It was pretty empty and we were seated right away. I like the loud and bright decor. The water was not very good. Food was delicious, service was excellent and attentive and the ambiance was really nice. I enjoyed the decor very much. I've never been to a Thai restaurant decorated the way this one was. My friend picked this place on our way back home from the beach. They were very patient with us as we tried to figure out what was going on with my friends credit card getting declined (it was a due to a fraud alert because it was a purchase made in a new area). My friend finally sorted out the situation but they ended up just discounting us the bill, even though he insisted he was now able to pay the remainder of the bill, so that was very kind of them. Our friend found this place on Yelp. The place has very authentic and traditional interiors. Staff was professional. Pros- the good was really good! We had the curry puffs, Tom yum (without the coconut milk), vegetarian noodles, pad thai with vegetables and tofu - all were delicious, fresh and flavorful. The portions were hearty as well. Cons - the place is not kid friendly, our friends had a baby, they did not have high chairs and did not allow strollers in, so was uncomfortable. The other con is price, was steep for the place, felt expensive. Overall good experience but given the price, would need to think twice to consider revisiting. read more

Super creamy and delicious. Our entree was a whole tamarind fish. It was fried with perfection with the most gratifying sauce. I love a good thai place that can cook a fish. This place is definitely authentic and is a must go to spot. They also offer vegan options with seitan. We went on a sunday and it was pretty busy around lunch time. The waitress had forgotten our tea but overall service was good. When paying for our bill, they didnt accept 4 credit cards to split the bill and would only take 2. I'm leaving 3 stars for a few reasons. I think this place can be a 4 star option. We ordered a Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken and a Pad-Se-Ew with Chicken for takeout on Valentine's Day. The food was ready on time when we arrived but $38??? The portion sizes were small for $19 per item, just slightly bigger than an $8-10 Chinese Takeout container. I know it's Red Bank but that was off putting right from the start. I had the Pineapple Fried Rice before and it was OUTSTANDING, this time I'd say it was average with very few pieces of pineapple and chicken. A plate of rice (not even pork fried with little chunks of pork) for $19 is just borderline absurd. Without the pineapple it's just fried rice. If you're going to call it Pineapple Fried Rice you should be able to have more than 5-6 bites with a piece of pineapple in it. The Pad-Se-Ew was okay, I've definitely had better. Again, a small portion that just didn't hit the spot. The "chicken" was like shredded teeny tiny little pieces, I honestly didn't even taste it anytime I ate it. To call it chicken was also borderline absurd because there might have been 1-2oz in the dish. The Chinese Broccoli is always one of my favorites but this dish also had some carrots and even a piece of what I think might have been cabbage? Just weird and a filler in an already small dish. Idk if it was because it was Valentine's Day but you can easily get either of these dishes for $10-12 at most casual Thai places. Spending $19 per is just not something I'll be doing very often especially for low quality. Not sure if I'll come back or try somewhere different next time. read more

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how festive and brightly colored the space is. My jaw dropped when I saw how expensive the dishes are here. For example, they charge $16.95 for fried rice, $18.95 for pad thai, and $25.95 for all of their chef specials. Do you just want a basic red curry with shrimp? That'll cost you $24.95 I could go on and on. It's total lunacy. Having lived in both Middlesex and Somerset counties, I've been spoiled by a multitude of cheap and delicious Thai joints. I guess Muang Thai needs to charge more to afford their absurdly expensive Red Bank rent, and I assume that they're easily getting away with it, as there aren't many Thai options in the area. The lunch special, however, wasn't a bad deal, but they only run it during the week, so you're basically never going to be able to get it. For $10.95 you get a salad and a main. There are many different mains to choose from, which is nice. Their lunch portion must be significantly smaller than their dinner portion, as I easily devoured my red curry with beef. It was pretty good. It was a little too salty and the peppers were undercooked. I tried to substitute brown rice for white, but they wanted to charge me $3 to do that (more robbery), so I stuck with the white. My friend liked her pad Thai, and her portion was larger than mine. I'd come back for lunch, but I wouldn't pay those prices for dinner. read more

