I've been getting my hair cut at B Beautiful for years. This is only my second time being there since Covid. But there was a woman getting her hair washed with no mask. I felt really badly for the lady washing her hair and that nobody said anything to this woman to put on a mask. Thankfully one of the hairdressers finally said "can you please put on a mask?" She did so reluctantly. I hope, going forward, the owner will make sure , during this crisis time in our life with a lot of older people visiting her shop who are at in the high risk population, such as myself, to insist and enforce everyone wearing a mask and therefore staying safe. read more

I have been going to Connie for 20+ years. The nice part of Connie's new location is the high level of service and amenities. I have been very impressed with the whole experience. The support staff washing my hair to the full refreshment bar, always available during my appointment. They take care of their clients. I went to the salon yesterday and I thought I was just upset at the moment and would calm down about my experience if I give it a little time, but boy was I wrong. I am furious. The salon itself is very nice and clean, and they have snacks and tea/coffee for you to enjoy. And Lupe who washed my hair was absolutely amazing, so attentive and made me feel better even when I was visibly upset. She's great!! I had Michael as my stylist, and when I called in to make my appointment I specifically said I wanted someone who is good with color as my hair is a bit complicated and thick. Which should tell the hair dresser that it will take longer time than fine hair .. Michael started off coloring my hair, I just wanted to match my roots which were dark blonde. He kept hurrying through the entire process and at the time it seemed to me that my hair was not saturated enough with the color. Turns out my thoughts were correct .. by the time my hair was washed and dried I could see big streaks of bleach blonde still in my hair, and a zebra like design in another part of my hair. Now if a hair dresser would just agree and say, "Oh yes, let's just do another process to even it out." Fine no problem, I am not fussy, I've been getting my hair done for years and am aware that it doesn't always come out the way you want it to the first time. What made me angry is that he started arguing with me. He tried to say that it's just my natural hair coming through, and that it gives it a bit of dimension .. BULLSHIT. He messed up and didn't want to admit it. DONT EVER ARGUE WITH A CUSTOMER. Michael needs to get off his high horse, he walks around like he is all that and kept saying how he has over 36 years of experience and he does magic on hair. I don't care what he does, you never argue with a customer, especially one who tips you. Now my hair is about 2 shades darker than I originally wanted and I will have to go to another salon to get it fixed, which is what I was initially trying to stay away from. I just wanted to get my hair back to my natural hair color and took months to let my outgrowth show. Even the use of my Groupon did not make me feel better, it was way more than I thought he deserved. read more

She is an excellent listener, and gave me the color and highlights I was looking for. She is also a delightful person, who is very detail oriented and friendly and caring. I have recommended friends to her, and they are now regulars of hers. So believe it if she says her book is full! (However, I have no trouble scheduling appointments with her.) A few months ago I saw Mr. Agostino for my hairstyling appointment. While he was doing his job, he started making very explicit remarks addressed to me. I had to let him now that I found his behavior offensive since his comments were of sexual nature. He ignored my request to stop and continued with his behavior. I HAVE NO WORDS FOR WHAT JUST OCCURRED WITH MARTHA THE COLORIST AT B BEAUTIFUL. The person who has been cutting my hair for close to 20 years and who is currently located at B BEAUTIFUL recommended MARTHA for color. He introduced me to her and I asked how she would process my hair and do my color. I believe any new client would ask that. After speaking to her I scheduled an appointment which she ended up needing to cancel to go to a doctor appointment. No big deal. I asked to see when she could get me in and out wasn't for another 3 weeks. Ok, fine. I scheduled the appt. I called the salon today to speak with the person who cuts my hair except the receptionist puts me on hold and the next thing I know Martha is on the phone telling me I should go back to the place I originally went because she is not comfortable doing my hair because I asked her questions how she would color it. Then when I told her I had no hesitation about using her, she switched her story to she didn't feel comfortable doing someone else's client. Mind you, HE recommended her. When I expressed that to her she said she was busy and literally hung up on me!!! For someone who has been in the business 25 years, you'd think she's have better manners than that. Plus, you'd think the receptionist would have waited to see why I was calling before putting this very rude Colorist on the phone. FOR THE RECORD, MARTHA STATED SHE HAS TOO MANY CLIENTS AS IT IS AND DOES NOT NEED NEW CLIENTS! I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO RUDELY BY ANY PROFESSIONAL IN THIS INDUSTRY EVER!!! UPDATE: Martha also told me she had shared her concerns with my stylist who recommended her for color.... GUESS WHAT?! A TOTAL LIE! - My stylist didn't know about any of her "concerns or issues" with doing my hair. You don't want me as a client? That's your choice but don't lie to me about the reason and tell me 2 weeks before my appointment because I happened to call the shop. Be a professional. Pick up the phone, call me and tell me the truth. GOOD THING HER CLIENT ROSTER IS FULL. (Well, who knows, that could be a lie too.) read more

