A decent Thai restaurant. The ambience was amazing. Lot of trees and greenery inside the restaurant. The staff and service was good. The food was decent. Got the Tod Mun Gai (3.5/5) and duck curry (4/5). Overall a decent place.

Marion is a small town in Southern Illinois, so finding Asian genre restaurants in small towns are slim. But found Baan Thai and decided to try it out. Ordered Pad See Ew with tofu and Pad Ginger with veggies. Pad See Ew was on the sweeter side. Pad Ginger had a lot of ginger and the veggies used were generic veggies you would see in a frozen veggie bag (baby corn, wrinkle cut carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, snap peas). Food is more Americanized, but somewhat decent.

2.5 stars. The restaurant is clean, service is friendly, and you can customize the spiciness level of the pad Thai. The portion size and flavor was great. I would come back for the noodles! However, I ordered a side of steamed broccoli - and I like the fact that that's an option - however it was slightly undercooked in my opinion and few pieces were not good, where tiny parts of the broccoli florets had turned black. For that reason, I can only give 2.5 stars for my visit.

Absolutely amazing Thai cuisine! Easily the best that I have ever experienced in America. The flavors were fresh, vibrant and complex. I ordered my dishes medium spicy which is just enough to put a nice tingle on my lips and tongue. Tonight I ordered the Summer Rolls with Crab, Tom Yum soup with Chicken and Drunken Noodles with Beef. Everything was fresh and tasty. Superb taste and flavor resonated in my mouth. I chose this establishment for dinner tonight based on the recommendations of my fellow Yelpsters. You were spot on about this hidden gem. I would like to eat here again and I highly recommend this restaurant for great Thai food. Restroom was clean and odorless. Service was courteous and efficient. Total before tip for this flavorful feast was $21.10.

Really nice restaurant with a clean interior and a good amount of indoor seating. I arrived about…read more15 minutes after opening and was one of the first orders, though more people trickled in shortly. I ordered at the counter and decided to eat in. Staff seemed friendly. I got the shrimp spring rolls and the beef pho. The spring rolls were served with a peanut sauce and were fairly simple--mainly just lettuce, vermicelli noodles, and shrimp wrapped in rice paper. I'm used to variations that usually include more greens/vegetables like carrots, thai basil, cucumber, etc. Still, they were a nice, fresh appetizer. The beef pho was pretty interesting. The broth had a decent beefy flavor but lacked the aromatics that I'm used to tasting in pho. The best way I can describe it is that it tasted very plain and uncomplicated. I'd probably chalk this up to the fact that I've lived in northern NJ / NYC for most of my life which has a large Asian population and many Pho restaurants. The beef slices were also thicker and a bit tougher than what I'm used to. No options for tripe, tendon, or meatballs either. Normally, I would have given 3 stars, but I appreciate this restaurant and its food for what it is in context. I'm just glad that I can get a decent bowl of pho when I'm craving it.
