We've been incredibly happy with our purchases from Baby Boudoir in New Bedford! Over the past five years, we've bought two complete children's bedroom sets, including cribs and all the necessary supplies. One set has been in use for five years, and has transitioned into a full bed for our kiddo, and the other for a year and a half, and both still look absolutely brand new. The quality is outstanding! Not only is the furniture durable and beautiful, but the service we received was also exceptional. Plus, the prices were surprisingly low for such high-quality items. Go see Carol at the Outlet on Conduit St! She was so helpful, friendly, and made sure all of our questions were answered. She was not pushy and was not your "typical" sales woman. We ordered a beautiful crib for our little girl and are very pleased with our purchase. On the other hand, the woman at the small store front did not have any customer service. We had not even been in the small store 3 minutes when we were yelled at to make sure we didn't hit anything with our small stroller. It was almost night and day between the experience we had. We have bought two sets from Baby Boudoir and had nothing but excellent service. Most recently we converted my youngest into her full size bed. There were some pieces missing from the conversion kit that we purchased 4 years ago that didn't line up. I am a returning customer of Baby Boudoir and have sent many of my coworkers and friends to this establishment in the past. I recently traveled to Baby Boudoir with my young child and expecting wife to make a furniture purchase and must report that I am extremely disappointed with my experience. When my family and I arrived, we were greeted by the only female employee that I believe was working. The female asked if we were new or returning customers and we informed her that we we were returning. She asked if we knew "how things worked" and she attempted to explain what she passed off as store policies- explaining how clearance worked and sale items. My wife questioned something and I immediately detected a negative attitude from the female employee. She explained the store policy of not splitting up collections on clearance. My wife began to feel uncomfortable and attempted to go upstairs. The employee repeated herself again, this time as though she was blatantly talking down to my wife and I. I tried to ease the tension of the situation and jokingly said to the employee, "cash talks" when she explained the policy for the third time about splitting clearance collections. She then told me "No, it doesn't not here". At this point, I told this employee that I would not engage in conversation anymore and her response was "I'm not fighting, I'm telling you how it is". After this response from their employee, I I informed her that I am a repeat customer and I would be taking my money elsewhere. Her response to me was "Good we don't want it". I then told her I would spend it elsewhere and would bring my receipt (from a competitor) in for the owner to see that a sale walked away. She said "good spend it somewhere else". I then realized I could no longer keep my composure and walked out of the store. While leaving, I was taunted by the employee to turn around and continue the exchange. My family and I pride ourselves on attempting to shop locally. The number one difference between shopping locally versus online or at big box stores is typically service. My experience today did not support this belief and I will no longer recommend this business to anyone and no longer be a returning customer read more

We're expecting and after reading great reviews about this store in the Baby Bargains book, I decided to check on Yelp for some additional feedback. Even with the contrary feedback from the two sources I was using, we decided to make the drive to New Bedford to look for some furniture for our impending arrival. The store and the outlet are essentially down the street from one another - the store is small - we in fact drove by it our first time down the road. The outlet is in an old mill and has two floors of merchandise to look at. In the outlet, if something is a discontinued/last available then it is only available in the finish you see, otherwise there is some selection with other items. We had an excellent experience in both stores - the staff were knowledgeable and helpful but also left us alone so we could chat as well as inspect everything ourselves. It was our first outing to look for furniture and we fell in love with something in the main store and bought it. I'd recommend this store to friends for sure. read more

Totally DISHONEST! The owner and the sales associate are terrible. Do not by from them! The wife and I were looking for a Crib set for our Newborn ( June 2014) so we did a search on line and found Baby Boudoir. We went to there location in New Bedford, which is in a old mill, they had plenty of crib sets and most of them were on "Sale" so we finally picked out a complete crib set that was originally $3000 but on "Sale" for $2000, we thought ok whats the catch?? There has to be a catch right! Do we speak to the owner I think his name was Jim, short fellow smells of cigarettes the wife Nd I ask him what is the deal with this set. He says well the manufacturer went out of business and I bought all of there inventory the issue is the crib does not have the rails to turn it into a full size bed. BUT jim replies, if you really like this I will get you the rails from another manufacturer free of charge. He said we have plenty of time so we should not worry. WOW jim thanks alot!!! ( I should have known to get it in writing! So 2 months ago I ask the wife whats going on with the rails? She said she will call Baby Boudoir, she left 2 messages and did not receive a call back. So I call thrm and spoke to the sales associate ( theres 2 of them and they are both Dishonest! I explain the situation to her and she says well I can order them but there will be a charge????? I said no, sorry Jim said they were free because it should have come with the bed, and not to worry about it last year! Nope we had to pay, I put a deposit down so she could atleast order it because it takes 10 weeks ??? So I said to the eife when they come in I will talk to jim ( the owner) and I am sure he will not charge us! Why do I trust people?? Is it me or most businesses do not appreciate the customer and more??? So the wife calls them on Monday to get a update and they say oh it just came in! WOW our lucky day again??? So you have to schedule a day in advance to pick up the rails. We scheduled for today ( friday) so I go down to Baby Boudoir in New Bedford, MA and who do I see Jim. I said excuse me but I am not sure if you remember me but we bought a crib set that you did not have the cribs do to the manufacturing closing, and you told my wife and I it would be free. Jim says no no no, nothing is free and that me and my wife must have misunderstood, I replied maybe I did but not my wife! He says look the rsils are originally $259 we are only going to charge you $140??? Oh really Jim you are such a Great Business man! Well he did charge us a additional $140 for the rails. My advise STAY AWAY from this place, they are terrible!!! Better off buying from a legitimate company like Toys R Us where you will not have issues like this! Compared to other stores their prices are much lower since they have some discounted sets to choose from. Not happy with the delivery process! When we purchased the nursery set we were told it could be delivered soon then were asked to wait several weeks because we have to wait until they are in our area. I can understand this if it was free delivery but not when I'm paying for delivery. Especially when the item is in stock. When the furniture came a piece was broken and they had to take back one of the pieces of furniture. When I calle to see when the piece would be delivered I was given the same response about waiting until they are in my area. Maybe a week, maybe three?!... Greatly frustrating. Over priced and customer service is poor. If you are open for business as the sign states... why do you need to ring a buzzer to be let in and have the door locked behind you? Hours are extremely limited and inconvenient to anyone with a full time JOB! I would not reccomend shopping at this store. Its just not worth the hassle or the money. I was recommended this store from a friend who had a good experience. However her furniture was in stock. If you are looking to buy a set- make sure it is in stock. Do not place an order that requires them to use a manufacturer in Vietnam. DO NOT TRUST the 10-12 week delivery. It will not be in on time. They DO NOT CARE about your timeline as an expecting family, nor do they care about helping you out. I understand not being "compensated" however, as a business owner that sells baby furniture to expecting families, THE LEAST you could do is deliver and set up free of charge. When the furniture arrives at 20 weeks and the baby is already born, the last thing you want to be doing is getting and setting up the furniture. We ordered Jan 2 and still have not received our furniture (may 14) I'm disgusted with the customer service and overall policies. I literally have 11 friends that are pregnant in my life right now. NONE of them will be shopping at this establishment. I hope this review helps people! Pay the few extra bucks at a babies r us or buybuybaby - the piece of mind is worth it. read more

