Fun little place. It always seems to be hipster and you will feel like the other patrons are disrupted by your presence. I once offered the whole place a pbr, the barkeep handed me a half rack box and I went around handing them out. Best part was that a few too many people turned their nose at my offer. Guess I should have offered them a plum floating in women's perfume served in a fedora. Next time I'll bring the plums! Yelp deleted my review for "privacy concerns"... fuck you yelp, this review is still true, and no one's privacy is violated. your two-dude Saturday night bartender duo FUUUUUUUUCKING SUUUUUUUUUCK.  fresh off a shit night at work, needing a quick drink, i pop in. falling into the queue, i wait. 3 people push in ahead "joining friends". i retained my calm, allowing these pushers-in to order their drinks.  finally, my turn arrives, i approach the bar. one bartender, glances at me and turns away the other, is engaged with the previous order. meanwhile, a handful of people shove in to the side of the bar (im AT the bar). bartender asks who's next, i raise my hand to indicate my turn. bartender proceeds to take order from woman in group that just squeezed in instead.  it's ridiculous. it's a TINY space, you should be able to keep track of customers. ive been a bartender in much larger venues and equally small locations, it's the same job, the same attention required.  needless to say, i left 1000x more upset than when i came in.  I'll be back because it's a solid bar in a town otherwise devoid of good bars, but not when Jim Jarmusch and Jason Mewes are working. read more

I think that eveyone that reviewed the baby bar and gave it 5 stars hit the nail on the head. At the end of the day just a special bar with super friendly people. Both Cory and Patty knew my name after my first drink ( I spent a few nights here when I was in Spokane) and allways smiled as I had them squeese citrus fruit for me all night. Live music, open mic and the lilac city punk compilation I used to skate around town to in the juke box. Just the extras I'm into. And when I left my credit card behind my last night in town, Patty remembered the hotel I was staying at and delivered it to the front desk. I love the Baby Bar! I don't know where they get the amazingly sweet grapefruit, but best fresh made Greyhound in the biz. I seldom order anything else. What I really like is the atmosphere - teeny and you end up meeting and talking to interesting people - not necessarily the place to go if you want a romantic quiet night out :) It's so friendly and the bartender is always really fun and talented and has marvelous suggestions! read more

Disclaimer: I do not own a single speed bike (or is it called a fixie? I'm not cool enough to know the difference), I don't not have a messenger bag, I do not have an ironic mustache, and I do not wear tight jeans. My review may be biased. Read at your own risk. I've been to Baby Bar several times, but only when friends want to go. Here is my general experience: The GOOD: the staff are nice and friendly, and the freshly squeezed juice for the cocktails is pretty tasty as well. The BAD: the place is tiny. I mean New York City studio apartment tiny. I have no idea how this thing passed fire code. I have only been able to sit down one time, and people are always standing shoulder to shoulder. There is a lot of "excuse me, can I squeeze behind you" going on. It is also extremely dark, which can be a little annoying when you want to see the people around you. This is why I can only give 2 stars. I totally get friendly and intimate, but this is place a little too intimate. The UGLY: This place is hipster central, and that completely ruins it for me. I can't deduct stars for this, because as the old saying goes, "to each his own." Its definitely the place to be if you are into the "lets go out and order a PBR at the bar then compare mustache waxes" scene. I do not (and probably will never) understand that scene. This place was not for me. If the selection were wider and the place was much bigger, it would be worthy of more stars. You at least have to try it once and see for yourself! read more

Tiny, yet significant. Not highbrow, not a dive, but not average. Dim lighting + a relaxed vibe encourages genuine interaction without trying to be romantic. The hand-squeezed margaritas come the way I have to doctor most others to be: more tart and more tequila. Like perfectly cooked bacon, it's SO much better when someone else does it for you. Easy going bartenders but aggressive pours. Last night, the jukebox played a lovely, laid back song. I tried to Shazaam it, but even the handy song-tracking app failed to recognize the band. And that's what Baby Bar is, a song that no one has heard of--or for a lack of better words--not mainstream. Dimly lit in red, it's a small dark bar that you enter from the side door of a burrito place. You don't have to wear tight jeans or dawn a handlebar mustache to appreciate that this place has character--from its drawn and mirrored walls, to its patrons. This place is random and crazy. Out in the main area, you can get a taco, sing karaoke or watch some crazy guy playing dj with a bunch of flashing lights. At first, I thought this was the extent of the bar and was contemplating leaving. Then i realized the baby bar was a small, hidden bar in the back of the place. This area was more fun and cool, I mean who doesn't like a hidden back room bar. What i liked most was bartenders that knew their products, local craft spirits that the bartenders actually wanted to serve versus cheap wells. I had a nice gin from a local craft distiller and I was happy. Hope to get my own craft liquor in there soon! read more

Top notch! It's very small, yes, but reminds me a lot of some places I've been to in the Netherlands. Great juke, $1 PBRs and grilled cheese, decent taps. Apparently they squeeze their own juice for mixed drinks, nice touch. Friendly crowd, skews sorta hipster without the elitist douchebaggery you'd find in a bigger city. I love this place. It's very small, very dark, they serve up strong drinks with fresh squeezed fruit juice, and they have one of the coolest juke box selections ever. I went here with 2 of my friends. Unfortunately, one bad bartender ruined my first visit here. Nice bartender who makes bad drinks is still a bad bartender. I asked for a glass of cabernet and they didn't have any. What I was served was unknown, it was a red wine, tasted like something you'd drink at Church with communion. My friends had bad drinks too. Right next to the Neato Burrito is one of your more smaller bars in town. The Baby Bar. Very cozy especially on weekend nights! Whatever you want, the bartender is always ready when called upon. Also, has probably the only jukebox in town that features the Dead Boys, Dead Kennedys, and Black Flag, (No Nickelback thank goodness!) It does get a little crowded in there but after a few drinks it won't matter. You'll be in great company! read more

If it hadn't been for the Yelp reviews, I probably wouldn't have ventured into the Baby Bar. I'm glad i did because it's very well hidden. I was surprised how small the place was, but it wasn't too crowded (this was around 9:00 on a Saturday night). I was sitting at the bar drinking a local brew and noticed everyone was ordering a Greyhound. I thought "that looks like a girly-looking drink" because it was pink and was basically grapefruit juice and vodka, but a lot of dudes were ordering it and drinking it so i decided to give it a try. The cool thing was that the grapefruit was squeezed at the bar so it was amazingly fresh. I had a good time here and I'd go back. read more

Totally a 'hipster' bar but I love it nonetheless. Very tiny, so seats are limited and it can become crowded quickly into the evenings.

This is one of my favorite bars in Spokane and that is due to the fact that I found Sessions, which has become one of my favorite beers of all time. If you are there, you have to check it out. I went to this bar after seeing it on Drinking Made Easy. We got to the bar at about 10pm. It was very full which I thought was a good sign. We worked our way to the back bar which I noticed was the bar featured on the TV show. We ordered a drink from a not so friendly female bartender. We didn't necesarily fit in with the crowd but it seemed to bother her more than it did us. I asked her if this was the part of the bar the TV show was filmed in and she said "YUP." I asked her if many people come there and ask about the TV show or if it had done more for buisiness....She just said "Not Really." Well not very friendly! We finished our first drink and I noticed that there was an advertisment for a "Special drink" on the wall. I asked her what was in the "Special Drink" She said "Anything you want." I was like????? She didn't care to explain and then she said "You should have a water." I was like???? I had had 3 beers to that point in the night and wasn't about to be done drinking. So we just left to go somewhere else. It was dumb. I would think twice before going there. I think it's for townie's only!! read more
