I live about 5 minutes from Chaska and drive by it at least four times a week, often more, and it took me almost half a year after they opened to finally give it a try. And I am soo happy I finally dragged myself in. I love Indian food, but Raja India (who I believe is owned by the same people as Akash down on 6th street in downtown Cincinnati) is closer and was always good enough. Additionally, the space that Chaska is in has been several Indian restaurants - none ever lasting very long. So, I was complacent and for that I am sorry. When you walk in you are greeted with the smell of curry spices and warm, red walls with black accents. On each table is a flower too. Getting to the good stuff, Chaska Grill has amazing Indian & Pakistani food. The flavor is just so much better than Raja's and I enjoy getting to see and take big bites of the ingredients (onions, peppers, chicken, paneer, etc.) I've gone back here about 3 times in the span of a week and a half it's so good. I've ordered dinner and I've had the lunch buffet - both of which were excellent. The lunch buffet food is all very mild so everyone can enjoy it. The selection at the buffet is also really diverse - another bonus. One of my new favorites is the Mixed Platter appetizer: 1 Vegetable Samosa, 1 Keema Samosa, 5 Vegetable Pakora, 2 Paneer Pakora and 2 Chicken Pakora (it's a combination of all their other appetizers.) Not only did I discover how amazing Paneer Pakora and Keema Samosa are, but I have a hard time picking between the appetizers - so why not just get them all? Problem solved. The family that owns Chaska is very friendly and really make sure that you're happy when you are there. When we were there for the lunch buffet they came over a handful of times to check up on us, refill drinks, and bring us more food. Parking is pretty easy - it's in a shopping center so there's lots of spaces to choose from. The interior every time we have been in has been spotless. This place opened recently, we found out about it from some Pakistani friends who recommended it as the best Pakistani/ Indian food in town! The first time we went was for the lunch buffet which contained many great authentic dishes like beriani and chicken tikka...I'm usually not a big fan of too much hot spices but I forgot all about that when I was eating there, you really enjoy the taste! during the month of Ramadan, they have a dinner buffet with a different daily menu, and the atmosphere becomes a family style and feels like traditional home iftar. the service is very good and the price is reasonable. I have been meaning to write a review on this place for sometime. Pakistani food is my comfort food and I am very picky when it comes to it. So when I say the food here is great, I am hoping it holds some weight My favorite dishes include: the keema naan, Aloo Naan, Chicken Saag, Mutka ghosht, and Karahi Chicken. Makes a brown man want to cry. Indo/PAaki food is known for its robust and vibrant flavor. This food may suffice for most of the non-brown for their diet is not as spice filled. However, for myself, the food came across as unenthusiastic. Literally Meh in taste. The palak paneer was decent, the only good thing, needed a bit of salt. This was carry out , did not have buffet , so i do not know about that. This place was awful. First of all, they were out of paneer pakora. Then they didn't ask what level of spice I wanted for my goat korma. And whatever they brought out was definitely not korma and way too spicy. Even though they assured me that it was indeed korma. It took forever for the food to be ready even though we were the only people in the place at first. I asked for paneer to be added to my dish and it seemed as though they must have been running low because the cubes were cut into tiny pieces. I have been to this place 5 times within 12 days, the reason behind is their authentic biryani and the grilled chicken. These guys know what they do; if you are in Cincinnati or nearby areas, try this place, I dont think lot of people know about this place, it is a hidden gem. Goat meat in the biryani is super tender and at its best, Chicken Tikka has that amazing flavor without the raw smell you get from other places, tried buffet once and it was good. First off, they are now closed on Monday, so we returned for the lunch buffet on Tuesday. Atmosphere is horrible, they were watching a very loud Indian news program and the lights above the table were off. Service at a buffet is usually minimal, but there was literally no service, they never came back to take any plates from our table, nor did they refill our water. Now to the food, it was OK, I've definitely had better Indian food. There was very little variety on the buffet at lunch, and the labels were not accurate. I tried a little of everything, the saag paneer had a smoky burned flavor - which it usually does not have. The naan and rice pudding were good. Probably won't be going back here. read more

I was expecting to be dazzled by the cuisine when I saw how authentic the restaurant appeared. Unfortunately, it was very difficult to order. First I asked for the chicken tikka saag, the waitress came back wtih the news....out of spinach. Next I asked for lamb korma, after a trip to the kitchen,,,,,guess what.....out of lamb. I ended up with dal which was ok. The rice was hard and cold......and had to go back to the kitchen to be nuked. In Cincy I've been to a bunch of indian/Pakistani restraunts and chaska deserves a spot on the top.Their food variety is limited but they focus on taste and quality, meat is soft and they use halal.Spice levels are also perfect, although they lack a good desserts but I'm ok with that.Service is good even though only one waitress is managing all tables. Ambience is decent enough and I would definitely consider coming back. I have only hit buffets at this place, not sure on how the quality is on other items on the menu. read more