My first time to B Beautiful. Needed a cut and highlight, they were having a promotion, my old stylist had moved. My stylist was Evelyn, and she was excellent. Friendly, easy to talk to, very professional. The cut she gave me was perfect for my curly hair (it passed the "can I do this at home" test) and my highlights are really nice. My hair can come up sort of red-ish sometimes, but these highlights are the perfect blonde - not red at all. I liked the feel of the salon. Open but not noisy, tastefully decorated, easy to move around. Also they have a refreshment bar that's a nice touch. Makes you feel welcome. read more

Had a we deal so thought I would save a little and take my daughter to get her hair straightened for her best friend's bat mitzvah. Michael was her stylist and by the looks of his hair that should have been my first red flag He was nice enough though. 2 1/4 hours later my daughter was finished and her beautiful curly hair not so straight was completely fried. I've never seen anything like it Usually she is done in a half hour with her hair looking silky smooth and lasting for 2-3 days Had to come home and still take a flat iron to her hair to try and actually get it straight It was a disaster. I called to complain although they knew and they said manager not in and she would call me back. Today it is 4 days later and I still wait It gets better !! She was supposed to have makeup done a half hour after her 2 pm appt but Michael took so long that Lauren could not wait and had to leave I asked to just put eye shadow on and she did , the kicker !!! She charged me full price, are you kidding me?? It was eye shadow !! My daughter cried for the next three hours and the 25,00 eye make up was gone Never never will I or should anyone step foot in that place if they care about their outcome read more

I purchased a Groupon for a haircut with Michael. Arrived at salon about 15 minutes early. Very nice receptionist offered coffee and had me sit down in waiting area. About 10 minutes beyond the appointment time, Michael had not shown up. I asked to use the restroom and the receptionist said she would give him a call. After 15 minutes past the appointment time, I got my coat. I told the receptionist that I wasn't going to wait any longer as it was already 15 minutes past. She was apologetic and asked if I wanted to rebook. I thanked her, said no, and said I'd be requesting a refund on my Groupon. It seems like a nice salon and there were several people already getting their hair and nails done. However, after this experience, I will not be coming back. read more

It is very hard for a woman to find a good hair stylist and stay with them. After many years of being unhappy jumping from stylist to stylist for many years, I finally found my perfect fit. Pedro, who work's at Be Beautiful in Highland Park, was one of three names that came up after I asked women who they would recommend., about 6 years ago. I figured I would try all 3 and then make up my mind. I started and I ended with Pedro who is not only a fabulous stylist, he is also great at coloring and highlighting. I would say that we would call him "Old School" because you start and stop with just him. I don't care for the trendy places where they pair you with a hair cutter and then you also have to deal with a "color specialist" PUHLEEZE! If someone is gifted at styling hair, they should also be able,to color it too! I never tried the other people because after Pedro, there was no way that they could equal his talent and also his great eye for color. I am "old School" too, in that if I find the "perfect fit" I stop looking! read more

