Fantastic pizza, ghastly service. I went to place a to-go order and asked the cashier about the daily takeout specials. Right off the bat, she seemed unfriendly and mildly sarcastic like she was having a bad day or didn't want to be there. Whatever, we all have days like that-- I just wanted my pizza so I placed an order and when I was charged, I noticed that I was charged full price instead of the daily special price. I think it was something like BOGO toppings. When I asked the cashier why I was charged full price she simply shrugged and told me my card was already charged and there was nothing we could do about it now. No attempt at apology or suggestion on how to make it right. I really didn't want to have my food defiled in any way by this patent unprofessional, so I let it go. I used to drive 35 minutes one-way from my house to pick up this fabulous pizza when I needed a real treat. Something about the cheese combination they use is absolutely magical. I used to praise this pizza as my favorite NY-style pizza in Corpus and order boxes to-go when I dined in. Though the pizza is still wonderful and would highly recommend to anybody, I've got better things to do than drive over an hour round trip to be assailed by crap service and bait and switch pricing. It seemed to be one of those meals that whatever could go wrong, did. Probably the biggest thing that happened was the waitress walking into the swinging doors and dropping my pizza on the floor. I felt sorry for her because I think she hurt her hand. I ran out of water for a long time and the men's room was out of paper towels. The food did taste good however. I wouldn't consider this New York style pizza but it still tasted good. I ordered some cheesy garlic bread as well as the 12" pepperoni pizza. If I am a local, I would not hesitate to order take out. We found this restaurant by default, and I am so glad we did! They accommodated 28 of us. Let me start with the women who welcomed us was so nice and attentive to our party. It's been too long since I've been in New York to say "authentic" but it was a great pizza. Enough toppings without overpowering it (except some seedy jalapeños - so maybe just think about that before you order jalapeños). The crust is delicious and the sauce is good! The price surprised us because it didn't match what was advertised online, but we ended up with a pretty big pizza for the price so overall it was a good deal. Omg!!!! You can't go wrong with this pizza place. I took my team of 15 girls and 3 coaches and the service was AWESOME! The food was even better. The pizzas, wings, garlic cheese bread, and plates were piping hot and sooooo tasty. Everyone ended up taking food home. The pricing is well worth the amount and quality of food you get here. Food wise - it is Mediocre. Quite disappointed with the pizza. The margherita's basil would taste better if it was not burnt or added after the pizza was baked. Shrimp scampi was too sour & salty for my husband. But the taste was more appealing to my toddler. Their wings are good enough and can have 2 flavors for a 12 pcs wings. Customer service - The staff was amazing & welcoming. They made sure that you are well attended. Ambience - Outside it was simple but the parking space are ample. This place is a little, hidden gem on the Southside of town. It's not much to look at, inside or out, but it makes up for it in hospitality and the PIZZA! The service is top-rate! You're greeted the second you walk in and nothing but smiles and excellent service the whole time you're there. I was with a couple of friends and this was our first time here. We looked at the menu.... simple enough. We were struck, though, that they only make one size of pizza, 16-inch (aka LARGE, GRANDE, an Italian Sombrero!!). Yeah, it's not really 16 inches, it's around 20 inches! All their pizzas are hand-tossed so no two are going to be exactly the same size, but they're all going to be massive and very good. But, again, this was our first time so we naively ordered two pizzas, all "half-this-half-that" kind of thing. AND, we ordered some hot wings to try while we waited. I can see Julia Roberts in my head now, "BIG mistake, BIG, HUGE!" If you're expecting the typical fried wings with red hot Buffalo sauce, forget it. These are baked and just DROWNED in some kind of sauce that had more vinegar than heat. If we hadn't ordered the wings, this would easily have been a 5-star review. So, do yourself a favor, DON'T order the wings (unless you're really that curious). In fact, you shouldn't order ANY appetizer because you'll regret filling up on that when your bodacious pizza arrives. And so it did. My Lord, this tiny waitress is lugging a manhole cover! The pizzas are HUGE, steaming hot and LOADED with tasty toppings. One SLICE has got to be close to a pound! The first slice I tried was the "meat lovers." It had CHUNKS of fresh-made Italian sausage (no kidding, it's made right there), pepperoni, meatballs, ham and (we opted for) jalapenos. It was AMAZING good! The crust is thick, with a nice, crispy bottom and as fresh as can be. The ends are like breadsticks. Awesome! The other thing I like about their pizzas is, it's not dripping with sauce. It's got just enough to make a really good base for the toppings. Good sauce! I also tried a ricotta and sausage slice. Normally, I'm not a big fan of thick globs of ricotta, but this works. It's so fresh and creamy and just loaded with flavor. They import it from New York, along with the pepperoni. But, what made it work for me was that Italian sausage on it. The texture and flavor is really, really good. Another excellent slice but, as big a guy as I am, two slices was all I could muster. We had the equivalent of a whole pizza plus a couple slices left over. I'm talking HUGE pizzas but easily some of the best pizza I've ever had. I'd put it in the top 3 of places in the area to get a pizza. So, if you can put up with the construction woes on Staples St and you find this little jewel, go inside and be expected to have a good time and great pizza. .....PS: unless you've actually PERFORMED on one, please stay off the piano! read more

How have I lived here my entire life and not known about this unbelievably delicious pizza?!? We ordered one for take out. My son said the ambiance was family friendly and clean. The price for 18 inch pizza is very affordable. I requested a base Alfredo sauce, which to my surprise was a homemade! The crust was absolutely perfect and flavorful. The veggies were fresh, honestly the tomatoes almost tasted home grown. I have not had a pizza THIS delicious in 17 years! The pizza didn't arrive home as hot as I would have liked, but that may not have been their fault. It was nice to actually speak to a human when we placed our takeout order. The lady was pleasant and happy to customize our pizza to my picky liking. They were so proud of it, they asked to photograph it before my son left to bring it home. Loved our waitress. Super sweet Hubby got a sausage pizza. Loved the sausage they use. But the crust was a little too thick for his liking. I got a child's spaghetti with a marinara sauce. Nah, nothing special at all. No real flavor in the sauce. Pretty much out of a can. This is hands down the BEST pizza I've had. Too often, when you get New York style pizza, the crust gets soggy from grease and you are left with a floppy piece of pizza. Not the case here. Thank toppings are fantastic, especially the house made Italian sausage. The crust maintains its form and doesn't become soggy from grease. Also, the flavor of the crust is GREAT . The sauce is flavorful and light- they put just the right amount on. If I didn't live 2 hours away, I'd be here all the time. San Antonio has good pizza, but I haven't found anything in this league. We came in for the first time in a while and weren't sure if we'd get pizza or (for the first time) try something else on the menu. We opted for something different and I got the Chef's Combo lunch special and my wife tried the Italian Herb Chicken over linguini. Again, fantastic service. The servings are easily good for two people. The Herb Chicken was done perfectly with the chicken falling off the bones. My dish was delicious and could have made 1 1/2 meals if I weren't so hungry at the moment. There weren't too many people in the place at lunch time. It might be the location not being at the front of the center and kinda back away from view. I hope they do something to bring more attention their way...they need to stay in business for a LONG time. We would miss a local treasure if we lost this pizza import. Go here. Wow!, talk about some great tasting pizza. My family enjoyed a supreme and a pepperoni/sausage pizza. We also tried their fresh buffalo style wings. We were stuffed! We were greeted by at least 3 staff members upon entering and that attention stayed the entire visit. Great to hear some New York accents.. Place is nice and simple, just a relaxing atmosphere.
