Though Hermosa is a predominantly Latino neighborhood, English is the dominant language amongst the white & blue collar mix here, and this is your place to go if your Spanish isn't ready for La Posada across the street. So that's what they do here, they provide a social setting, they show sports on the television, and they serve beer. Friends for the friendless, drunkenness to the sober. On a Sunday afternoon, the place was practically empty but all the TVs were available for whatever we wanted to watch. Steve, the owner, doesn't mind if you bring in outside food to eat (since they don't serve food) so we went across the street to our favorite burrito place and brought food back for the game. Drinks were cheap and everyone was really friendly. The owner, Steve, talked to us a few times and invited us back since he knew we lived close by. Every time I've come in since Steve recognizes me and stops and chats with me, which I appreciate. I love Uncle Mike's as a local Hermosa bar and will keep coming here as long as I'm in the neighborhood.