B Beautiful is a Beautiful salon and has Beautiful and talented people working there. They have decades of experience. Jeri is a phenomenal front desk manager who runs the salon with skill. Lupe is an efficient and professional assistant. Connie is a legendary hairdresser. Michael is a true artist. I am going to address some of the complaints that are listed below. I am a cosmetology teacher and client of B Beautiful. Ladies-You cannot jump from hairstylist to hairstylist, throw on a box color here and there, let it grow for six months, and then walk in to a NEW stylist and expect fabulous results. Why? Trichology Lesson-Hair is made up of coiled, fibrous proteins. Each and every time you apply a chemical (color, bleach, perm, relaxer etc.) the protein fibers are exploded and broken down. Hair nearest your scalp is not yet completely hardened and the ends of the hair are MORE broken down due to daily use of blowdryers, irons and ponytails and braids. Hair in the center (the midshaft) may be harder than the outgrowth and ends, HOWEVER, if you have been having multiple chemical processes done to your hair, POROSITY will be uneven. SO WHAT? Chemistry Lesson-Haircolor works because of AMMONIA and HYDROGEN PEROXIDE. TOGETHER they create a HEAT reaction that EXPLODES the hairshaft and breaks down the fibers. If you jump from salon to salon, the BRAND of haircolor used and the LEVEL OF AMMONIA AND THE LEVEL OF PEROXIDE used can differ and can cause UNEVEN damage to your hair. That means that you have an UNEQUAL ability for the hair strand to ACCEPT THE COLOR MOLECULES from your NEW stylist. The hair with intact protein fibers (healthy hair) will accept the color molecules correctly, which bind together in the fiber proteins and then CANNOT ESCAPE. If you have HIGH POROSITY (unhealthy hair), the color molecules will go in quickly, AND QUICKLY ESCAPE during shampooing and daily use. What does that mean? YOUR HAIRCOLOR WILL BE UNEVEN. YOUR HIGHLIGHTS MAY OVERPROCESS OR BREAK OFF. YOU MAY HAVE DARKER AREAS OR UNEVEN COLOR OR HIGHLIGHTS. Why are so many women unhappy with their results? 1) They jump from salon to salon 2) They lie to the stylist about what they have done to their hair 3) They overprocess their hair 4) They have unrealistic expectations 5) They do not use professional products at home What should you do? 1) Always have a CONSULTATION prior to your first appointment. Do not just walk in and leave no time for discussion and contemplation. 2) Listen to what the stylist is telling you. 3) Face the fact that you have destroyed your hair. 4) Stay with a competent stylist and pay accordingly, do not be cheap 5) Understand that a stylist's "style" may be different than yours. Find one who fits your style. 6) Don't come in last minute or the day of an event. Stupidity. 7) Coupon/Groupon jumper, well, what can I say, you're a bunch of complainers..... 8) Don't say "well my girl used to" "well my guy always" YOU LEFT YOUR STYLIST FOR A COUPON AND NOW REGRET IT. THAT'S ON YOU. There are different stylists, estheticians and massage therapists. They have different training, different experience and different philosophies. Variety and diversity is what gives us OPTIONS. Find a professional who will give you what you are seeking. How do you do that? Recommendation and CONSULTATION. Find out what that person DOES! When you find that person, STAY WITH THEM. read more

I bought a Groupon with Eve. I used a 2 weeks ago, my roots are black again. Chunky spots around hair line, can't put hair back. The cut is horrible, it's clearly not an amateur cut. Wow... I just had the worst massage experience of my life here. The masseuse was actually very professional and did a very nice job. However, the front desk staff/management were rude, and loud -- the massage room is steps from the front desk and you can hear EVERY word they're saying -- very poor set-up. Anyhow, apparently they had double booked my time, and after I checked in, filled out paperwork and was halfway through my massage, someone knocks on the door not once, but TWICE to see when he'd be done as the "real" client was waiting! It completely ruined my experience and I could hear every word they were saying about the double booking, when was he going to be done, should we knock again...!! It was humiliating, rude and a completely ruined experience. I feel bad for the masseuse as he was good, but I will never go back to that place again. So much for a Groupon! Extremely unprofessional, inappropriate and unacceptable behavior for a salon/spa, in my opinion. read more

I had a groupon for a facial and a massage. This was my first time at B Beautiful. The facial was average..nothing special. I would say 50% of the time was spent under the steamer and the lady put very little effort into the "massage" portion. There was no "exfoliation" per se, and I really can't say whether or not my face/skin felt any better afterwards. The reason for my fair rating, however, is the massage; one of the worst I have ever had. Val was way to rough. I put down on the sheet I liked medium strength. If that was medium, I would hate to see what STRONG would be like. I told him several times he was hurting me and his response was that my muscles were tight and he needed to put pressure in order to loosen them. I think he is just a sadist. A day later I am taking motrin for the soreness and stiffness I am experiencing, which I should not be after a massage! I would never go back there nor would I recommend him. I was afraid at one point he was going to paralyze me when he was pressing on my vertebrae. read more
