Sorry but going against the grain here. Both food and service here is marginal for sure. My opinion a 2 1/2 star dining experience at best, so I'm being kind rounding up for them. My wife asked for a dish they advertise on the menu but was told they could not make it because they could not make steamed rice. Have you ever been to an Asian restaurant that did not have steamed rice? Not me either! The salad and a fried rice dish that we split were both mediocre. Walking past the kitchen one could not help but notice the cook was not Asian nor was the lead food server. The waitress who was seemed rather clueless. Then looking at the menu, holly cow, main courses all $25.95 - way overpriced. Want a Thai iced tea, then pony up $5. How about a simple custard dessert for $12.50? On the plus side the only positive was the ambience, nice space. But, unfortunately that will not carry them very far. If they are to survive let alone thrive in Red Bank, they better take a serious look at their overall business model starting with their over the top pricing. Bottom Line _ they do have the potential but it remains to be seen just what they do with it...

One of the best pad thai dishes I've ever had. It was a large portion with the right amount of every ingredient. The flavor was outstanding, I wanted more and more. The spring rolls were tasty as well. Get all of these and another order to go home. The place was sparkling clean inside as I made my way to their restroom. There's nearby public parking and the staff work masks and gloves.

Overall: It's a lovely place, and I would recommend it. We came here for dinner and the place is beautiful and so clean. There were not many people dining. The fried spring rolls were okay. Ordered Pad See Ew and my partner ordered Pad Thai. Both were so so good! They were probably the best versions of the dishes we've had. Also got Thai tea, and it was superb. The presentation on everything was stunning.

The staff was nice and food was great. We did outdoor seating because of COVID. Best pad thai I've had in a long time!

The food and service were fantastic! We ordered a serving of fresh rolls and steamed shrimp rolls. They were so good we got a second round! For the mains we ordered green curry, shrimp pad Thai, massamam curry, cashew and ginger shrimp and Pad-de-ew. All were made with fresh ingredients and the presentation was lovely. The portions were hearty as well.

Inconsistent hours and they rarely answer the phone, so it's impossible to order take out. Don't waste your time.

The food: we started off with spring rolls, very tasty. I then had the Tom Ka Kung soup, what a great surprise. Just the right sweetness from the coconut milk and just the right amount of heat, not too spicy. Then the Panang Lamb arrived. OMG this was an amazing dish. The flavors were amazing. I got it with medium heat and it was perfect. Just the right amount to where you feel it but you want more. The lamb was cooked wonderfully and the vegetables had the right amount of tenderness. Unfortunately there wasn't any room left for dessert. I was surprised how empty it was, but all that meant was we had great service. Maybe the secret isn't out on this place. I will definitely add this to my list when I travel out here again (monthly). Give it a shot, I'm hoping you will be as surprised as I was. I had to give a shout out cause it was really good.

We showed up hoping to snag bar seats, but it was busy and honestly a little warm for my liking. I know, I know, after the winter we've had, I have absolutely no right to complain. Either way, we ended up in an outside room with all the windows open to the patio and it was genuinely perfect. Our server Julie was fantastic. Attentive in all the right ways, including the kind of attentive where she noticed us glancing around and came over to check on us. We weren't actually looking for anything; we were just scoping out the space. Still, I appreciated the hustle. My partner ordered a gin martini, extra dirty; I went with a prosecco. Both came out cold and fast. We ordered edamame, lotus buns, the pear and crispy goat cheese salad, and the aburi roll. The edamame were solid. Nice pop of lime, though I could have used a heavier hand with the salt. The lotus buns were a revelation. Two pillowy bao buns, each stuffed with a generous slab of slow roasted pork belly glazed in hoisin, with a pickled cucumber tucked in alongside it. I'd never had anything quite like them, and the balance was what got me: the brine and snap of the pickle cutting right through the sweetness of that glaze. Really well thought out. The aburi roll was tasty; nothing jumped out as the star moment, but everything played nicely together and it went down easy. And then there was the salad. Oh, the salad. I could eat that salad every single day of the week. Crispy fried goat cheese medallions on a salad is basically a guaranteed order for me, so that's what reeled me in initially. But once I actually started eating it, I forgot all about the goat cheese. Mixed greens, thin pear slices, halved grapes, spiced pecan halves, all dressed in a honey mustard vinaigrette that was genuinely outstanding. I've already started thinking about how to recreate it at home, which is the highest compliment I can give a salad. Teak delivered across the board. Don't let the rooftop reviews scare you off from the restaurant itself.

