My husband and I have been clients of B.E. Tek for years, and they have always done good work for us. But I have to tell you about the GREAT job they just did for me! I was one of "those" people who procrastinated in updating from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my laptop. Since I use it where I teach, I never could find a convenient time to drop it off and be without it. I finally had a couple of days I knew I wouldn't be at school, so I brought it in. I was prepared for a pretty high estimate, or for them to tell me they couldn't do it, but Chris was so positive and kind and reassured me that it wouldn't be as much as I thought, and they could, indeed, do it in the time allotted. So I brought it in on Thursday evening, and I know for a fact they had many other devices to work on, because other staff members attended to three other customers just in the time I was there. They said they'd do the best they could in getting in back to me as soon as possible (I didn't pay for express service), and they knew I needed it by Monday. Trent was very reassuring and kind and said they'd take good care of my laptop; they'd even run the basic diagnostics while they were working on it. They were as good as their word! They called the very next evening, at 5 pm on Friday, and I was able to pick it up and have been using it this weekend getting ready for Monday. July 3rd, 2020: I paid $1200 for a Dell Alienware 17 R4 laptop from B.E. Tek located at 7320 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO 64114 December 14th, 2020: the laptop ceased functioning and was taken back to B.E. Tek. I was later informed over the phone that the motherboard was faulty and that it was not worth the cost to replace it. Instead of offering me a refund or store credit, Chris told me the best that he could do for me would be to sell off the parts and give me 100% of the proceeds from the sale. He estimated this to be about $400. Dec. 21st , 2020: I heard nothing back from the B. E. Tek for a week, so I reached out to them via email regarding the progress of the sale of my laptop. Jan 05, 2021 12:51:12 PST: B. E. Tek listed the laptop on Ebay for $699.99 without RAM or hard drives January 7th: Having received no response to my email, I sent another email enquiring about the details of the sale of my laptop and enquiring when I could come get the data that was retrieved from the hard drive January 8th: I received a response telling me that the laptop was now listed for sale for 500 dollars and that I can come get my data at any time. I responded by asking for a link to the listing so that I might be able to see if it was in fact for sale for 500 dollars and know if/when it sold. No Response to that question was immediately given. January 9th: Another email was sent. No response until the 11th of January. January 11th: I received an email with a response to my question and a link to the listing of the laptop. A listing that I was told I would receive 100% of the proceeds from, but was told it was 400 dollars, then 500 dollars, and then , upon seeing the listing, I discovered that it is actually listed for $699.99. Additionally, the listing does not include the hard drives or the RAM, which I can only assume will also be sold. I dropped off my laptop last Saturday. It took 4 days for my laptop to get fixed. I was told the laptop will be fixed in 3-5 days or less. I received a call yesterday and was told through a voicemail that my laptop was ready to pick up, so I picked up the laptop today. The person I spoke to was courteous and friendly. I recently had a PC issue that I couldn't resolve myself. I drive by B E Tek all of the time and it's in our neighborhood, so it seemed a no-brainer to take my PC there. Drop off was quick and easy. I was able to explain my issue, get a service ticket written up, and an estimate on repair time, in about five minutes! Even though they said they were running about 7-10 days for repairs, I received a call only a few days after dropping my PC off. Although the tech was difficult to understand, it confirmed what I'd already suspected was wrong with my PC but couldn't fix and he spelled out what and how much it would take to fix it. I told them that, given the age of the PC, it wasn't worth spending the amount it would cost to repair. I picked up my PC later that afternoon and was pleased that having the tech run diagnostics on it only cost me $30. I was even more pleased when the employee (owner?) who checked me out carried the PC out to my car for me. If I had similar issues with future PCs, I would not hesitate to take it to B E Tek. They seem to be quick, courteous, and competent. Most of all, they don't charge an outrageous fee to have a technician check out your machine. If I had one piece of advice, it's to be careful exiting the parking lot. Wornall Road is a busy thoroughfare with many cars driving too fast and you really have to pull out far to make sure it's clear to exit the parking lot! read more

Although there was a blip between what I was told in dropping off my computer for repair (I would receive a phone call estimate and that the cost of diagnosing the problem would be waved if work done) and the fact that no one called me with the estimate and the work was done anyway, the man who assisted me (owner?) when I called and then picked up my computer a few days later was very kind and apologized for no phone call estimate, waved the diagnostic fee as initially stated, cleaned up the computer so it was nice and shiny, and even loaded it in the trunk for me. And the computer works great (and he told me with my ok they would recycle the old part) so I'm a happy camper. read more

I stopped by to see if I could get a diagnostic test run as my computer kept freezing up. I was told they could do that in a couple of days. I returned with the computer the following morning and was told by the guy with 2 black earrings that the guy I spoke with the day before didn't know what he was talking about and there were 20 computers ahead of me and it would be at least 10 days before they could look at my computer. I'm working from home and getting adapted to the changes, and yesterday, out of the blue, I was scheduled to work overtime, and couldn't even get on to log in. My laptop died. Wouldn't power on. So, I called my trusted computer guys that I have been using for the last 25 years, and they assured me they had everything I needed, and to bring my laptop over and they would set me up with another one and make sure I could still work from home. They transferred all my data to the laptop I bought, and now I have a newer laptop, a dock, wireless keyboard and mouse, headset and microphone, and two monitors. They stayed late after closing time to get the data transferred, since I work on Sunday and needed to be up and running, and Chris stepped me through setting up everything and how to connect it all when I got home. So I'm applauding BE Tech, and shouting out to anyone who needs honest, reliable and reasonably priced assistance with their computer needs, that these guys are amazing. The owner is Chris, and he's been on Wornall in Waldo for 26 years. I've been using them for 25 years, and we have bought all my computers from them since then. Never had a single problem with anything I have purchased there. Oh...also, my "new" equipment is reconditioned, and the cost was at least half of what I would have spent at Best Buy or another computer store. Absolutely amazing service and product. Took my iPhone in to look at the charging port. My phone would jump in and out of charge mode when charging. $30.00 diagnose fee to look at the phone. They looked at the phone while I waited. Literally 3 minutes later my phone was fixed. Said they cleaned out the charging port full of "pocket lint", which is a common problem apparently. Phone now will charge like new. Only issue for the five star review was the $30.00 cost for 3 minutes of work. Seemed the margin for labor was a bit steep for the work involved. Can't complain too much though, phone works and saved a trip to the Apple Store and its long lines. read more

Their website is horribly misleading. It says they work on both Nintendo Wii and Apple iPod. When I showed up with both, they told me they no longer worked on them and it was foolish to ask. They were very rude about it.
