Alex to book an appointment with James, but since he's so popular he was booked. I asked the receptionist who else in the salon was good with color and she suggested Elyse. The receptionist also let me know that Janes would be in the studio to consult as needed for the color. The salon is adorable, and as soon as I walked in I knew this was the place to get that perfect funky color -- all the stylists had the cutest cuts and color. Nothing tacky or obnoxious, but rather Pinterest worthy hair all over the salon. Elyse came over and was extremely friendly. We talked for almost 15 minutes about my expectations and she eagerly flipped through all my Pinterest posts that I brought along for reference. She kept asking me for more and more details about what I exactly wanted, which made me feel like she really cared about getting me the results I most wanted. Additionally, she knew more about the style of hair I wanted (apparently called Galaxy Hair Color) and the results were fantastic. James (the owner of the salon) came over several time throughout my bleach / cut / color process to offer tips and suggestions (and also just to chat and make sure I was happy with the experience). He was extremely friendly and answered many of my hair questions that I've had for years (like what brushes I should use on my hair type and other little things). The entire process on my hair (which is down to my mid back) took about 5 hours and the salon even closed before my hair was done -- but Elyse did t care and told me that she wasn't worried about what time it was and just wanted to get my hair right, which she did. The results were amazing and I only wish I could back to Overland Park to get my hair done more often! Hand down, the most relaxed and friendly salon I have ever been in and the best work to be done on my hair outside of Los Angles and Las Vegas -- really amazing team with great energy. Whereas the previous spot was sleek looking and modern, the rest of the staff seemed disconnected and somewhat cold. Studio One Salon is located in a revamped house in the West Plaza. You enter to a large, welcoming waiting area where you can have coffee or water and sit comfortably while waiting for your appointment. All the stylists have individual areas and stations are spread over two floors. Shane's is on the main level in the back of the house. All of the areas are personalized to the user, which adds character. As always, I got a great haircut from Shane and superb service. Everyone I've seen leave here has looked amazing, so I'm thinking the whole staff is great. Check it out!