The beef sheesh Kabob and the saag paneer are the best I have ever eaten in the US which includes all big indo pak population areas including Chicago and Houston. The only problem with the menu is that sometimes when you go to eat there, the beef kabob's are not available. We have ordered carry out and eaten in, and the service is generally pleasant. One time we placed a small catering order and when we got home (40 minutes away in Harrison) the beef kabob order was missing and called the restaurant and the owner, Mr. Saleem, immediately apologized and personally delivered that to us right away. Went to place a to go order, and first thing was their mixed appetizer. I was put on hold to check if they were out of any of it, and then told the only appetizer they had was vegetable samosa. I've been to almost every Indian restaurant from Cincy to Dayton. Each one has something distinct and this place is no different. Hands down my favorite tandoori chicken. The perfect amount of spice. Great flavor and always moist. Everything else is pretty standard fare for Indian. I also wish that they had an onion chutney instead of hot pickles. read more

Picked up food last night. Took an additional 30 minutes to be ready, totaling an hour for pick up. The place itself is very dirty, and the waitress was wearing plastic gloves while touching her hair, checking her cell phone and putting plates out for the buffet line. Sort of defeats the purpose?! The food itself was horrible. The chicken tikka masala sauce tasted like spaghetti sauce or something. Definitely not the indian food I am used to. For this area of the country, this is the closest thing to a great Indian restaurant there is. We make trips all the way to West Chester periodically for the dinner buffet. Positives: * Not overpriced like restaurants in Oxford * Nice dinner buffet with two dish highlights (saag paneer and chicken makhani) * Very good naan (not the typical mediocre-grade naan that most area restaurants serve) * Friendly low-key service * No loud Bollywood music * Food is consistently made at the same level of quality * Has comfortable booths * Has a lunch buffet * Good quality basmati * Doesn't push unhealthy soda Neutrals: * The original decor was nicer but the new decor is alright. * The buffet is only offered once a week at dinner (but at least there is one at dinnertime) * There could be more paneer in the saag paneer on the buffet (but I realize cost is an issue) * Buffet is biased toward meat dishes * Buffet selection is rather static Negatives: * Water comes in plastic bottles which is wasteful. I think they should switch to buying gallons of distilled water and pour it into glasses. It would waste less plastic and make it easier to give people a larger serving of water. The small amount of water in the bottles of water you're served means you usually have to wait a significant amount of time to get the server's attention for more water, which isn't ideal. * The television detracts a little from the ambiance, especially with some of the stuff that comes on it. It's pretty far away from most of the tables, though. * Menu selection is basic like most Indian restaurants in the area. I can only speak for what i had, and the service i got, but probably worst indian carry out experience i have had ever. Im not super picky, i dont typically do reviews, but it was just terrible. Bad service, i came back after half hour from my order time to pick up and it took like 20 minutes to get my food. Got home and nan was average but lamb curry was horrible, a tiny portion (half most other places) for 16 dollars and the lamb was almost non existent, it was on bone and almost no meat and some fat. Serious had like 4 bites of lamb. The curry sauce was half oil and i could get better from a jar at the store. Ordered an 8 of 10 and was also not hot. In summary, horrible service, overpriced, small portion and poor quality. Just dreadful. Like i said, i can only speak for what i had, but would never recommend this place...would give 0 stars if i could. read more

Best Tandoori/Tikka in town! Moist, flavorful and most importantly has the smoky charcoal cooked flavor that is missing is most other Indian restaurants in Cincinnati. The REAL deal and I have had a lot of tandoori/kababs. Their boti kabab, saag paneer, chicken karahi is also good. Also has a good lunch buffet. Compare their tikka with other Indian restaurants in Cincinnati and see the difference. Their Chicken Biryani is also the real biryani as served in India/Pakistan. I don't have any Indian places particularly close, so I was pleased to see some good reviews for Chaska. I stopped by on a Saturday around 7pm and there was plenty of tables available. Pretty typical looking Indian restaurant from compared to others I've visited, but the chicken vindaloo I had was excellent. The staff (those I talked to at any rate) seemed very cheerful and friendly. It's a little out of the way for me, but I'm looking forward to going back to try some of their other dishes. read more

