoni pizza because we all like pepperoni. We went from the North Padre Island over to corpus to pick it up real quick. Seems like someone got lazy in the cooking department because there was no cheese pull when biting into the cheese stick... and what was up with the breading? Usually when eating cheese sticks it's slightly crispy... definitely pass on those. The wings were good nicely fried and sauce was good. They weren't tough to eat like some wings. What's genuine about this place is that you won't be able to find another like this place that's located in the coastal bend area. It really brings me back to our San Diego days of pizza and beer. They have a front area near the entrance and a back area where you order your meal. We went on a Sunday night and they were quite busy. The staff was trying to catch up with all the orders but it's understandable, it was a holiday weekend. They should try to clean up the tables a little bit often, a lot of them were dirty. I'd like to make a suggestion to the business owner about menu placement. It would be a good idea to have the menus by the door entrance for customers to look at as they wait in line. The reason for this is because we asked for a menu and they were at the register. We noticed customers were taking longer to place their order since they are reviewing the menu taped to the countertop. I think to have a better flow of the line, this would really help. The pizza is really great here! I've had it a couple of times and you won't be disappointed. You can even ask for it extra crispy. Also, they have a 10 inch cauliflower pizza crust, which is AMAZING! I love my pizza crispy and this hits the spot! They have the best beer selection in the entire costal bend. Any beer you're in the mood for, they will probably have. I can't take away two stars since overall the food and beer selection is great. But for sure work on the staff keeping the tables clean and better menu flow organization. read more

My wife and I were in Corpus for a weekend. On Friday we ate at B & J's Pizza Brew Pub. I wrote a Yelp review for the brew pub and my only criticism was there were a LOT of dirty tables, and not one single clean table. Today we tried B & J's original location. It was just before 5:00 pm on Monday and there were hardly any customers. But there were plenty of dirty tables! Personally I don't get it. If it were my place I'd want to be clean. To me the dirty tables, especially during a slow time, indicate a lack of pride in the workspace. This is the first thing new customers see. Their first impression of the restaurant. But that's just my pet peeve. I guess this works for B & J. Luckily the food is great. We had pizza and wings and both were excellent. Definitely a place we will return when in Corpus. Maybe by then they'll have bused our table from today. read more

Everything about our visit "okay". I know a lot of people love this place but this is just my opinion based on my experience. It was our first time visiting. We walked in and didn't know where to go or what to do. The employees just kinda stared at us. I had to initiate conversation and find out where to go...if we sit ourselves...where we order...etc... None of the employees were super friendly, they were just kinda there. We ordered wings and a pizza. Wings came out at a decent time but the pizza took a surprisingly long time. The wings were decent. Not super soggy but not crispy either. The pizza was also decent. It was a little greasy for my liking. I had to dab it with napkins several times. Wasn't the worst, wasn't the best. The restroom was nasty. I would be opposed to trying it again, maybe it was funky day. They had a large beer selection which was nice. read more

Pro: the pizza and beer was good Con: The place was extremely dirty. As we walked into the dinning area there were dirty tables filled with dirty plates and pizza. I also witnessed a customer cleaning the table herself and she asked the guy for a towel to clean the table and he said "uh just pick another table." There was also a lot of flies in the dinning area. This place definitely needs a visit from the health department. We had to wait 45 min for our one pizza. The environment is so quiet and depressing. All the customers are literally sitting in the dark, no music, no entertainment. When I asked the guy if he could put some music on or the TV's and he said "ya, we don't do that and we're busy here in the kitchen." This was a horrible experience. I was upset because I brought guess with me and this place really let me down. read more

Our group of eight adults decided to venture out on a cloudy humid Friday night and try this restaurant, a staple long-time pizza joint with years in this current spot. It's located in the old Habeeb Jewelers shopping center on SPID, right next to Turners Nursery. The parking lot was packed when we pulled up but once inside we realized that the place is a small room with the kitchen, a huge fridge with beverages and a door leading to a large dining room with a bar (where you order) and tables/chairs. Very casual, rather unorganized. We looked at the menu on the counter and they offer many different pizza combinations, plus wings, a couple of salads and subs. We ordered the Californian Vegetarian pizza and a garden salad. Pizzas come in 12", 14" and 16". You pay after ordering at the counter and wait for the kitchen staff to bring your food. The pizza is the main draw here, and it's good: the crust has a nice crisp bottom with a good chewy texture, reminiscent of New York style pizza crust. The sauce is mild but our pizza had artichoke hearts, spinach, tomatoes, red onions and cheese. It was tasty and not greasy. The salad was a bowl of field greens with olives and peppers. It was forgettable. They have many many beers on tap and in cans/bottles, both imports and craft. The chairs are pretty uncomfortable, they're cheap stackable bar chairs and hard to sit in for any length of time. During our visit, the tables were not clean and there was trash, old food and dishes on at least 8 of them. Keeping the tables bussed would be a big plus here. One other note - the restrooms were filthy and foul-smelling. No excuse for that and the men's room was so bad it made my partner nauseous. Definitely a big turnoff. Total for one 14" veggie pizza, one craft beer, one side salad and one canned soda was $39.19. read more

