So so delicious! Hit the spot for my Indian food craving. First off, the garlic nan was incredible. So fluffy, flavorful, and delightful. We ordered the saag choley, spice level 2. It was delicious and would order this again! We also ordered the chicken curry, spice level 3. This one had a kick to it (as someone who doesn't really do spice) but still very good. My favorite thing we ordered was chicken tikka masala. That being said, everything we ate was remarkable. The restaurant is clean and for a Saturday night they were pretty busy! Let's bond over Indian Food shall we? I've been eating at this location for almost 14 yrs this fall and I can say with confidence that this is the best Indian Food around. Bold statement? Maybe. But I've had enough Indian Food to tell the difference in quality ingredients and consistently good food to make that statement. I'm also a creature of habit, so I tend to order the same thing when I go here lol. I will say I've tried both their lunch and dinner buffets and loved all the delicious sides and offerings on them. (I moved here almost 14 yrs ago and friends took us to another Indian place I believe in Clifton and I said, "This tastes just like Baba India!" In which my friend said "It's the same family." Anyhoo, I rarely eat inside but usually call in for pick up which is what I did this time. They do have plenty of seating inside for groups or if you're eating alone. The place is very dated and kinda dark inside, but it's clean and provides professional service. I always wonder why their building is so bland on the outside. Very very beige and old looking-BUT the food is great. Valpak coupons always have coupons for eat in or carry out. We get $4.00 off, just download the coupon and show it to them at the register. 4*'s and not 5*? Here's why: The price has nearly doubled to $40.00 for the same order I've been getting all these years and the container sizes have gotten smaller as well as the rice. Rice isn't expensive and it's at least 1/3 smaller. That being said, I may not order as often, but they deliver on flavor and quality which is worth the splurge. read more

For more than a decade, I have patronized Baba, mainly ordering the Saag Paneer and occasionally Garlic Naan when I have dined with friends. Their recipes are consistent and good. Today, I added the Fish Pakora appetizer to my typical order, and it was absolutely delicious! While I could go for less heavy on the salt, the flavor was all there. I ordered it for carryout, but when I arrived home, it was still hot, flaky, and fresh tasting. Baba is the closest Indian spot to my home that actually serves fish pakora, so they will definitely begin to see me more frequently. Yum! Also important to note is that the older gentleman who took my order over the phone and attended to me when I picked up my order was gentle and kind. With a warm and cozy setting and good food, this place is a lovely spot for good Indian food. Our server was on top of his game and kept us in water and tea. I was very happy with the food, the place and the service. Now we had been expecting a buffet but it had been very cold with a solid amount of snow so the buffet had been temporarily suspended. This place use to always be a absolute 10/10. The past two times we've gotten it the taste was complete off. Maybe a new cook. The garlic naan had WAY too much garlic almost inedible. The samosa chat was literally soup form and forgot the sides both times. Thankfully the chicken tikka masala was good still both times. Our daughter brought me home some leftovers from here a couple of months ago. It was really good, and I liked it better than the much closer Flame. Tried it again last week and it was even better! It's worth the drive. I always get Chicken Tikka Masala, extra side of rice and garlic nan. According to their website, Chicken Tikka Masala is the most popular dish. Posting that on their on line order page may help me venture out on my next order and try something new and different. Their website is easy to navigate and I was able to pay online. I've been coming to Baba India with my dad since I was a child - so most of my life! Personally I think this is the best Indian in the city. Their rice is unique to any other rice I've had because they put saffron in it and I think it really adds something special to the rest of the meal. Their garlic naan is very garlicky and has a good crispness to it. Some restaurants use too much oil and it makes the naan greasy but here it is just right. Their mango lassi is delicious - a smooth, drinkable mango yogurt with a hint of Rosewater. The Rosewater is used perfectly, as too much Rosewater can quickly be overpowering. Chicken tikka masala is the go to for both my husband and I, and I think Baba's is the best. It's very creamy and they give you tons of sauce (very important in my book) and it has a good amount of spices. Service is always excellent here as they are very attentive and quick to provide refills and check ins on your table. Highly recommend Baba for your next Indian craving! read more