This is a charming place that I'll certainly go back to. I think the best thing here is the wonderful attention and care we get. The hostess and waitress is the sweetest person I've experienced at a restaurant. I felt like I was at my aunts house. The food was good. My favorite was the soup. I did not like the fired chicken dumplings, while very fresh, they didn't have much to have me go for another round. My all time favorite dish is the pad kee maw, the wide rice noodles with basil was salty. I'm not sure I'll get that because next time I'm gonna get the jumbo tom kha gai soup as that was excellent. I usually go to Kunya Siam in Atlantic Highlands for authentic Thai food, but I wanted to try Muang Thai because they had a huge menu. They have so many dishes here that Kunya Siam doesn't have on their menu. We ordered the papaya salad to start which was very good! It was large enough for two people to share. It was packed with authentic Thai flavor. For entrees we had the peanut chicken and the shrimp with sweet and sour sauce. Neither dish had any authentic Thai flavor. I ordered those entrees at other Thai restaurants before, and at this restaurant it tasted more Americanized. It felt like we were eating Chinese food instead of Thai food. On a positive note the portions are generous here, and they do serve you quality food. It was good just not what I came here for. I wanted authentic Thai food not Americanized Thai food. The owner was very nice, and the place was very clean. If you like Americanized Thai food then this is your place. read more

This place is so cute and the inside has such a calming feel! I'm so happy we stumbled across this place! We both loved our entrees, the green chicken curry was spicy and flavorful! The chicken curry was amazing, just wish the portion was bigger. This spot also has great Thai ice teas that were so yummy. Picked up a green curry with vegetables. For this particular time, 3 stars for the food. Generally ranges between 3 to 3.5. Normally medium spicy here is hardly spicy - however, in this instance, we were sweating and panting and had beads of perspiration. Insanely spicy. The problem with most places like these is that their consistency is missing - on quality, taste and spice. I didn't eat more than a few spoonfuls because my world was on fire. Also, the green curry with vegetables (dinner portion) costed $20 with tax. Seems a tad steep to me for a $$ Thai restaurant. This has to be the most authentic Thai food I've had since being in New Jersey; fun fact I've visited Thailand so I know! From the time you step foot in the door you're engulfed in Thai culture to the point of feeling like you've teleported to Thailand. The food was absolutely delicious and very filling. The owners don't skimp on the food; you will get your money's worth. I tried the Chicken Pon Klib (chicken curry puff), the dish was so light and flaky it was hard to save any. The dish was not spicy, for anyone who doesn't like spice. It is paired with a cucumber salad sauce which tastes like a sweet and sour sauce 10/10. I also got my staple meal (pad thai), no complaints; and for dessert I got mango sticky rice. Not everyone can make a good mango sticky rice, but this place takes the cake for a delicious mango sticky rice. Overall if you want something different, want to try Thai food please check them out; you won't be disappointed! read more

We came here for a holiday dinner with our grandmother. Some dishes were good but some were not. The good dishes- shrimp pad thai, chicken satay, basil duck. The bad dishes- green chicken curry was not edible, chicken was very rubbery and the taste was off-putting, the jumbo shrimp fried rice did not have jumbo shrimp and the portion was tiny for $21 fried rice. The service was not great- we had to ask for water multiple times. We received our billl with over 20% gratuity already added without telling us. We tried to explain that we dont mind paying 20% tip but not any more for mediocre service and food. Then the waiter started attacking us and saying we're the only ones complaining about this. Then he ripped the bill out of our hands and yelled "what do you want to pay"! He claimed that it was on the menu and we should have read it.. when we explained that most other restaurants inform you, he now changes his story and says he did inform us of the automatic gratuity. We tell him we were never told and he now says he was too busy to tell us. (There was only one other table besides us) Which is the real story? We would not go back again. read more

We arrived for lunch and perused the menu quite extensively since there were a lot of offerings to decipher. For those of you who are vegans, there's plenty to choose. We both opted for curry.....I ordered green curry with shrimp, peppers and eggplant. My friend ordered red curry with shrimp etc. Since we both like "heat", we ordered no.2 out of no.5 sauce. I use to adore this location. Food is phenomenal and great portion size for the price. It's a more expensive Thai place too. But I went here with a group of friends recently and it was just eh. The food was good but the portions were small. Also it's like they just have random dishes they use. My friend had her curry in a bowl that has a bunch of Italian pasta words on it. The Pad see yu was delicious however the curry was not very good. Then ordered dinner later in week, had shrimp pad Thai and chicken pad Thai. Came to this restaurant on a Saturday night at 9pm after checking their website that says they close at 10:30. They sat us (2ppl) right away and before I can even ask for their specials, the waitress said please order quickly because the kitchen is closing in 5 minutes. I said buy online it says 10:30? She replied with yea we didn't update it. She kept coming back to the table asking if we know what we are getting. The food came out pretty quick and it was good but the whole experience was bad. I have never been to a restaurant that felt so rushed to finish my food so quickly. After we finished, she came so quickly with the check without even asking how was the food? Would you like to order anything else? Dessert? I understand there is a shortage in staffing and maybe that's why they had to close early, but pleas update your website so people don't drive out of their way to come to your restaurant just to be rushed. read more
