We have used Plumber Dave with B&W for years (I bliebe over 15 years now) and there is no other plumber like Dave. He's helped us through the years with a frozen pipe that leaked into our basement, toilet replacements/repairs, disposals and other various items. Each time, prices were fair and he explained the repairs he made. He's prompt, super knowledgeable and you can rest assure, the job will be done properly. We won't use anyone else but him. read more

We hired this company to come and remove our water heater so that speedy heat and air could put in new hvac system. Chris removed and reinstalled our water heater and flue vent for $750.The hvac guy noticed very hot air coming from vent hood on water heater and told chris.Chris proceeded to tell us we must have something blocking our vent on the roof.We called roofers and they informed us they cannot touch those vents only licensed plumber or hvac.We then called B&W back and they sent out a HVAC tech Blake the next day.He got on the roof and informed me nothing was blocking vent.He then said we had a negative air pressure flow in the closet and that was causing the backdraft. He said he can install a vent. I had googled it the night before and I suggested the positioning of the flu pipe could be the issue.He then unscrewed the pipe turned it and wa la no more backdraft. This should have been knowledge that chris knew when reinstalling our water heater and flue pipe. It also should have been knowledge that Blake had with 20 yrs.experience. He then charged me $211 service fee and $229 for a repair. I asked him what was I paying for above the service charge and his reply was that he's got 20 yrs experience and he's expensive.He didnt solve the issue I suggested the fix before he installed a useless vent that would cost me $1000. He was here for about 30 minutes and all he did was get on the roof to look in vent then unscrewed flue pipe turned it a notch and screwed it back in. Our invoice said he repaired it.Thats not the true definition of a repair.We called the office manager chuck to explain our experience.He then went and talked to chris and called us back with a huge lie that he didnt fix it because he would have had to extend the pipe and upcharge.He didnt tell us any of that. The manager made excuses for both his technicians but he did wave half the $430.We really shouldn't have paid anything if Chris knew his plumbing.Then chuck tells us our credit card had been declined which was another lie.The $750 went thru when chris charged us on the same card.Blake obviously didnt process the payment or did incorrectly.We didnt get any notifications about a decline and we have $10k credit line available on that card.I wouldn't use these people if they were the last hvac /plumbers left on earth.I can forgive mistakes and I understand trouble shooting but when people are dishonest ,refuse to take accountability and rip people off then no good work that they might be doing is recognized.I did have Max here to clear kitchen faucet after water heater was reinstalled and he was professional,did quality work and didn't charge me becoz chris should have made sure lines were clear before he left.Don't let these people BS you,go with a company that has some integrity. I give them a negative star for being complete. This was my wife's experience with this company. To make this experience worse Blake offered to waive all fess if my wife would sign up an become a member for 425.00 a year. My wife ask Blake what do we get from a membership he said they come out twice a year and service our ac and furnace. My HVAC company will come out and service the equipment for 80.00 a visit. So 160.00 a year versus 425.00. You make your own choice. In my opinion he was just ripping us off. I'm a senior citizen and will post this on AARP as well. A wise man once said all home owners need two things, an honest and knowledgeable HVAC company and a honest an knowledgeable plumber. Well I found an honest HVAC company in Speedy heating and air llc, but I'm still f looking for a honest and knowledgeable plumber. Just my opinion, you be the judge. read more

Where do I start? We hired B&W to remove our gas water heater so our HVAC Speedy heat and air could put in a new HVAC system.Chris from B&W removed then reinstalled our hot water heater and flue vent for $750.The HVAC guy from speedy noticed hot air coming from vent hood on water heater and he told Chris the plumber from B&W Chris told us we have a backdraft and something must be blocking the vent on roof and we needed to call roofer.We called our roofer and he said no we aren't licensed to do anything to hvac/gas water heater vent. We then called B&W back and they sent Blake a HVAC tech out the next day.He got on the roof and looked in vent pipe and told me nothing was blocking it.He then told me we had a negative air flow pressure in the closet and he could install a new vent in the wall of the closet.(Our door to closet is vented from top to bottom).I had googled this backdraft issue the night before and I suggested to Blake that it could be something as simple as the positioning of the flue vent pipe.He then unscrewed the pipe turned it a notch and viola no more backdraft. He then proceeded to charge me $430,when I asked him what I was being charged for above the $211 service fee he said he has 20yrs experience and he's expensive. He was only here for 30 minutes got on roof looked in vent then unscrewed vent pipe turned it a notch and screwed it back in.He didn't identify the problem, I suggested it for him before he installed a useless vent costing me $1000. We called the office manager Chuck to explain our experience with 2 of his techs and he said let me talk to chris the plumber and I'll get back with you.He calls us back with a huge lie, Chris told him he didn't fix the flue pipe because he would have had to extend it and upcharge us. He never told us any of that when he was here.He couldn't even identify the backdraft, our HVAC from Speedy' pointed it out. Chris didnt have a solution nor did he even try, Chuck kept making excuses for his techs.Then chuck offers to waive half of the $430 when we shouldn't have even had to have Blake come here and be charged $430 if Chris knew his plumbing.Then Chuck tells us our card was declined and we needed to repay the bill.Our card was not declined,Blake didnt process it or did so incorrectly.We never got any notification of a decline and we used the same card to pay Chris and it went thru.We have a $10k available credit line on that card.I wouldnt trust these ppl because they dont know how to identify even the simplest issues, then lie about their mistakes and inability then they rip people off all while boasting about their experience. I have no experience and googled the fix and tipped him off before I was charged even more $$ I can forgive ,mistakes and I understand troubleshooting but I don't tolerate dishonesty. I don't even mind paying high prices but if I dont get quality workmanship,honesty and respect why am I paying these high prices? I give B&W a negative across the board for not knowing their craft and being complete liars. read more

