Skip the burger. Onion rings were great. Ambiance inside is good, but the dumpster location and terrible smells pretty much ruins that going out. Good service and friendly. We enjoyed stopping here, but smell was pretty overpowering outside. Make sure you park away from the creek side! read more

This was my first time eating here. Come for lunch with a friend who recommended it. I had the pork plate with baked beans, mac & cheese, onion rings and a banana pudding. The portions were decent size (larger then most chains) and everything was hot & fresh. I had to bring the banana pudding home to eat later. The service was very friendly and fast. The prices are on par with other bbq joints. It is a small place with limited seating but it's clean and an overall pleasent experience. I will definately go back and highly recommend it. read more

Drove out of my way to try this place based on the Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, it was mostly a waste of my gas and my time. I'll start with the good points - fries, okra, and onion rings - while nothing more than your standard previously frozen and then deep fried bbq joint staples - were served hot and fresh and actually quite delicious. For the "needs improvement" points: 1) although I was the only person in line to order, I waited 8-10 minutes to even be acknowledged while one of the cashiers counted money. One of the other cashiers finally asked if I'd been helped, which I hadn't been. 2) began placing my order for three chopped pork sandwiches, but..."we don't have anymore pork - smoker is broken". 3) ordered three chopped brisket sandwiches instead. All three arrived sliced and untrimmed, with LOTS of fat. 4) sent the sandwich back to be chopped. Upon returning them to our table, no apology or acknowledgment of the error. 5) the beef had no bark and no smoke flavor. Overall, it seemed there was general lack of accountability from staff and a lack of any management presence. I've been waiting quite a while to give this one a try, so I was quite disappointed with the experience. I sure hope the owners will take the feedback and effect some positive change. Tin Top is a tiny restaurant with a walkup window or you can order at the counter when you walk in. There were a ton of choices. We ordered 3 bbq sandwiches. The large was huge. Should have ordered the small. The small special was $7.50 for sandwich, chips and drink. The large was 10.50 for sandwich drink and 1 side. The sandwich comes prepares with a tasty sauce and pickles. We also ordered the appetizer of fried pickles. It was a large basket full of yummy fried goodness. I had a side of baked beans. Was coming through town with family and found it by using Yelp. Kinda a small dinning room with out side seating. Staff was very friendly. They are a good wait but that to be expected for fresh made food. For a family of 2 and 1 kid price was about $33. Got kids grill cheese, Buffalo chicken Mac N cheese, and full brisket nachos. Food is top notch. A good solid meat and 3. We both had grilled pork chop and a side salad - he had fried okra and potato salad. I had Mac and cheese and collards. Also served with two large and thick pieces of white bread. We were both satisfied with our meals and wrapped up what we couldn't finish to take home! What to expect: there are no waitstaff - you pick up your own paper menu when you walk in and go to counter to place your order. They give you a number so they can bring your food to your table. They provide the cups so you can get your own drink, and the tableware is plastic and included inside the "to go box" your meal is served in even though you are eating in. Some local guys inside suggested the nachos (which isn't what I wanted to order) so I ordered that w/ brisket and wowzers!!!! I was shocked how awesome it was. Roadside in a gravel lot, with smoke filling the air, stands a joint that looks like an embodiment of American countryside. It's real, it's unpretentious and it's popular. As one steps inside, the wooden walls seem to create a sense of cozyness and comfort, with a menu that can satisfy any BBQ lover. Let's start with the main thing that any self proclaimed BBQ lover gets, it's the ribs. They are soft and flavorful from the smoke, with portions crossing into a territory of being able satisfy multiple people. Some of the ribs were a bit on the burnt side and the skin was tough, but still good. Can't say they are the best, but solid. The Mac and cheese was not something to brag about, very generic cheese with that pre-packed kraft-y flavor to them. The potato salad was wonderful. Patrons here are mostly local folks, coming to enjoy a delicious meal and share a few laughs. There is even a pretty good patio outback. We came by tonight and ordered 2 hamburger steaks. We got them in 5 minutes and I know why. They were the worst that we have ever ate. My wife and I couldn't even finish them. I don't know what kind of meat it was but it didn't taste like any hamburger steak that I've ever ate. I don't recommend them. We probably will not be back to this location again.
