I worked with Joe, who was incredibly friendly, patient and helpful when I came in person to discuss paper options, etc. Order needed to be shipped, and came as expected, high quality, and professionally packaged. I was initially quoted much lower than the invoice that was sent to me. I spoke to Joe about it, and he corrected the invoice to be reflective of the original quote. I recommend that you double-check your quotes and prices and be clear about all costs, but other than that, enjoyed working with this business. read more

The owner of this company, Neil, sent a sexist email to his client list which included a dick-joke. It went to my work address, because our company--a major book publisher--worked almost exclusively with Baboo for our framing. I responded to the email expressing my concern with the unprofessional nature of the email. And this was the owner's response... "Thanks for your email, Grace! Not embarrassed in the slightest, but certainly appreciate your opinion, however humorless, rigid and ridiculous it is. Your self righteousness is truly impressive. Good luck in all your future endeavors. Ps - Get a life Grace." I'm never working with this company again. I recommend you don't either. Had the email been said to me in person by a colleague, it would have qualified as sexual harassment. The owner is a moron. The place has bad customer service and untrusthworthy results. They talk to professional photographers as if they don't know what they want in their own photos and want to charge you just for trying to approve what your photo will look like before it is printed, which is in their best interest. I've had good customer service here before, but most of the time, the owners shoot themselves in the foot and are destroying their business. I am done with this place. read more

If you like to throw your money and your cherished memories away you should go here! i used to go to gps, but it closed and i tried this because its hard to find a good place to develop black and white film... they processed my b&w film as slide film, realized it before cutting and mounting that they did it incorrectly, and threw the negatives in a box and pretended not to know anything. i called the shop no one knows their policy for when they mess up except the manager KUMAR, who is a serious DICK. He basically told me that it was my fault for not backing up my film! I mean really? Can someone please tell me how one might backup a roll of undeveloped film. no refund, a free roll of film and free development, because i'm definitely using them from now on. read more

I had a $500-something order of 11x14 prints. When I went to pick up the prints they looked horrible, as if the aspect ratio was completely off - nothing had a focus to it. I mentioned this on the spot, they agreed they didnt look right and very nicely reprinted them within a few hours for me, which was appreciated. The next batch looked gorgeous and crisp. They handled the situation quickly and professionally, but my real question is: who is doing any quality control 'round there? Were they just hoping I wouldn't notice?! read more

I wish I had read the reviews on here before I went to this place... unfortunately I thought it was called Baboo Fine Art & Framing so I couldn't find it on Yelp before now. I bought an amazon deal for this place that promised $150 worth or printing and framing services for $70. I had a lot of posters I wanted to frame, so it seemed like a great deal (in the past, I had large images custom framed for less than $70). I walked in one night after work last week, and the place seemed deserted. After waiting five minutes, a youngish guy came out of the back area to help me. I showed him the prints I wanted framed (I had brought 4 things, just to ensure I would spend the $150). He was kind of slow and confused -- he went into the back room again, came out front again, went back again (seeming to talk to the owners). After waiting for probably 30 minutes at this point (and the place was completely empty), he comes back and tells me each one will be over $150 to get framed. Of course there was no way I was getting a refund on my deal, so I had to pay an extra $10 to get my smallest print framed (it was about 8x15 in). When i expressed my confusion that each would cost so much, the guy working there just shrugged and took my cash. I would have appreciated at least SOME sort of explanation of price/quality of materials or workmanship. Overall a very poor experience - I will NOT be returning. read more

I just called them. My project: 44 mounted, color slides to be scanned into digital photos onto a disc. The price she quoted was $13. Thirteen dollars for... wait for it... each slide. I had her repeat that price twice just to make sure we didn't have a bad connection. Then I realized, she's got a bad connection alright. I actually laughed heartily at her, poor thing. Not her fault. She just works there. Personally, I have no problem with paying a little more for a service or a thing that's extraordinary or rare -- but anybody who pays that price for the conversion of a slide into a digital picture is... well... an idiot. read more

After I had emailed them a file to have them printed I had noticed the my print was off center (my fault) and I asked them if I sent it to them again if they could honor me the price of 5 dollars for the additional same print (8x10) The Owner type guy that I had seen there before, was very short with me and said i could just cut the picture...he then said that the machine wasnt ready to print at the moment, it was only 3:45pm. Then he said he doesnt make money off of 2 or so prints that they print large scale. WHY DO YOU OFFER THIS OPTION THEN?! Was in a rush so I went here without checking out the reviews. Big mistake! This place is just awful. I got some very bad scans of film there that were so contrasty and had dust marks all over it. And forget about getting your work on time. They will do it whenever they get around to it I guess. Save your time and money and go around the corner to Duggal. read more

I had a really good experience at Baboo. Connected with Neil one of the guys there and met him in house to take a look at a headshot I needed printed. He took tons of time to look at my photo with me, edited it with me (converted the file, resized it, and color corrected it) and then gave me feedback on the two proofs I got. THEN I ordered 30 prints, and they came out ready for me in less than 10 minutes. I definitely have never had this prompt service before, and although don't expect it every time (if they are busy) it was amazing to have my shots in my hand the DAY I went in to edit the photo, etc. Everyone was super nice to me. I would recommend this to my friends, and fellow actors, the quality of my print is great. read more

These guys are fantastic. I had a not so great, not so big photo of my father I wanted enlarged and framed as a Christmas gift. I went to Adorama first and they said they don't do anything like that anymore (they suggested I go to their website--so much for personalized service). So I didn't have high hopes when I brought it to Neil. But he brought his smarts and his enthusiasm to the project and the result was something wonderful. (Throughout the process we also engaged in a long-running philosophical dialogue on the nature of existence, with some very questionable, off-color humor thrown in for good measure, all at no extra cost.) In a world that's succumbed to one-size-fits-all service and solutions, Baboo is part of a dying breed. So I've had some issues with this place. The customer service is excellent, which is why I'm not giving it 1 star. Julie, the girl who took care of me was great. HOWEVER, the prints here are VERY poor quality. I had a black and white photo printed there (about 11 x 16 inches) and the paper they used made all the detail in the shadow regions of my print become black. Completely took out all the detail in the photo. They then said that it happens with that paper selection. They are (or really just appear to be) a "Professional Photography Printing Service" and should know what paper will make a photo look good and which paper will make it look like shit. After I told them that I wasn't happy with the print they told me that not only would they charge me again for it, but that they would charge me a 100% rush fee (DOUBLE THE ORIGINAL COST) because I needed it by the next day (I had a gallery show). So, long story short: this place makes great prints if you don't give a shit about the quality of your prints. If you want your prints to look nice and be printed on non-flimsy paper then I suggest printing yourself or going somewhere else. read more