After months of my wired lights flashing and dimming, I contacted B & W because they had done some plumbing work in my condo a few months ago. (See my 9/12/24 review). The electrician (Eric) came on time, checked everything he could for 2.5 hours and not one light flashed or dimmed except for one shortly before he was ready to leave. He determined it was a faulty dimmer switch and replaced it. He left and not 10 mins later, the flashing and dimming began again! Eric left his cell number so my son and I recorded the lights and sent videos to him. Two days later, Eric and Logan Buckmaster arrived. As a team, they worked in the breaker box (and yes lights were acting up that day), and eventually discovered much damage in my old breaker box. They showed me and took several pictures. The following week, Logan came back and installed a new electrical panel. Between Logan, his manager Jeremiah who followed up with me twice, and Eric who I learned has since been promoted at another company, I am extremely pleased with every aspect of the work that went into this project. No one wants to have to fork out the amount of money it costs to replace something like this, but it had to be done. They stuck to their estimate even though I know they did extra things and could have charged me more but didn't. All super nice, friendly guys who made this empty nest mom comfortable having strangers in her house. read more

Mesha and Crystal are always patient and helpful. Dave McDonough fixed a kitchen sink leak and replaced a kitchen faucet, sink bowl and garbage disposal. He did great work! Dontril Williams replaced a water heater for me and fixed a challenging slab leak in a tight space. He was easy to work with, communicative and went above and beyond for us. We had an outdoor faucet replaced last year. They had to connect it in the crawlspace. Where they connected sprung a major leak not visible unless you get in the crawlspace. I got my first hint of the leak with a $1200 water bill and a $1800 sewer bill. where do I start...... we are told by Citizens gas that we have a leak. they shut off our gas while it's 20 degrees out. They said to get a gas repair service out to find the leak, we call B&W. The guy is unhappy but agrees to come out. Well he gets here and makes us sign that the cost is $543 and he will do a complete leak check over a few hours. We sign the agreement, he then proceeds to tell us we have a leak outside by the Citizens meter and there is nothing he can do (total time invested so far, 10 minutes) then proceeds to charge us the full $543 and refused to stay 30 minutes until Citizens got here so he could do the actual inside leak test. This was a total ripoff and I will be contacting the owner of B&W. I am in disbelief that anyone would charge us this kind of money for 10 minutes of work. My water heater sprung a leak and after receiving what seemed like a very high quote from another company my FIL recommended B&W, who had replaced my sister in laws water heater a few months prior. I was able to get an appointment right away, Randy was friendly and professional, the work was done promptly and at a reasonable price. I've used B&W Plumbing over 20 years. They are professinal and fix the problem the first time. They also must be one of the highest priced plumbing contractors in the city. I own several rentals and want a company that will set their own appointments with the tenant, call me before doing any extensive (expensive) work, and above all bill me. I don't want to have to meet the plumber at the property to pay him. B&W satisfied all this. I realize everything has gone up, but since B&W went to "book pricing" it seems like more and more, I'm getting the shaft. Example: I needed a new mixing valve on a shower. I tore the wall open and supplied the valve. Everything was exposed and right in front of the plumber. All he had to do was cut the old valve out and solder the new one in. The "book" said $595.00! I called the office and screamed like a mashed monkey. Because I am a longtime customer the manager put the guy on hourly rate. Wound up $250 for less than an hours work. Example: In a pinch I needed some furnace work, it was Sunday and my regular guy had just passed away. Though I'd never used B&W for heating and cooling that is part of their trade so I sent them out, and told the guy to check the thermocouple. (The pilot light wouldn't stay lit.) He told me over the phone since I was a regular customer they wouldn't charge overtime for sunday work. Hooray! Except when the bill came it was $295 for replacing the theromocouple, a ten dollar part! Again I complained and they took 10% off. But what the hey? I'm beginning to think B&W is just too expensive for my business. read more

