For the Holidays there are always a set of flowers already put together. It was Thanksgiving and I was nervous there wouldn't be a lot to choose from. This particular set of flowers looked so Thanksgivingy and beautiful. I gave these for a gift for my grandmother. My grandmom was so in love with them and always keeps flowers on her table. I love these people. They did the flowers for my sweet sixteen 13 years ago, and they continue to do exceptional work. When my wedding flowers were a disaster after I trusted a church friend to do them, and my mom saw me crying as soon as I got a glimpse of my wedding bouquet, she knew the only way to save the day was to call Metro to have them do an exceptional white rose and mini kala bouquet with rhinestones. We visited Metro since it was the preferred flower vendor for our venue Terrace on the Park. When planning a wedding, many people provide mixed reviews when going with the preferred vendors but this one is a must! Lina, Giovani, and the entire Metro team performed a fabulous job and blew our expectations away. Lina met with us several times, always patient and wanting us to achieve the vision we wanted for our wedding day. She never pressured us but did suggest options, ideas and offered expertise when we would get stuck on an idea. Metro provided centerpieces, designed over a few sessions, that met the theme and feeling we were looking for. The centerpieces exuded vibrancy, beauty, elegance and nature with a secret garden feel. The bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages and flowers for the aisle of the church also followed this theme on a smaller scale. Lastly, we opted for a sweetheart table with backdrop and floral cake decorations. They were wow factor for the big day that everyone loved! The runner of flowers, the arch above and the mini bouquets of flowers on the tiered cake all brought the table centerpieces and wedding party together. It felt like a royal wedding. read more

We hire them for our 25th anniversary party but due to COVID we had to make a decision and cancel, we were not happy about it but need to be done. We contacted every vender we had and they were so nice to help us out with our refund but metro florist, has been hard to deal with now before all this it was great friendly and helpful now they are dodging our calls and texts not being helpful at all. We are all going through hard times but some people I guess just don't understand so sad. read more

This company did a disgraceful job on my father's casket spray. The picture I saw to select this spray had lilies and I asked for extra lilies. The spray we received had no lilies at all. Many of the flowers were wilted and dying. Every time the spray was moved, petals dropped everywhere. Some of the "green" accents added to the spray were brown and dried out. We paid $300 for this. The funeral chapel secured a refund of $100 for us, but honestly, we should have been given a full refund. read more

9:15pm delivery of flowers, business lied to me saying that their "truck" was in route at 1pm, the actual van at the time of delivery was jam packed with other peoples orders. Rose bouquet didn't come as described with eucalyptus leaves (baby's breath instead) flowers weren't fresh either, on the third or fourth day half of the roses weren't unable to stand on their own and dead, and none of which bloomed anymore than the 1-2 that were blooming at time of delivery. By no stretch of the imagination was this a $115 bouquet of a dozen long stemmed roses, I regret purchasing through them on Floom and could have faired better for much cheaper with Bodega flowers. If i could give this place no stars I would. Instead of emailing or calling Alex sends text messages. They come in 9-10 messages. Not only is that irritating but in my opinion, it is extremely unprofessional. MFD was the second place that my fiance and I went to in search for flowers for our wedding. First off, we weren't acknowledged when we walked into the store. I had to interrupt the conversation (definitely not work related) two girls were having in order to let them know that we were there for our appointment. Instead of walking over to Alex she yelled across the room to let him know we were there. After a brief "hi" (no introduction at all) he asked us how much we were willing to spend. I understand a customers budget is extremely important but I absolutely hate when that's the first thing that comes out of someones mouth. I began to describe the arrangements that I wanted and listed all of my preferred flowers. Alex immediately made a face, laughed and told me those flowers (peonies and anemones) were way too expensive and not in season. I'm getting married next May. How are you going to tell me that peonies are not in season. I figured if he thought he couldn't get my flowers he would help us find something similar that could better fit our budget. Boy was I mistaken. He kept pushing that we use red roses. If I wanted red roses I would've asked for red roses. Thanks for nothing Alex. He has no interpersonal skills at all. We felt the whole consultation was based on making the sale so he can get paid. I asked him what would happen to the flowers that we use to decorate the church. He said that I can ask one of my guests to put them in their trunk and take them to my venue. Are you kidding me? Alex was extremely unprofessional, so was his staff. I was very disappointed after I left their shop. Instead of feeling hopeful after the appointment I was so distraught. All of my planning had been shot down in a matter of seconds. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There are definitely better shops in the neighborhood. Please do your research! read more

