For Valentine's Day me and my partner decided, like last year to go to Corpus Christi for two reasons: we thought Valentine's Day would not be crazy and the ocean is our happy place. Of course I was wrong. Our usual spot was packed to the brim but as usual we had a good time. The next day the trip to our usual pit stop was unceremoniously closed. Our hunger meter was slowly approaching towards "Hangry." The day before we noticed a place in a restaurant group called "B&J's" that offered pizza, grinders( a Michigan Staple) and brewed their own craft beer. When we got there before opening at noon, cars slowly started to fill up available parking spaces. I always see this as a good sign. In addition I always survey a menu before I go to any spot. My opinion is that it is always good to have a Plan B just in case a situation arises. And with traveling, there will always be variables So we went inside and it was not at all what I expected. A brewpub, to me denotes a seemingly mature crowd. Instead families were visiting to have parties. I saw a couple there for a date. Every demographic young and old was represented. It was extremely welcoming. So I ordered their lunch special that comes with a drink and an 8 inch pizza. And my partner went with an Italian Grinder. It's basically counter service. And you sit where you want. Me, like Norm from "Cheers" I am drawn to where the tapwall is. The interior feels like a lived in pizza joint with lots of stories. There is ample seating but judging by the birthday parties happening it fills up quickly. By the time I got to the bar's counter all the lights were on. Hanging from the ceiling was a chandelier made of taphandles of all the breweries that have traversed here. I wondered how some of those places regionally, nationally and locally made it here? Corpus Christi is like an island with hidden gems abound. No matter. I pounded on thee counter as any seafaring matey from San Antonio, Texas would do. They have a good selection of beers on tap and in cans. The tapmaster, Mikey poured me a pint of the Red Eye PA, an Imperial IPA. No sooner did my pour come to me that the food also arrived. My pizza was good as well as the grinder. The service is excellent here. Firstly tapmaster Mikey was an extremely friendly and knowledgeable server. I can tell he is passionate about the beers and food served there. As a craft beer enthusiast I enjoy talking to likeminded people. And talking to him was like having a conversation with a walking encyclopedia. He definitely made our detour worth the trip. We are already making plans to visit again soon. B&J's Pizza and Brewpub is an excellent place to bring families, friends, dates and birthday parties. The pizza is good. The beers are great. And the service is excellent. We had an amazing experience there. I think I have found a new spot when we are in Corpus Christi. ps. Any place that has a "Busted Sandal Brewing Co." sticker on their wall will get 5 stars from me, all day! read more

They moved us for no reason didn't move anyone else 2 I noticed some of the workers giving no good looks at my nephew and little sisters 3 had to wait 50 mins for the pizzas (it was discovered that the workers were more focused on closing than making the pizza 4 you can see into the kitchen, and it was stated that there were pizzas about to fall while everybody was cleaning up and making pizzas at the same time, but they had no problems swiping my stepmom's card 5 the garlic bread is a size of hotdog buns because they used hot dog buns ( not worth $14) 6 the lady taking our order didn't listen ( or just choice not to) to my stepmom and put down the wrong name and now 10 ish mins later I feel sick and I can only hope my baby nephew doesn't right now read more

Ok I would have given this place 5 stars because it is our local pizza place. Bar tenders are 5 stars, house brews 5 stars, employees 5 stars, new ham 0 stars. First off let me say that I've been going to B&Js for probably 25 years & they are my favorite pizza place. I decided to place an online order since that was recommended in their voicemail recording when I called their southside location. I placed my order at 5:26pm & figured it would probably take an hour for my order to be ready. After about an hour I checked the status of the order & it still showed as "in preparation". I periodically checked the status & kept getting the same message. So at 7:30, 2 hours after placing my order I went to the store, stood in the same line for customers who were dining in just to find out if my order was ready, which it was. Unfortunately the pizza was luke warm & soggy because it probably had been sitting on top of the oven for probably close to an hour. I really don't like leaving such a negative review for one of my favorite local restaurants but they seriously need to either hire more people or get a better system. They don't answer the phones when you call & you don't receive any type of status updates. Even now, 3 hours after my order was placed it still shows as "in preparation ". read more

