I've used them a few times to develop 35mm print and slide film, along with low res scans. The quality of their work is ok but the customer service is horrible. There's a young woman with short hair who is especially unprofessional and rude. When I asked her to cut a roll of negatives (that they gave me as one uncut roll) she told me that they don't cut negs, handed me a pair of scissors and told me to cut it myself. Mind you, this was the first time I've ever received uncut negs from them, yet she told me that they haven't cut negs in over a year. Her tone was rude, utterly discourteous and condescending - basically telling me that I was wrong because she works there. To add insult to injury, when I got home I saw that the negs were covered in dust and scratches. Never again will I give them my business. read more

I have had good experiences here before getting large prints made and the guy who initially helped me was great too. But the man who followed up with me was super condescending and rude. A series of things went wrong with this simple task of trying to get an 8x8 matte print... -Nobody discussed prices with me but they made me pay over the phone AFTER it was already printed, which was more than I expected... -The print had a color cast to it and was on the wrong paper that he tried to convince me was actually matte....I've worked in a lab before and this was not matte. -There was no apology or working with me to simply adjust the color (as they have done in the past free of charge) instead he said it would be $35/hr to sit and do color and paper tests and that I probably didn't have the money for that anyway (!!) -I explained to him that I had had better customer service there before and he was being kind of a jerk about it, at which point he blew up at me screaming at me to get out of the store (without giving me a receipt or refund) calling me a "stupid pretty woman" (!!) I said I would leave if he gave me a refund or receipt at which point he yelled at me to get out before he would hit me... HIT ME?!!! This was in front of another customer who was equally shocked. It is a pretty fair request if i'm not getting a print i'm satisfied with to get a refund or receipt (as i had already paid for this) but to actually threaten to hit me??? Seriously?!?! So offensively terrible... Don't give your money to this place! read more

Whoa. I always read reviews for most places before I go there. I sort of dropped the ball on this one and listened to a recommendation from a staff member at Adorama, which I generally trust. They seemed nice enough at first, though extremely expensive. I went ahead anyway and left my roll of 220 film with them to process. I also paid an extra 16 bucks to have the negs scanned to a cd. I got a cd with unusable, extremely low res scans, and film that was cut through one of the images, which they obviously were not able to scan. I called and asked if I could get higher res scans and they said that that would be an extra 15 bucks, PER FRAME. No way. Do not go here. read more

Incredibly disappointed by Baboo. I had been using them since college based on the advice of one of my photography professors, but they're customer service and quality has taken a terrible turn for the worse. They did not properly pack 2 items shipping to Los Angeles and they arrived in LA broken. They remade them but shipping was not refunded and was shipped again, which combined was over $300. They claimed they filed a claim with FedEx, but never followed through. I threatened to call the credit card company and dispute the charge and they finally agreed they'd call me back...that was more than 6 months ago. Just ridiculously poor customer service. Go to LTI on the east side for printing and mounting needs! read more

Ordered 62 two foot by 3 foot prints for a project in Birmingham, AL. Samples of metal prints, plastic faced prints, and others were produced on request. A sample print was produced as requested. Quotes were fair. Shipping was handled seamlessly. Neil and his crew did a great job. They even rejected the quality of some of the prints and shipped them in a later shipment. read more

I had artwork scanned and they delivered quality results. Customer service is good - My only complaint is they can not guarantee the safety of artwork while it's in their possession. Stuff happens. I signed their waiver and voila! All good. It just made me a little nervous at first. I plan to have this artwork printed at a later date. Prices are high but if there's more than one aspect to a job they'll take that into consideration and possibly give a discount. I plan to followup with a review of the results of said printing. um, beware. they apparently hiked their prices up bigtime. 2 weeks ago, i picked up an 8x10 digital print and it cost a reasonable $12. i had them print another 8x10 and 12x15, and they wanted to charge me $36 for the 8x10 and $50 for the 12x15. according to the pricelist i'd been emailed, the 12x15 should have cost $36. not sure what's going on, but i'll probably go elsewhere to get my prints done now. read more

This lab ALWAYS makes a mistake with my film. My film either comes out scratched, processed incorrectly (despite the fact I explain twice, exactly what I want done), or my scans are inverted. About 7 out of 10 ten times, my film is compromised in a way that cannot be fixed. Generally, the staff is extremely pleasant, however there is one girl working there who has a fire-y temper and never takes responsibility for the labs mistakes - it's somehow always the customer's fault. I would not trust your film with this lab. read more

Had a very old black and white photo, only one remaining after others lost in fire, and these folks were able to copy it and it made an amazing gift for my husband's birthday. Glad that there are still some old established places like this still around. Quality work and helpful service. I was impressed with the service I received from Neil (one of the owners) and the quality of their prints. I wanted to print 3 large c-print photos for a gift. Neil helped me wade through my travel photos and select the best 3 (a huge help!) and also helped me to enhance them (I am a basic photoshop user at best) and talked me through the edits. Our studio ordered an acrylic-dibond mount from Baboo Digital that began to fall apart after only a few years on the wall. We communicated this to the people at Baboo who have done nothing to rectify this situation. Properly made acrylic-dibond mounts should not fall apart after just a few years on the wall. Curiously, after a previous review was posted here a bunch of reviews from Yelp users with very few reviews have popped up with RAVE reviews of this place, some even curiously mentioning the acrylic-dibond mounts in particular. Yelp also received feedback from the "Yelp community" saying our review wasn't detailed enough. It's unfortunate that this business does not care enough to stand by its customers, does not respond to customer complaints about shoddy workmanship and apparently would much rather game the reviews system. It seems to me that doing business this way requires so much more effort than standing by the quality and workmanship of your products. read more

I used to do a lot of business with Baboo. I stopped over a year ago due to the customer service I received on my last visit. I was having a lot of lamination done with them. Because I needed my print outs to be a certain way, I was printing them out myself as I needed to control the output. I asked Baboo if they would laminate my printouts, not having them print them out, and they assured me they had no problem with that. Without warning, one day they stopped. My order for lamination was being processed by the very helpful people out front, when all of a sudden, the owner comes out and tells them NOT to continue. I was on deadline since I was preparing my work for an upcoming show. He started ranting about how it was too much work for them and he didn't want to do it anymore. He refused to even listen to my needs or the fact that I was on deadline and all but threw me out of the shop. I even asked him to laminate this last bundle of prints and I even offered to pay more for the job, but he refused. I will NEVER go back. He was extremely unprofessional, rude and nasty. read more