I can't believe the reviews that I'm reading !! :O Ever since my wedding in October I can't stop talking about the floral arrangements!!!!!!! Let's get a couple things down 1. My appointment - I walked in there with my husband without one and Alex took us in right away despite not being sure this was the florist we were going to use he still was able to help us and give us so many different ideas. 2. Communication - if I had any problem, I just emailed Alex which was convenient for me and he responded in what seemed to be a couple of minutes after. 3. Professionalism - I didn't really have face to face meetings with Alex when it came to my arrangements... I decided a couple times last minute to add more arrangements and he did with absolutely no problem. 4. The price - let's just say where I live in jersey the florists over here have an asking price for ONE center piece alone is 175 dollars !!!!!!! Don't want to give out prices about Metro but let's say that their asking prices for one center pieces for less than half the price of 175. 5. My wedding day - OMG. I went to pick up my bouquet myself so I can have it by the time me and my husband take our pictures I wanted something colorful and WOW JUST WOW I still keep thinking about it .. My bouquet was just gorgeous and never have I seen such a beautiful colorful floral arrangement for a brides bouquet. While doing my hair and makeup at my restaurant they were setting up the flowers downstairs I was a nervous wreck because I had no idea what anything looked like. When I walked out to the ballroom I was left SPEECHLESS. I won't bother describing anything because I have the pictures to prove everything I'm saying. As far as all of these bad reviews ... I'm not sure what the event was or who you people were but when you're paying for a service out of YOUR pocket you need to know how to be straight forward and on top of the whole thing. I was a bridezilla and made sure to stay in contact with Alex and I got the most beautiful arrangements. It's a family business that has existed for several years and they have 2 locations. I visited the Astoria office. If you go, ask for Yovany. He is the owner and super nice and very flexible - he is professional and will deliver on your vision. CONS: Their marketing methods were a little invasive. They obtained cell phone numbers from brides that attended a NY bridal show and directly texted me. I felt a little hussled, however when I went to see their branch and discussed pricing with Yovany, I decided to go with them. I think that with their years of service and great reviews, they shouldn't have to rely on this marketing method. They are also not as responsive. When you get Yovany on the phone, you get business done. Otherwise, you rarely hear back and you need to be active in reaching out to them for the information you want. PRICING: Yovany will work with you on pricing. They are flexible and want your business. I wanted top notch flowers (no centerpieces) and got a deal for $700. This included 3 bridesmaid bouquets, 1 tossing bouquet, 1 bride bouquet, 1 groom boutonniere, 5 groomsmen and fathers boutonnieres, 2 stems of red roses for mothers. Additionally, they threw in flower girl's satin basket and petals as a service item. read more

Melisa and Giovani were very flexible with me, and created the most beautiful arrangement's I've ever seen - using manzanita trees and beautiful candy table for a princess theme. They are a complete rip-off. They charge 25-30% more than any other company in NYC. I have invoices from 2 other companies which I will be posting shortly after this initial review to show the difference. Burton's florists in Long Island provides the same exact flowers for 30% cheaper and they are rated 5 stars on google. This company took my deposit and never advised of the refund/cancellation policy. Apparently the entire 20% deposit is not refundable and they did not advise this initially. My wedding is on 8/3/19 and they did not provide any service yet they are keeping $2400 of my money. They are thieves and liars and please please stay away if you'd like to get the most value out of your money and experience. If you like being ripped off then please feel free to stay with this company. We are using Myrna's magic moments instead and we are getting the same exact flower setup plus a digger for the dance floor, cold fireworks, a entire stage with 8 panels that has flowers everywhere and they are charging the same that metro florists was going to charge for just the flowers. This is going to be one of those situations where, despite the bad reviews, some poor sucker is still going to think "well it's only the opinions of 5 people in all of the nyc, i'll give it a shot" and they will sooner or later regret that decision. I'M TELLING YOU AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE A PISSY SUBWAY STOP!! I'm not to describe my experience, I'm going to give you a minute-by-minute list of events. Feb 21 11:10 am: I get a text from Alexander to confirm my 2 pm appointment for wedding flower consultation 12:26 pm: I respond saying yes I'm on my way, what's the address 12:59: Hey responds in Spanish. Luckily I can decipher... 1:45ish I arrive at the shop and inform the gentleman at the door that I have an appointment with Alexander. He tells me he's not there, and I say no problem, I'm super early and happy to wait. I wait 10 minutes. Meanwhile folks in the store are rushing around putting together what looks like a funeral arrangement. I notice some of the flowers in the arrangement are definitely dead. 2:10: no sign or word from Alexander. An employee calls him, says some things in Spanish then tells me he's on his way in 15 minutes. I don't like that much because that makes him almost 30 minutes late to our appointment, but I decide to wait. 2:30: Same lady calls again, says some stuff in Spanish. I know enough Spanish to know that "la muchacha esta esperando" means that this chick is still waiting for you. But she hangs up the phone and says nothing to me, 2:40 I notice the funeral wreath has a ribbon with "She had a wonderful LIVE" printed on it. 2:40:10: I get the fuck out of there. As they see me getting up, they ask if I'd like to reschedule. Defnitely not, thanks. 3:19: Alexander texts me asking how the appointment went. REALLY GUY!?!? read more