I've been a regular customer for years. Love the food and the beer selection is excellent. However, this location has a problem that has been getting worse and that it has become a magnet for families who think it's okay to not supervise their small children. And I have never seen a manager do anything about it even though I have mentioned the problem repeatedly. Even in the bar room, this is a persistent problem. Last night there was these two little girls running all around the bar room, screeching, and practically blowing my ears out. And they were right next to the bar. I never saw a manager say a word. Moreover, the place feels like it hasn't been cleaned or dusted in 5 years. On 4th of July at lunch only 3 tables seated. One empty table if 12 with all the remains from a table that left before we got there. The table sat unbussed the entire time we were there and was still dirty when we left. But employees just standing around chatting and leaning when they should have been cleaning - staff behind the counter/ register were very nice and helpful but the rest of the crew just standing around - really too bad. It was my first time visiting this place, it was very busy due to graduations happening so the line to order was long. It's a very relaxed environment, big on the inside with lots of tables and they even brew their own beer. They have many beers to choose from aside from their own also. We sat outside on some wooden benches because our party was rather large, the tables were wobbly and warping, most likely because they sit out in the sun. It would be nice if they had some sort of covering outside over the tables. The service was good even though they had a limited wait staff and the pizza was very good. Well....moving here so giving it a go. Reviews tend to great pizza and not so great service. Here on Labor Day at 6pm. Not busy and sign says 30 minutes for a 12 inch pepperoni pizza and 1/2 dozen wings. Ordered and went to bar. They have Guinness on tap! However, bartender has no idea how to properly pour it. Eesh. 2 stars to the bar. Distributor needs to do some training or pull the beer. Hopefully kitchen will shine. Standby. Ok. Kitchen has redeemed the bad beer on tap (Guinness). The Laguinitas was fine. Pizza was paper thin, crispy and they didn't skimp on pepperoni. Tasty! And the wings? The sauce was wet, spicy but not overly so, and meat was cooked as it should be. I went into bj pizza and ordered the 3 meat and apple pie pizzas. About 3 hours later I was vomiting uncontrollably and had diarrhea. I ended up having to go to the hospital and they diagnosed it as food poisoning. I called and informed bj's what happened and asked for their insurance. They told me I need to provide proof. I told them I have a charge from bj and medical records. I was then offered a refund with a gift card to bj pizza. I eat bj pizza all the time and I loved bj pizza but this completely ruined it. I want nothing to do with pizza. I will be open to changing my review if I can get the assistance with my medical bills which would cost y'all nothing but an insurance claim. read more

We came down from San Antonio for a weekend on the beach and tried B& J Pizza on a recommendation from family members. The recommendation was a good one. First the bad. As others have mentioned B & J pizza staff is rather lax about cleaning tables. We got there at 7:30 on a Friday night and there were several empty tables but not one was clean. When we asked a staff member to bus a table for us she hesitated and seemed confused by the request. Overall the customer service was okay. Not great. Not terrible. But seriously B & J bus your tables! Customers shouldn't have to stand round waiting to intercept a staff member and request t get do their jobs. That being said we still had a great dinner at B& J Pizza Brew Pub. We ordered 6 of the Jack's wings and I seriously wish we'd ordered 12. My wife and I are huge wings fans and these were among the best I've had. We also ordered a Jack's Special pizza which was also very good. If B & J kept their tab;es bussed I'd give them an unequivocal 5 stars. But having to stand around until we could flag down a staff person to clean a table for us to sit at spoils the 5 star rating and was annoying. But from reading other reviews this is a pretty regular problem at B & J's. Fortunately the food is good enough to make that annoyance worth it. read more

Dropped in on our visit to Corpus. Always love trying great local beer and theirs was very good. Friendly folks and a typical pizza place menu on the other side. Getting the food took forever. Over 40 minutes a sub and a total of 55 minutes to get the pizza. The sub was ok and worth the $8 but the pizza's crust was soggy and didn't hold up to the toppings well. I am giving most of the 4 stars due to the beer and friendly bartender. They really need to work on getting food out faster. read more

Horrible service from kitchen. We arrived at 4:45 pm in hopes of getting our food promptly, as we've had issues in the past with having to wait nearly an hour for our food. Btw...we tipped 20% at the register. One person in our party received their pizza after 20 minutes wait, which was great. The rest of our party ordered subs, and we waited 40 minutes, then started noticing that people who arrived 20 minutes after us were getting their food. My husband went back to the counter to ask where we were in line...they couldn't find the order, and then they said 8 more minutes. When girl arrived at table, she put down two of the subs randomly, not even mentioning which was which, and said "I don't know who gets what," and just walked away. A few minutes later, the last sub arrived from another girl, and it was just dropped on the table. My husband said thank you, and the girl completely ignored him and walked off. My "Italian Grinder" consisted of ham and two pieces of pepperoni with a ton of iceberg lettuce. So disappointed...we will not be back. read more

We don't often eat at too many pizza places. It's so hard for us to agree on toppings, sizes, .....number of slices I can eat..... B&J's is one of those kinds of places you don't just go to for yourself or with just one other person. You go in a GROUP. There should be at least four people at your table and you should order no less than a 16-inch "Jack's Special" pizza (pepperoni, mushroom, sausage, onions and DOUBLE GARLIC! - WOW!!) with a matching order of chicken wings. The pizzas are excellent! I had a slice of Jack's, one of the "California Vegetarian," one of a cheese and double jalapeño (WHOA!) and one of the "B&J's Special." The crust is crispy, the toppings are fresh, the tomato sauce is just right as far as quantity on the pie. .....oh, yeah, there were about 16 of us in a group..... While the service for ordering and getting the pizzas was quite good, the service at the beer bar was INCREDIBLY slow!! There was ONE guy behind the bar and he was clearly overwhelmed - it was a busy Saturday night. All I wanted was two of those "pony" bottles of Cabernet; no beer, nothing fancy. My pizza got COLD while I was up there waiting to get the drinks. That's the only thing that keeps this from being a 5-star review. Prices are good. Noise levels are quite up there so be prepared for that. But, again, you're with a group, 1001 different kinds of beer flowing, hot pizza and wings on the table. Kick back and enjoy the good times.
