Good breakfast place at this particular B&M location. They serve lots of different breakfast dishes. Varieties with french toasts, fresh fruits, bacon sausage and eggs, omelets... you name it. We tried out their banana crepes, benedict waffle, and french toast with maple syrup. Dishes were good in general. The waffle could be crispier (-1 star). One of my favourite casual brunch spots. I have been a loyal customer for years now. There are so many good things to say about B&M. THE LOCATION It's walking distance for me, but it is also easy to get to by public transit, and parking is reasonably easy. My family lives on the other side of town, and they still don't complain about meeting there for brunch. THE STAFF B&M has some of the friendliest, most professional staff you could ever want. They definitely take the time to get to know the regulars, and while they efficient, they don't make you feel rushed. I know a lot of the staff by name, and many of them remember my "usual" regardless of how long I go between visits (the pandemic proved that). THE AMBIANCE The terrasse is fine for a warm summer day (you are up against the street, so that can be awkward at times, but it's typical of the 'hood). The indoor space is bright and open, with lots of windows and comfy seating. There's room for small groups (around 8 people) and cozy seating for 2. There's also a counter you can sit at, if you are on your own. Every seat in the house is a good seat. THE FOOD There's so much choice and everything is delicious. I have concocted my own brunch, and there's never any issue with ordering something your own way. They have fantastic pancakes, challah French toast, omelettes, bagels, Benedicts, and all sorts of yummy sides like fruit bowls and potatoes. There should be something for everyone, even the fussy eaters. THE VALUE It's not super cheap, but it's worth what you pay for it. The prices are comparable to any other casual brunch place in town. The food here was not good. I wished I would have done my research but this was the worst meal we had while traveling through Canada. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and potatoes. The cheese on the sandwich was like the fake Kraft cheese and the potatoes were greasy and tasted old. We also ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was so tough and lacked flavor. After 30 years of ordering spaghetti from this restaurant the order came with undercooked spaghetti. I called and was told if you want it cooked not al dente you have to ask to have it well cooked. So for 30 years it was cooked properly, and now they screwed up my order but I was told basically it was my fault. This restaurant is hit and miss sometimes pizza is like it was always and sometimes not edible. What a shame they make a mistake but it is my fault. I've been visiting Montreal for several weeks. I've had breakfast at B & M numerous times during my stay. The food is fresh, delicious and always served hot. The omelettes and scrambled eggs were my "go to" items. Besides an open dining room, they have bar seating and a few bar tables by the window. Perfect for solo diners! The service was some of the best I experienced while in Montreal. The servers were friendly, hard working, and very professional. I really enjoyed chatting with them when they had a few moments to spare. B&M is located in the Mile End which is a cool, hipster neighborhood, a little off the beaten tourist path. Stopped by here to conclude our weekend vacation to grab a quick breakfast. Nice little quaint place. It fill ups fast so I suggest arriving early to beat the crowds. Nicely decorated. Food is good, customer service needs a lot of work. Took awhile to get coffee, no water until I asked the bus boy for a third time. Due to allergies, asked for NO fruit to come to table. Ordered omelet and special breakfast. What arrives is omelet with fruit. Sent it back and kitchen gives us a difficult time to remake the order. Then my breakfast arrived and it also has fruit. Waiter even told the kitchen, I overheard this, that no special request was made, did not say no fruit. Maybe I need to be clearer with my explanation, "no fruit at the table " seems too challenging for this group. Atmosphere is nice. Went for dinner tonight, it took 1 hour for 3 of us to get our food from the time the order was placed. We asked a few times and the waitress said the kitchen was backed up, the the restaurant was only 1/2 full. When I went to speak to the owner, she already was aware of the problem and blamed the waitress - said she had not put the order in and told me not to tip her. I said that I thought the restaurant should do something to compensate us, and she repeated "don't tip her". Two things, I think the waitress should have admitted her mistake and apologized, and the owner should have offered a small token, maybe a free desert or something similar. I will think twice before going back, though I like the food. read more

I always get the same thing at breakfast, 2 eggs with bacon (8$ here) Bonus points for offering baguettes as a bread option and they did include 4 strips of bacon. However they lose 2 stars for the less-than-warm service and for NOT INCLUDING coffee. Does any other (non-chain) restaurants even do this? This is a local brunch spot and you'll see many families there with their young children (gets loud). The decor is very clean and minimal with a lovely open bar/kitchen section. Overall a very mediocre brunch, if you're in a pinch B&M will do. They are not lacking for different breakfast options and you'll definitely be able to find something to eat. Nice little breakfast and lunch spot in the Mile End. It's a little small, so I would warn against big groups coming here but they do have 1 large table spot. They serve lots of different breakfast dishes, and is my go to spot for an early morning feast. Their portions are pretty big and the price point is on the money for what you get. Pretty much everything is served with a skewer of fresh