Called to have a pluged drain repaired yesterday. Service tech showed up today as scheduled, pulled in the drive and said that there were trees in the yard so he was afraid to work on the problem. Came on Tuesday, determined I was out of Frion as I suspected. Needed me to turn the AC off to thaw it out for recharging at a later date. Called me the next day. Theyre only unavailable apptmt was Friday at 12. Then they called me on Thursday to change it to 4 oclock on Friday. Then called me at 3:30 on Friday to tell me they'd be here Tuesday. WHAT IS GOING ON ITS LIKE SAUDI ARABIA IN MY HOUSE! They told me this is what my landlord told them, but I called my landlord and they just flat out lied about that. He called them and now they are telling me they will be here "sometime" on Saturday... or is it Tuesday or Thursday or next September. There are 10,000 other AC repair people to call. Called B&W because of a drain clogged in the basement. Friendly person on the phone, inform me about what it would cost for the Tech to come and do a diagnostic ($118). if service is more they would take off the $118. Plumber Dave called me 15 mn before coming to let me know he was on is way. I explain to him the issue. He took his tools and rags to protect the floor. He was very knowledgeable, 30 years experience. Plumber Dave was very friendly and did a great job. the cost was $221, it could sounds expensive compare with what other say when you call but when they arrive on site they add more fees because of "non conventional" structure. once again, you pay for what you want. I will call them again next time I will have another issue. read more

These guys did a great job for me after a total disaster with Service Experts (see my review for info). Besides replacing the furnace and coordinating with the tenant directly, they happened upon problems with the venting and addressed this issue as well, which btw was the main reason that the prior furnace was in such poor condition (blocked flow and backdrip of condensation which rusted everything out and would have prematurely degraded the new furnace). Yes, there may be cheaper and in fact the bid from Service Experts was a bit less. However, the service and confidence they instilled coupled with the direct coordination with the tenant was the value-add and well worth a couple extra bucks. I'd recommend them. We called B&W to repair a leak below a bathroom sink. My maintenance team told the technician, Dontril, exactly where the leak was. He didn't even turn any water on to test himself and refused to make the repair until we called a leak detection company out. Our maintenance staff found the leak and again told him. When we called in none of this was communicated. I then receive an invoice for $156 and Doug the plumbing supervisor refused to discount the invoice. Bad business and we will never call them again, if work is needed. I typically do not give bad reviews because there are always three sides to a situation, but these are the facts and ridiculous they won't work on the trip charge invoice when we told the tech exactly where it was. They need to communicate this information better when a service is called in. read more

Responded quickly when we had a leaky gas line... Right after a huge rain storm and other plumbers were saying it would be three days before they could even look at it! Obviously they didn't understand we can't go without hot water for three days! B&W came out the next day in the window they promised and made the repairs in about 3 hours. If you are certain you need a new water heater than by all means, call B and W. Service is quick and responsive. However, if you would like someone to actually diagnose and or repair than do yourself a favor and call someone else. I was sold a heater that performs at a lower level than my old one. I may or may not have needed it. When I expressed concern the recommendation was to just turn it up.... To the same setting my old heater was at. So I paid 1,400 for a few days of inconvenience and a water heater I probably didn't need that operates the same or worse than the one they replaced. read more

Called B&W to look at a hot water heater. Repairman didn't even evaluate the unit. Just wanted to see how much he could charge me. Quoted me $1,200.00 plus $250.00 to move a washer next to it! Mixed review. Our heater stopped working on Thursday night, so Friday after work, we called B and W to see if we could get a technician to help. Jason called us back right away and suggested we check the status of our filter. We hadn't changed it, and it seemed like it was going to be a quick fix. He did this all over the phone, helping us to avoid paying or this service. Really nice guy. Unfortunately, the heat did not come back, so Saturday we called him again and this time he came out. We had our blower on Auto, which was wearing away at our motor, but Jason suggested we just get a new capacitor, which would prevent us from having to buy a new motor just yet. Again, it seemed like this was going to work. Sunday morning, still no heat, so we decided that it was finally time to replace the motor. Jason called us from the crawl space at another job, but made sure we would be taken care of. When Dan arrived he let us know that Sunday meant OVERTIME and instead of having to pay $580 for a new motor, we would have to pay $800!! We asked if there was anything we could do....after this three day process and he said he could take off 5%. So, in summary, Jason did what he could do to save us money and talked us through something that we knew nothing about, but in the end we spent 3 days without heat and paid almost $1000 for something that would have cost $580 if it had been done on Friday instead. AVOID SUNDAYS. They don't tell you about overtime until they arrive. read more