Tucked away next to a rug shop and in a small unassuming shopping complex resides this little Indian restaurant. The place is what you would expect from a little hole in the wall family owned restaurant. It's clean, but there are hardly any decorations. I showed up on a Sunday evening with a craving for some Indian food and I was informed that there was a buffet which I chose over ordering anything off the menu. That's where I went wrong. The food had obviously been left out all day and was quite dry and questionable at best. After sampling a little of everything I made my way home to nurse the consequences of my bad decisions of that evening. The naan is on point along with the tikki masala but the paneer had a weird aftertaste. This is not somewhere I would visit again, if you like Indian buffet style food then I suggest going to the spice train. That place is dope as fuck. read more

OK. This review has been long overdue. As you can see from my profile, I am always on the look out for good food that comes from the Indian subcontinent. Someone at work recommended me this place and I have fallen in love with Chaska Grill. Now Chaska Grill is a Pakistani restaurant. Pakistani food is similar to Indian food, just the method of preparation is slightly different. The food is prepared from scratch, very flavorful and slightly spicier than what you get in your average Indian restaurants in town. I have been here on 3-4 occasions for their Sunday lunch buffet, and it never disappoints. The Tandoori chicken stands out among the entire menu. It is spicy and the taste of Tandoori chicken here is almost similar to what I had back home in India. Goat curry is my thing and I love the goat curry they serve here. If goat curry is not your thing, then the chicken curry, the chicken biryani (spicy chicken layered with herbs and rice and slow cooked) and the saag paneer (spinach and cottage cheese) they server here is equally delicious as well. Dessert is nothing to write about. It's the same as all other Indian buffets in town. Another specialty is that while you eat your buffet, the server will bring you a basket of hot naan, fresh out of the tandoor brick oven ! The service is pretty efficient and courteous. Oh.. and after a nice hearty meal, you can kick back and enjoy some delicious "chai" : Tea with ginger and cardamom. Food was really spicy, which is probably authentic, but the buffet was not refilled very often, resulting in old food. Wait staff was rude, pointing to our table while on the phone. Also just dropped off a bottled water and didn't wait to see if we wanted anything else. Guess they did not have any soft drinks. Will not be back. Found out about this place via local mags. Checked it out last Friday. Decor is new, and yeah the heavy vinyl/plastic table cloth is there !!! We ordered some veg platter, matar paneer, a nan/paratha and some chicken boti. Spice level 3 will start to burn your lips, so be careful. Portion size is unbelievable..beats all other Indian restaurants in the city for sure. Food was aromatic/tasty. The chicken boti was very well garnished with fresh onions/green bell peppers/cilantro/lemon. It was melt in your mouth , nicely grilled and u can see the marinade after a bite. It was hot, and I am a fan. The steaming basmati rice plate was good as well, most places give u something thats borderline warm, and too dry. Service was good, timely. As is with any ethnic restaurant, u will notice family/friends gathering and chatting, and people streaming in/out of the kitchen..!! Our waiter was very friendly and checked on us repeatedly. The place opened about 4 mos. ago, I knew this location had about 5 restaurants so far, 4 of them failed. These folks invested a bit in the decor, though I'd prefer lighter interiors to bring out the roominess of the place. I am definitely going back.. Menu is very typical of any Indian/Pakistani place, nothing to gloat about. read more

A BIG NO from 6 of us here. It looks like they don't want to serve the customers, two families went on saturday night to the restaurant looking for Biryani. However was disappointed to know that they were not serving biryani. So disappointed , we checked with the elderly lady when we could enjoy the biryani and she said we can try it on Sunday. So i called in today to find out if they are serving the biryani and in the process some lady answered the call and put me on a hold and then hung up, then i called again and she said to hold on, after she came back she said they are not serving biryani today as well. Then i asked her when they server biryani generally. She said friday and saturday. I told her that we were there yesterday (saturday) and biryani was not served. then she said and i quote " I dont have time to argue with you on this, we served biryani yesterday" So you guys can take a call whether you want to go there and get humiliated the way she humiliated us. The food is absolutley amazing! ... on the other hand there is no way to enjoy it unless you want to eat in. I am someone who loves to get awesome take out instead of fast food and since they offer take out... i would love to pick up amazing food, BUT there is no one who can take an order over the phone. even when i talked to the "manager" my order was wrong. i've put my faith in them too many times and having to be passed off to 3 other people because they cant do their job isnt acceptable. Have them read your order back and check it before you leave... i have gotten the wrong thing atleast 10 times (not even exaggerating bc i love thier food) ..but i have officially black listed them as someone i would give my money too. read more