fruit and many items come with a side of roasted potatoes which are my favorite part honestly. The crepes are pretty big, as are the omelletes. Make your own or go for one of their signatures. I prefer the 3 cheese omellete or their rolled crepe which is stuffed with meats like sausage and ham. This place also has fresh orange juice, squeezed! It's fun to watch the machine. Felt it was worth mentioning. One downside is service can be a bit slow. They feel understaffed on the waiters side. They've always been nice, but it can take a brutally long time to get the bill. Twice I was left stranded trying to get out. But I enjoy the food, prices, and the spot so it's not a killer problem. Terrible place for brunch. The food was so standard. It tasted so bland and it was such a boring environment. I ordered a spinach and mozzarella sand which with breakfast potatoes on the side. The sandwiches don't even come with anything, I had to order a side dish. Their breakfast potatoes weren't even that good. Who messes up breakfast potatoes?! The sandwich came in this clunky plate with so much place to spare but they brought the potatoes on a separate plate for no reason. The sandwich had a pickle on top but that was pretty much it for presentation. It was such a careless restaurant with a staff that was unenthusiastic. I was there to catch up with a friend and they were making so much noise I couldn't hear her most of the time. I'm going to give this place a 2 stars because the food was adequate and I'm assuming the waiter was having a bad day. Wonderful food with bright lively interior. I love their menu - everything you want from a good brunch place. All the classics and nothing too complicated or strange. Good brunch food for a great price. Now what really earns them the five star review is their service. We had the liveliest happiest waiter and it seemed to be an infectious spirit throughout the restaurant.When you feel happy you will enjoy the food even more. I would like to note that they had technically closed the kitchen but my friend had ordered a burger without realizing they didn't come with fries. Just to give yelpers an idea of how good this place was, I literally walked for an hour just to be able to eat here for the second day in a row. The food was delectable, the waffle Benedict had a great combination of flavors. The plates come with a fruit skewer that is fresh and tasty. Their orange juice is made in house right in front of you. The service was also another highlight as the staff are warm and welcoming. So my boyfriend and I went with a friend for breakfast. It was our first time and definitely will be our last. Right away, the waitress (marilou), was hostile towards us. Upon ordering she made us aware of a bunch of "policies" that this place has such as a $3 sharing fee ($3 for the same quantity of food and you get an extra empty plate???) She then explained that if we ordered ANY side dish, we would get a free coffee. Which you only get one refill of coffee??? The food then arrived, and the "french toast" side that we ordered was 1 lousy piece of bread that was $4. Ok fine, ridiculous for one piece of toast. When we received the bill, we noticed that the waitress had charged us $2 for the coffee. Upon questioning, the waitress became extremely hostile, pointed her finger at me, called me a liar when I asked her about what she said and eyeballed me as if she was going to attack me. She denied what she said before about the free coffee. When I asked to speak to the manager regarding this. In the middle of our interaction with the manager Marilou interrupted the manager to yell at us "if you cant afford it dont come!", which is insulting our financial status. As we tried to reply to her insult she kept on screaming at us with vulgar gestures. Her manager had to repeatedly tell Marilou to back off. We even overheard the clients around us talking about how Marilou started this whole thing. Working in customer service myself, I can never imagine saying this to a paying customer. The point was not the $2 for the coffee, its the fact that she tried to rip off young university students and she fought with us, interrupted us when we tried to justify our point to the manager. In the end, the charge was taken off and the manager apologized to us. Marilou did NOT apologize to us. We will definitely not be coming back as we strongly do not recommend this restaurant at all. For those who do not heed our warning be ware of the big bad Marilou. Please note she clearly has unsolved personal issues for which she lashed out at us, (overweight, brunette, blue eyes, in her 50s). read more

The spot is one of my favourite go-to-eat place for week end morning. I also went a couple times for dinner meeting with new clients. The decor is modern and well executed. I really liked how they played with the dark and bright furniture. The food is good. I went more then 10 times and I never had any problems at all. Service is quick, i always get served by the same lady every weekend, she is very nice. The ambiance is not too loud, perfect for conversations. Very lightful too. Some parking on Bernard, and around in the neiberhood, I always find spots, don't worry about that one. Free WIFI, that's always a plus for meetings. My friends and I were walking by and noticed the place was pretty full so I used my normal assumption that when a place is full, it must be good... and it was. It was more than good (except for maybe the coffee). I had Avocat et Chévre (might be misspelling it. I know 0 french). Great meal after a mishap with the Bagel. We went to this Bagel Place called St. Viatur thinking you get Bagel with spread and well some coffee or chocolate but this is not the place for that. Just buy your Bagel and leave with the option of buying a whole tub of spread..... anyways we ended up and the B&M. The food was great, Waffle Benedict awesome and the avocado Goat Cheese Benedict as well. Very pretty presentation. Nice atmosphere, very attentive staff.
