This is my new fav Indian restaurant in the greater Cincinnati area. The food is authentic and delicious. I initially assumed since it's a biryani place, Indo-Chinese or North Indian food might not be that good but how wrong I was? We got some noodles and it was exactly like the street noodles you get in India. Also got the Gongura veg biryani which was amazing. My fav was the spicy Karampodi Paneer. SO GOOD! The service was ok... they were clearly short staffed, the same person was serving, taking calls, checking out food delivery people. I think this is a common theme in Indian restaurants that they just don't hire enough people. So don't be surprised if your server is bringing food to your table while on a call. read more

A decent place in Mason. The food did not disappoint at all. I got the boneless vijayawada biryani. It was spicy and on point. We also got the Poori Bhaji. Apart from corn in the Bhaji (which we are not a huge fans of) it tasted very good. We also tried the Dosa and Idly. The Dosa was huge and would suffice as a meal. The idly was also very good. The coconut chutney had a nice taste to it as well. They do not have some items on them menu, I was a tad bit disappointed. This place is one of my favorite spots in town for Indian food. They have an assortment of typical North Indian dishes (tikka masala etc.) as well as several South Indian and Indo-Chinese dishes that are harder to find in town. Everything is made fresh and extremely flavorful with fresh spices like cardamom pods and star anise clearly visible in the curries. I've had several dishes and have never had anything I don't like. I'm partial to the chicken manchurian and gobi 65 appetizers as well. My wife has had most of their biryanis and craves them. I'm also a fan of the fact that you can get naan or roti instead of rice at no extra charge. read more

Bawarchi came highly recommended from a friend in Atlanta. I was in town for a client meeting and decided to visit the place for lunch. The place was welcoming. The menu was elaborate and have multiple choice for vegetarians... which is quite refreshing. The ambience was alright with Indian music flashing on multiple monitors. We ordered all vegetarian food. The paneer masala ( cottage cheese curry) was awesome, although I thought the gravy could do better if it were less viscous. The tandoori bread was fresh and soft. It sure was straight from the oven. We also ordered vegetable korma which wasn't good at all. It remained untouched from among three of us. The Chana daal was great! I'd say the food at this place was spicier than what I have tasted as 'medium spicy' at other places. So order mild mild if you cannot tolerate spicy food and yet want to savor Indian cuisine :-). Then finally I tasted the vegetable biryani. I will say that this was the best of them all. In summary, I would recommend this place to anyone seeking decent Indian food in the Mason, OH area. read more

Bawarchi is one of my FAVORITE places for Indian food in Cincinnati. I have tried them many times and food has never disappointed me. They have a quite an assortment of Indian dishes, represents various regions of India from North to South - Punjabi dishes , Chaat, Veg. and Non-veg curries, South Indian dishes, Indo- Chinese and desserts. Specially, their biryani's are one of the BEST biryani's I ever had. The garlic naan is a must-try as, it is phenomenal. On my recent visit, I ordered Chicken Chettinad, Veg Manchurian, Garlic Naan and biryani. All the dishes were tasty, aromatic and fresh. The spice level was nicely balanced. The service was quick and staff is very courteous. I was very impressed with the consistency in taste, service and flavors. It is my one number #1 choice in Indian food here in Cincy. Since this place opened, I've had food from here multiple times in office catered lunches or at a friend's party. Today, i decided to dine in. I can comfortably say, after trying a zillion things from the menu, that this place is a HIT or MISS. I tried their Vijaywada boneless Chicken Biryani, which is served with raita (yogurt based gravy), and mirchi ka salan (spicy gravy) I suppose. It was pretty good. My friend had the Vegetable Dum biryani, which he despised. The other things that I've had here that were good: Chicken 65, Chicken Manchurian, Chicken Chettinad curry. The things that weren't good: Most desserts, vegetarian options are distinctly bad. Also, I'm not intensely critical of this, but I find that their food is a little too oily. Service was fair, no complaints. And the seating and decor were fine. Pro-tip: Go in here if you are a meat eater. You won't be disappointed. read more

4/5 mainly because I was expecting a super authentic place like the YouTube videos of actual Bawarchi in Hyderabad. I went there with two Indian friends. We expected to be able to eat on banana leaves just like in the pictures to feel super authentic. That was not available or I think it's available as a thali during weekends. Below is a summary of how I got into this rating: Taste 5/5- very delicious for a non-Indian and for Indians too, both Hyderabadi and non-hyderabadi. Also, they said the biryani tasted authentic Menu 4/5- great variety. I'm not very familiar with a lot of menu items, which makes me feel excited to try them :) Amount 3/5- maybe the biryani is very delicious so they don't give you a lot. It's enough for one person but it's not the typical serving for Indian restaurants. We also ordered the paneer tikka kabob I believe is what it's called. It came as for relatively large chunks of paneer, which costed more than $10. I didn't feel like it should've costed that much Ambience 3.5/5- I'm torn about the ambience. While it is bright, which is good and is not like any other typical Indian restaurant, which are usually red or orange, it didn't feel very authentic. It felt like I was at a fancier chipotle. Bathroom 3/5- it's clean but I've seen cleaner. I'm just particular about restaurant bathrooms so pardon me for being but-picky Price 3/5- a little more expensive than what it's worth Authenticity 3/5- while the menu is quite original and offers more hyderabad dishes, I think this restaurant couldn't decide whether it wants to be a true Indian restaurant or an American-Indian restaurant. So far I haven't been disappointed with the taste but the way the food was served was lacking by just a little bit. We ordered chai and Indian coffee and while we expected them to be served in tiny glasses just like in the streets of India, they were served in paper cups where they looked super tiny in quantity. Also, they have chicken tikka masala, which I'm not even going to try because that's a North Indian dish in a South Indian restaurant or if my sources are accurate chicken tikka masala is actually western Overall, without knowing that Bawarchi is a well-known restaurant in Hyderabad, I wouldn't have tried this place without knowing some back story. Though there are many 3s I'd say the final rating is still 4 because the taste has so much more weight :) read more

Kadai Paneer at Bawarchi is my favorite - no other Resturant got this right. Boneless Vijayawada Biryani is also good at this place.