Was recently reading an article about the best Indian restaurants in the US. Needless to say I was very happy to see one located in an area where I frequently travel for business. Finally had a chance to try it today and it did not disappoint. So happy I made the trip to Baba. Today I had the chicken korma. A beautiful dish, loaded with chicken, cashews in a silky smooth curry. The Paratha that I ordered along side was perfect...crispy outside with a nice chew to it. Aromatic, spicy(if you want), deliciously spiced and very very fresh. Everything you crave about Indian cuisine. We were super impressed by the server. He was attentive and friendly. And the interior was clean and colorful and there were fun music videos in the background but it was still easy to hear our server and each other. We did have some trouble finding them but we are not familiar with the area. I know that it will be easier next time because I can't wait to go back. My party of 6 ended up walking to this restaurant after the wait at a brunch spot was too long. Despite the large "lunch buffet" sign outside, they were only doing a la carte orders. The restaurant wasn't busy at all -- just a handful of tables, but service is slow. Despite asking for the check early, we were still waiting by the counter for them to ring up our payments. As for the food, it's dependable -- nothing bad, but also nothing amazing. I ordered the chicken tikka masala with a medium spice level; I definitely could've gone spicier. They also gave us three large bowls of rice, but it wasn't enough for all six of us. We ordered two types of naan, but they came on one plate together -- this made it hard to differentiate. Large restaurant groups that are more on trend seem to scoop up people dining out for the night; undeservedly though, the intimacy and memorable night-out is here for you. The setting at Baba India at night is so intimate for a food place formerly known for its lunch buffet. The restaurant has made a pivot toward higher-end sit-down dining, and the service was excellent. We ordered garlic naan, chicken tikka, and aloo saag. The Tandor they cook with in the back kitchen has a real expert slapping naan dough into the side of the hot ceramic oven, because the naan is one of the best I have ever had: delicate, crispy, still steaming from the oven when it comes out to the table. The family has run this restaurant and others for 3 generations now. I love that age old story in the culinary world. Families surviving, traveling, thriving, nourishing and giving generation after generation on what started off as scribble on a grandmother's kitchen card, or time around her. Looking to try a new Indian restaurant in Cincinnati, I called Baba to place a carryout order. It will undoubtedly be the last time I will call them. I will start this review saying that I actually placed my order partially in Hindi which is the common language spoken. I go through this effort because it minimizes the risk of major errors which could potentially be lethal. I called and made it exceptionally clear that the order needed to be sensitive to tree nut allergies. The lady on the phone was short, rude, and rushed me. I ordered classic items known to be tree nut free. At the end of the order I ask she reviews the order and confirms food safety. She rudely instead asks for my name and phone number. After I insist, she states that all the items are safe but follows up the statement with one of the dishes ordered included cashew nuts. Safety is not a priority here. Manners aren't either. read more

Great Indian food! We love coming here to eat or ordering it for takeout. The chicken tikka masala with an order of garlic naan is by far our favorite thing on the menu and it is consistently phenomenal. You can select your spice level (I think it's something like 0-7). I always go on the lower end (2-3) but my fiancé can handle some spice so he goes higher for his order. There are always coupons for Baba India on the back of our Kroger receipts, so we usually use those which is a nice perk. After experiencing Baba India, I really don't think we will try another Indian restaurant in the Cincinnati area. I would be too afraid to be disappointed. read more

I cannot believe this restaurant is still in business. Everything about my 2 experiences here have been mediocre at best. I tried them initially in 2016. I was very underwhelmed so I did not return until 2021. The lunch special looked good for the food quantity and price, but was yet again... poor quality. Lukewarm and lacking flavor. I ate until I was full and left the rest on the table. I wish this place had better quality, more flavorful food because it's the closest Indian restaurant to me. read more

Baba India catered a rehearsal dinner for my family at the Cincinnati Observatory. Fifty people attended. Everyone loved the food and even stocked up on leftovers, so there was plenty. My wife and are in the restaurant business, so we know about being attentive on customers and taking great care of them. My wife's been there before. She highly recommended Baba. We were greeted right away with a pleasure smile from a older lady. We got our water right away. Was offered an India drink non-alcohol. It was smooth, I think it was mango drink. Started with appetizer the stuff beef and vegetables appetizer. I can't remember it, but it was delicious. Then onto you main entrees the lamb curry and we ordered the garlic nan. That was AMAZING flavor and very fresh. Eating it together with saffron rice and the curry combination was unbelievable flavors and freshness. There were a lot of south Indian options, all flavorful, plenty of carbs to serve as a base (naans, roti, bhatoora, rice, vegetarian briyani), and a decent little fresh salad bar at the end (ice berg lettuce, tomato, cucumber). My faith in humanity was restored a bit today. I dropped by Baba Indian on my way home from PetSmart and ordered Bartha Mushroom, Chicken Makhani and a salad. I was starving and hadn't eaten all day so I eagerly unpacked my food but the Makhani was missing. I know they meant to put it in there because I got 2 containers of rice so I called them. They asked if I could drive back but it was about 20 mins away so I asked if they could refund just the Makhani. After a short wait they said they would drive it to me! They even included some pakoras. My Bartha was amazing and my boyfriend said his Makhani was equally delicious. Had a craving for Indian food so I stopped here for lunch. Almost had the place to myself which is often a bad sign but was pleasantly surprised. Got the spicy chicken lunch special which cost $13. Its basically a sampling of 3 different dishes and with a generous side of naan, rice, and a tasty dessert. Now I am stuffed (that was a lot of food) and happy. Food was tasty, served hot, was perfectly spiced and generous. Only knock I can think of is the bathroom could be cleaner and the trash can was overflowing. I definitely recommend. read more