THE FOOD * Chef's Sashimi Bowl: Bright and tasty with slices of tuna, yellowtail, and salmon. It came professionally plated with vegetable garnishes and a few dried sweet potato and garlic chips for texture. * Oysters & Caviar: The ice-cold oysters topped with black caviar were incredibly fresh. The yuzu/ponzu sauce and sliced green onions added great flavor. Served at the perfect temperature. * Kale Caesar Salad: The surprise here was the spicy breadcrumbs, which made the dish when their spice and crunch came in alongside the creamy dressing and kale. * Tip: I would order the dressing on the side next time, and avoid pairing this with the French Onion Soup Dumplings (too many creamy/heavy components for one meal). * French Onion Dumplings: An okay dish with nice gooey cheese, but a fairly flat overall flavor profile. * Roasted Salmon: Served with a tasty, crisp crust, but it was a bit dry on the inside. It came with nice stir-fried vegetables and slightly underdone coconut rice. THE WINE * A nice selection of wines by the glass. We tried a spread of Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux, and Pinot Noir. THE SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE * Special thanks to Rigo (the sushi chef). He served up amazing sashimi and clearly draws on his 20+ years of experience at TEAK. He was incredibly personable, clearly enjoys his craft, and his presentation was excellent! * Thank you to Olivia, a new bartender upstairs, for her attentive and professional service! Wishing you the best in picking up those great line dance routines. IMPORTANT LOGISTICS Ordering: Note that you must order all your dishes at one time. Since moving to upstate NY four years ago, I only get to Good Karma when visiting family in NJ. During our latest trip we stopped at Good Karma to pick-up dinner on the way to my parent's house. We ordered the Love Bowl, Gado Gado Salad, and the Live Nachos. Issues: 1) The Gado Gada salad was a big miss. It's supposed to include lettuce, tofu, cabbage, carrots, roasted peanuts, and a sesame seed mix. There was ZERO sesame seed mix and literally ONE roasted peanut. We had asked the tofu be swapped for beans, which did happen, but basically all my wife got was a salad with lettuce and beans. 2) Live Nachos: what a HUGE disappointment. I've had these a number of times in the past and was really looking forward to these. One of my favorite parts has always been the creamy cashew sour cream. THIS TIME, there was one small dollop of the cashew cream. We basically paid $15 for a box of seasoned lettuce with 8 nacho chips -- not nearly enough chips to even eat with our seasoned lettuce. The Love Bowl, fortunately, was on par with my past experiences. However, the experience still left me questioning whether it's worth returning to Good Karma next time.

The server was extremely friendly, truly a standout, warm, attentive, and just wonderful throughout our visit. There was a slightly awkward moment at the entrance: a sign told us to wait to be seated, but no one was there to greet us. Instead, a man behind the bar called out from across the room to ask how many were in our party, then simply told us to "sit anywhere." It wasn't a big deal, but it felt a little off-putting and impersonal. As for the food: The wonton soup had good flavor but was just warm which was disappointing on a freezing cold day when a hot bowl of soup would have hit the spot. The pork bun and dumplings were delicious. The tea was also very good, and the overall service was prompt and efficient. It's a solid place with a friendly atmosphere and tasty dishes. Despite the small oddities, I'd say it's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