Excellent food, excellent service! We ordered the B&J Original pizza which was really good. The also had the mango habanero wings and the honey BBQ wings which were tasty but could have been cooked a little longer to make them more crispy. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because the restrooms were in terrible condition. It was clear that the sinks aren't cleaned daily, and the restrooms smelled terrible. I'm in town with 5 others and I searched pizza in Apple Maps and this place popped up. It was around 9:30 pm on a Wednesday. Didn't look like much from the outside, and the inside was pretty empty. I didn't know you had to order at the bar so me and my group just sat at an open table. It took a few minutes for someone to let us know where to order, but once we ordered, the food came out as it was ready. This pizza was so much better than expected. A little oily, but pepperoni will do that. The cooks were helpful and the food was great! The salad is pretty good too. I definitely recommend! read more

Love the pizza, but hate the attitude. We have been in Corpus Christi for a little over a year and B&J's was the first good pizza we found here. The issue I have is the ordering system where you are required to sand in line to order, even if you are sitting at the bar ( unless the bartender is feeling generous and decides to take your order). The kicker for me was that when I mentioned that I had been coming in less because of the ordering system, he said that he lets people know that if they don't like the ordering system, there lots of other pizza places. It turns out that he was right, and we now have 2 other places that we go for pizza instead. We live in Flour Bluff and the Island is just as close, and at both of the other places I feel more wanted. read more

Our fave hangout place when we lived in Corpus 25 years ago during our Navy days, every time we come back to CC from our home in Dallas we eat here -- AND TRUE: we always run into someone we know!! I ran into Adam this time, and Paul last time. We used to come to B&Js for our Bay Area Society of Homebrewers meetings, and of course we'd stay for a pizza. During our visits (no kids in those days), we tried 135 different beers, and of course we religiously recorded them in the beer books that used to be by the cash register. We came in yesterday 02 Sep 18, and the books were gone!! OMG!! Thankfully, they are not trashed but stored in back, and we were able to retrieve and photograph our beer list. We also downloaded the B&J's app, and will work on logging our brews the 21st century way :) That's the only change we saw: hey still have their beer club, they still hand-toss the pizza, the bartenders are still awesome and beer nerds, and the dining room has not changed a bit since we were here. There is great comfort in that, since we feel at home here in our once-every-few-years visits as we did when we were in here every month. Ok, enough nostalgia. How was the pizza and the experience? I alluded to the pizza earlier - hand- tossed homemade crust, their special recipe sauce and fresh vegetables make for a great pizza! Our favorite pizza is the B&J's Special -- the pizza with everything including jalapeños, pineapple, and anchovies!! B&J's is the only place I have found that does anchovies right: whole fillets laid ON TOP of the toppings so they get crispy and crunchy and yummy in the oven, which reduces the fishiness and makes the anchovies blend better with the other ingredients, especially the pineapple. Trust me: when you bite into a B&J's special and get a bite of the crispy salty blast of anchovy and a burst of sweet pineapple and a wallop of spicy jalapeño, your tastebuds will do a happy dance! Wash it down with a locally brewed B&J's beer or one of the hundreds of other interesting global beers or microbrews. B&J's on SPID looks humble on the outside (ok, and inside too), but it's a great place to visit a spell with friends old and new, cool off with delicious beers, and have a great pizza. 5 destination-pizza-place stars! read more

Corpus might as well be new to me since I never spent much time actually in town everytime I have visited in the past. With that, this past weekend was my first real chance to explore Corpus and some of the solid eateries it sports. In cases like this, usually one of the first places I try to sniff out is a great local pizza joint. The girlfriend pointed to B & J, and off we went. Upon immediately entering, I knew I would like this place. With the massive beer selection in the cooler staring you in the face as you walk in, it is hard not to like it. Unless you don't like beer...blasphemy! The service and the staff were pretty laid back. You just order up front, grab whatever beers you like from the cooler, and pay at the end. We rolled with the Jack's Special. I liked their pizza as it wasn't too cheesy and I would say the crust is the best part. It can be described as thinner crust, since it is not quite thin crust, though not as thick as your standard pizza fare, either. Polishing my meal off with a nice brew from Southern Star, we both agreed that our trip was a success. Needless to say, the great beer selection and simplicity of the place will have you salivating before you even order your pizza. If you love microbrews and divey-laid back pizza joints as I do, then this is your spot. read more

My family and i decided to have a lunch at this great pizza place. We enjoyed everything. Just because we were first timers there. They let us have drinks on them. That was cool. Loved the pizzas. We stayed there for a while enjoying the atmosphere and great company. The only said part was i was charged a set amount and paid as agreed but the store added an additional 30$ after it got cleared. Well, one of my favorite places for wings has severely gone down hill. I ordered wings tonight and a young man named Eddie took my order. I expressed my concern as when I ordered the habanero wings and ghost pepper wings two weeks ago everything was only sweet, no spice whatsoever. He assured me it would be correct tonight. What a moronic way to run a business. Zero ambiance. The next day ... While I am just as annoyed today as yesterday about the after 5 pm policy, I'll have to admit that the pizza is particularly good.