I have been visiting this restaurant since June 2017. This is the only Indian restaurant in my opinion that has maintained its quality consistently. I loved that they have enhanced their menu to add Indian pizzas and various biriyani dishes. There are many restaurants that l have been where either only the vegetarian or non vegetarian food tastes good. I feel that this restaurant gives importance to both and balances dishes equally. Their famous dish is the karampodi chicken in the appetizer menu it only the spicier side if anyone enjoys spicy food. Their keema biryani on the weekends is another famous dish to try. read more

Simply delicious!!! I saw an article in the newspaper about this place being the number 1 place to get authentic Taste!! I am no expert but everything I had was simply the best!! The flavors were so Devine. It was so good it was dangerous because I wanted to keep eating!! Everyone there was so nice and welcoming for which I really appreciate. Sunday evening we enjoyed vegetable samosas, chicken saag, "(spicy chicken mix)", and some garlic naan. Everything tastes very good, 5 star flavor. The service was mediocre at best. They leave a water pitcher on the table which was helpful, but we eventually had to flag someone down to refill the pitcher. I came from CA. And my son insisted that I should try this restaurant because I was looking for an Indian restaurant to dine. I checked on Yelp and saw it has only 3 stars where others had higher reviews..To my surprise, the food was amazing. Spices were perfectly flavorful and aromatic. Perfect with the garlic naan or rice. The staff there were friendly and provide great service. I ordered Mutton Marsala with level 4 spice. Wow! Amazingly delicious! Solid 5. I ate with my friend who is from New Delhi, so he knows good Indian food and he loves this place. The spices are excellent, the portions are good and the presentation is beautiful. I think some may be worried or judgmental that it's a chain but that is part of why it is more consistent. Even the details of the water on the table, glassware and fennel seeds are all done better than an average Indian restaurant. They may have had issues with backing up because they do get busy but our service was good. I like busy places. read more

Service was very slow, and they seemed more focused on filling DoorDash orders than attending to the actual live tables in the restaurant. The server also had a bit of an attitude, and rolled his eyes when I asked if I could have a bag to carry out my to-go containers. Not a big or unrealistic request! The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. The garlic naan had a few over cooked pieces, and my chicken saag had what was either a burnt vegetable or piece of spinach that was an unpleasant surprise to bite into. I did not read the review of this place until I was already inside and seated. I started thinking maybe I should have when no one came to take our order for 15 minutes. Our food did arrive one hour later. Yikes! It was a Saturday night and the line for door dashers was a constant cross traffic pattern blocking any view we had of the impressive-looking dining room. Door dashers were coming in and out for the entire time in a steady stream. Information, eye contact, and common courtesy was lacking the entire visit. We weren't waited on by any stretch of the imagination. It's a shame because the food was delicious, hot, fresh and well-presented. We paid the bill by getting g in the door dash line and left. Went in and ordered 2 mango lassi, just paid and immediately requested if it could be changed to Chikoo (another fruit) milkshakes and were willing to pay for the difference. My husband is from Andra Pradesh and found this place. We've been there twice. It's a good option if you would like to go for South Indian food. All the biryanis and andra specific food was great. Ulvacharu Biryani was on point (husbands words). I was very excited to see indo-Chinese in Cincinnati but we ordered multiple items and none of them were good. It was one sauce for everything kind of deal. Worth checking out if you are craving good South Indian food. It used to be the best biryani place in Cincinnati. You name a type of biryani, and they have it, and they make it better than anyone around. But..... Things changed, days passed... their biryani now, is horrible. Yes, horrible is an apt description of its taste now. When I ordered an extra spicy biryani, I got an oily buttery rice, without spice and without SALT. There is no salt in the biryani. The taste is disgusting and I am not going there again. I used to love this place for their food till today. Served wrong order and when asked, the server didn't even respond to it. Me and my friend used to love the masala idli here. Ordered masala idli and instead were served chili idli (Picture attached). Asked the server to confirm the description in the menu. As per the description Masala idli is dipped in yogurt, served with cumins and cashew-nuts. The chili idli's description is idli dipped in a sauce. This place is horrible! Placed an order was told it would be ready in 30 minutes, showed up at the place and waited another 50 minutes just to be told NOTHING. They could not find my order and everyone was running around like a chicken with their heads cut off. No one could give me an answer what was happening with my order. Multiple people walked in after me and got theirs and even then their orders were messed up. The staff is unprofessional and did not try to remedy the situation or provide any courtesy of information. I gave up and walked out without my order after waiting 1.5 hours. If you want horrible service, go to this place. If their service is awful, it probably reflects on their quality of food. Wonder what happened in the back at the kitchen. There are signs I look for when I go to a restaurant. Restroom cleanliness is one big factor. If they can't take care of the bathroom, I wonder how clean the kitchen is. I was also less than impressed with the cleanliness of the whole restaurant. The Bruegger's Bagels that was in that location earlier was so clean. It's sad to see what happened to that place. Please make sure that the place gets wiped down, there is paint on the walls, the restroom and kitchen has a cleaning schedule and the menus are wiped down regularly. I visited once and will give the place 2 more chances to do well. After the third strike, I will no longer frequent the establishment. As an Indian American, I want to make sure that foods from Indian states like this restaurant has do well. They would do well to review what I have written and make some small, but useful changes! But unfortunately not good, way to spicy, no questions about spice levels which makes me think everything is sitting in back already made.