The wedding florist Alex reached out to the brides 2012. He was pleasant from the start. When my fiance and I schedule time to meet with him, he went over the different flowers, drapes, decors etc. We spent at least an hour or more there as he let us choose how we envision our wedding. Now comes the odd part - he gave us a quote and gave us a breakdown of the costs. When my fiance asked for an itemized copy of what was discusses, he was unwilling to provide it. It was as if he expected us to place our down payment without thought. Weeks after, he touch base with us and I asked for an itemized list of what was quoted. So, he promised to provide it to us. Did he keep it? Nope. We figured it best to choose someone reliable, keeps his or her word, and realistic about the figures projected to us. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. My boyfriend surprised me with flowers for Valentine's day-- he ordered the deluxe (red roses, pink Lilly's, and fillers with two balloons). What I received was a disgusting arrangement of dying, if not already dead flowers, no balloons, dried out fillers all jammed into a crystal vase. I was beside myself. I called the next day to have the Owner tell me to call again at 10 because his secretary wasn't in. At 10 he told me to call back in an hour. Finally I got a hold of someone who said they would send something new. It arrived, minus one balloon, missing 3 roses, in a smaller vase, and still dying. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!!!!!! If I can give negative review, I would. The owner probably got my cellphone information from one of the bridal shows and start calling me. First time when I received the call, I was at work so I just told him that I cannot talk right now. Alex said we can talk later. And a couple minutes later, boom, 12 text messages in, telling me where their shops are, how they charge fees etc. 12 TEXT MESSAGES! I do pay per text and started to freak out about him sending more text messages. I immediately told him that never text me. Just call. He said no problem. This was in February. We talked later when he called me a second time and I was not happy about the whole texting marketing so I told him that I already got my florist. And then 3 months later, which is today, I just got another 10 text messages. The text is almost the same as last time! He is just bombing people's phone with text messages as he probably think this is a smart way of getting people's attention! Yes, you got my attention. I had to block him from contact list, and I am specifically googling for this shop and warn everyone, this is a ridiculous shop and the owner has no idea what is customer services. I just used Metro for my 6/27/14 wedding, at Brunos on the Blvd, I must say I was afraid at first, I wasn't too sure how everything would turn out, but they worked with me on my budget, and the day of my wedding I was EXTREMELY nervous of how my arrangement would come out, but they were beyond what I expected, they turned out to be so beautiful, EVERYONE was raving about them, the way Alex decorated my cake was amazing, my bouquet Lord I think I cried when I saw it. We had our wedding recently. In the beginning we had Alex, but then he left without telling us. Geovanni. on March 11th, my mother passed away. She was going to give me away. I explained this to Giovanni and I told him to take off the corsage from our list. He said he did. They called me the day before the wedding to confirm that the flowers were going to be delivered. One the day of the wedding came the flowers were beautiful, but missing a bouquet from my bridesmaids and there was a corsage there. I specifically told him no corsage and they mixed that up with one missing bouquet. I won't be using you again. That really upset me. read more

We were also a bit nervous about the other Yelp reviews like a few others that posted earlier, I can't comment on their experience, but ours came out phenomenally. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous, our centerpieces were so beautiful, the extra cake decorations were a beautiful touch, our bridal couple table was magnificent. I got married in October of last year and Giovanni and the staff were amazing to work with. They made our wedding dream decorations a reality. We wanted simple but elegant and that's exactly what they did. They worked with our budget and were not pushy at all. There were issues with the rentals (different company) getting to our venue on schedule and the Metro Floral crew ended up having to stick around longer than anticipated and even helped to set up the decorations up even though we had talked about my wedding coordinator setting it up.
