Stopped here on our way from Maxwell to Birmingham for a weekend trip. Absolutely great. Not quite five stars just because there's no brisket (Maybe that's an Alabama thing?) but the pork was outstanding. We got the family pack with a pound of chopped pork butt and a half slab of ribs. Sides were cole slaw and beans. Chopped Pork: Great flavor. Good smokiness and not overly salty. Another positive indicator is that it is not served already sauced. The sauce was certainly complementary (More on that later) but the pork stands alone just fine. The only critique I really had was that it was a little dry, but my guess is that it was a result of getting there kind of late in the day. It might be a better idea to wait until the order to chop the pork so it stays on the bone as long as possible and doesn't dry out. Really shouldn't add that much to the service timeline. Ribs: Awesome rub. I would buy the rub by itself...and then try to take it apart to improve mine! Half rack was more meat than I expected. For my taste they were a little overcooked. Not dry, just too tender (Not usually a complaint) but my wife loves them that way and she thought they were awesome. Cole Slaw: Again, very nice creamy cole slaw that isn't swimming in liquid and soggy. Still had texture and good balance of tang and sweet. Beans: If anything they were overseasoned, but I love that kind of taste. I enjoy very bold slap you in the face flavors and that's exactly what these were. Kids loved them too! Finally...the sauce: This is probably the most tomatoey sauce I've ever tasted. It was not bad at all and definitely went well with the meats. It would probably be over the top for beef but was spot on for the pork dishes. I would guess that it isn't a house product, but nonetheless it was good. As far as prices? I think the family pack with pork (Two sides, 1# of chopped pork and bread) was about $19, the half rack was $9. If you wanted the family pack with a full slab it was around $25. Don't remember what their lunch specials were but they did sell bbq sandwich and rib plates as well as a bunch of other random stuff. I would recommend it. We paid cash so I can't speak to whether or not the take cards. read more

Best ribs ever!!! The chopped pork was 3.5 star. Really good but not the best. The ribs however were just amazing. Juicy and flavorful, the tomato sauce accents it perfectly. Oh and get the peach cobbler you won't be disappointed read more

A hidden gem off 65! So glad we stopped on our long road trip. Top notch food. We ordered the family platter pork dinner, two sides, and four drinks (plus a piece of pie). Traveling South to Gulf Shores and craving bbq....thanks to Yelp, we scored great food! We sat on the patio and enjoyed pork bbq, nachos, potato salad and baked beans...everything was delicious. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the 4 of us like different types of sauce and there was only one option (sweet)...would prefer to have variety. In conclusion, definitely worth the trip and we will definitely stop again when in the area! read more

Def a no frills bbq joint pretty near the 65 interstate. Limited menu, but yum. We had bbq sandwich meal w 2 sides for 4 for around 20$. They give you a healthy generous serving of pork. We were able to get 6 sandwiches out of it. We always order the baked beans and potato salad. Extremely nice folks working there. Very small dine in area, larger covered outdoor area. Again,very small not fancy looking but the pulled pork is fab. Wish we lived closer we would go more, but we do hit it up 2-3x/year when headed south. read more

DONT' JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!!! We visited this afternoon for lunch while passing thru on our way home from vacation. Some might pass on this restaurant because it doesn't have the elegant outside that draws a crowd, but they would be missing out. We had the BBQ pork sandwich plate with potato salad and loved it. So much that my son and I had to go back for a second sandwich. We finished that off with some banana pudding that will quite frankly, make your tongue smack your brains. If you are the type of person that has to be seated by a hostess and sit at matching tables and chairs, don't bother. Stopped to get gas off the exit and while looking around realized been there before, so drove down and there it was just as thought, so had to stop as had been there a few years ago while traveling. Friendly people and good food, would recommend for sure, prices are good as well! Just got my Fourth of July slab of ribs for my family here, and it was absolutely perfect. They brought it right out to me in less than a minute, and it was fall-off-the-bone tender, but not too melty to eat like normal! Go here expecting great BBQ, sides, and dessert!!! Do not; however, expect a fine dinning experience. This is one of those places that is in business because the food quality is superb. I highly recommend the ribs, potato salad, and beans as that is what I had on my first (and only so far) visit. I shared a slab with my 13 year old and my wife had a pork plate that she shared with the 10 year old. They enjoyed theirs as well, but absolutely tore up the banana pudding!!! Note that there is limited indoor seating (seats 10). There is outdoor seating as well but it is Alabama so it is hit and miss on heat and flies. read more
