Our intention was to try a few of the different specialty cake/bakery stores in the Springfield, IL area, but after meeting Dena and tasting her incredible cupcakes, there was no need. She had the most delicious freshly baked cupcakes waiting for us and was very helpful on design ideas and budget needs. So affordable! She truly cared about what we wanted and I was impressed with how fun and welcoming her bakery is. It is as colorful as she is! I have so many things to stress about leading up to the wedding, but this is not one of them! The venue is on the northwest side of Springfield and she was more than happy to deliver and set up everything at our venue, we just have to sit back and wait for the goodies to arrive! So it was a great and fun way to celebrate local. I enjoyed an iced version of their special Javapaloza drink. It was a Salted Caramel Macadamia Nut Latte. As a treat, I had Avocado Toast. I loved that they whip the avocado and just don't slice it and put it on a piece of toast. My latte and toast made for a perfect light breakfast. Of course, before I left I had to buy a container of Chicken Salad. Typically I don't like grapes in my chicken salad, but theirs is an exception. The red grapes and the seasoning, makes it a real treat. I also had to grab, an Apple Fritter and Blueberry Muffin. They were my breakfast for the next two days. The customer service is exactly what you'd expect from a small town bakery. It's friendly and down-home.

Located about two miles from I-64 along the main road (Hanover), it is easy to find. There is a sign on the side of the building that indicated if you need assistance they would bring your selection out to you, which would be a sign of excellent customer service. The short walk from the parking lot along the paved sidewalk leads to a set of double doors and narrow steps into the retail area. This could certainly be an issue for those with limited mobility. Once you are into the retail area, you are greeted by the friendly staff and several display cases of the day's selection. The staff apologized for the limited selection, but I honestly found many great items. I am intrigued as to just how much more extensive their selection would be when they first open. They have the typical danishes, (cherry, apple, cheese, OMG THEY HAVE A GERMAN CHOCOLATE DANISH!!!!). There was a wide selection of donuts and other assorted pastries, and several items which brought back fond memories. We walked out with a couple boxes of treasure for a very reasonable price.