Get furniture from other retailer.. Customer service experience I had over a malfunctioning draw was horrible. The owner of the store doesn't listen and doesn't care if your furniture isn't what it is supposed to be.. Once they have your money they don't care about you. The furniture took over 10 weeks to come in (which is fine). But after we had it and realized something was wrong it took over 3 weeks to just get someone on the phone to come look at the draw. I explained how upset I was that it was taking this long just to get someone to call and set up a date to come LOOK at the draw. The owner told me I was being unreasonable and didn't care AT ALL. The furniture took so long to come in I feared that if we needed a new piece it would take another 10 to 12 weeks from the time they even just came to look at it. Add another month onto that just to get them to come look at it. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and finally got a phone call. I thought I was being great by supporting a small local business but never EVER again will I buy or recommend anyone to buy furniture from them. If I wanted an Ikea experience I would have bought my furniture from there. The furniture I bought was $2000.00. It's not cheap furniture but the experience I had with them was extremely cheap. With a baby due in 3 weeks this is the last thing I want to be worrying about. The main point is that this guy didn't listen to my needs as a consumer and refused to take me serious. Get your furniture else where.. He's not the only one who carries it. My sister who lives in VA got her's on a web site for the same amount with delivery also. read more

We have shopped at Baby Boudior once and it will be the last time. My husband and I ordered a comfy rocking/glider chair for our baby's nursery. We were told 4-6 weeks it would be in. 7 weeks go by with no phone call from anyone at Baby Boudior. I call to ask what was going on and got nasty attitude from one of the employees. She didnt apologize and had no answers for us. Finally when i threaten to call daily she tells me she'll look into it. I get a call 4 days later saying the manufacturer couldn't make our chair cause they stopped making the fabric we choose. What!? We choose gray...not some crazy ass color. Then she sd they would begin to make the chair once tue fabric was all set. I call a week later to again ask where our chair is and this time a gentleman gave me nasty attitude and no apologies. Finally a month later we pick up our chair. No apologies. No perks like 'let us deliver this to your house since it took so long'. We were planning on buying parts that went along with our crib there but after this experience we didnt. The employees were nasty. Yes it wasnt their fault but they did not have good customer service skills. The chair was $$$ so service should have been much better. Its to bad because we were going to by our chair at Target/Walmart but wanted to give our money to a local shop. Never again with these guys. Do yourself a favor...go to Target or Babies R Us! read more

They do have a great selection. But be sure you don't ask an my questions before they are done with their little speech. The customer service at the outlet is so poor and unprofessional! Supposively you are supposed to be able to order anything that does not say clearance or blowout, but that was not the case on my most recent visit. The set I wanted to purchase is no longer available but that was not marked on any of the signage. When asked when they would know more I was not given a definitive answer saying my boss has to look into it. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time going there, I know I will never recommend this place to anyone else again! read more

HORRIBLE!!!! My boyfriend and I went here to place our set on layaway in Sept. 2013 when we found out we were expecting a baby girl in Feb 2014. Shortly after I lost both of my jobs and his hours got cut in half so we asked to take the set off of layaway but were told they don't do refunds which we were not told in the beginning. We struggled to pay off the set but thankfully for Christmas my family paid it off for us as a gift and it was set to be picked up the following Saturday after Christmas. When we went to get the set at the warehouse one of the employees told myself and my father that the warehouse had been broken into and that our changing table was one of the items stolen so they needed to reorder it and that they would deliver it to us at no charge when it came in, about 2 weeks from then. We took the rest of the set home in anticipation that the changing table would be there shortly. Two and a half weeks went by with no phone call so I called them. They said they had it and to come down to get it because there were no deliveries in our area for "months" so they had no idea when they would be able to get it to us and they weren't making a special trip just for our item. We went down to get it and was immediately given an attitude about picking it up because they were unloading a shipment at that given moment and asked us to come back later in the day. I said "no" and that I set up the pick up for the time we were there and that I wanted my changing table and the whole reason why it was being picked up separate was because it had been stolen to begin with. I was then called a liar by the SAME employee that had told myself and my father that it had been stolen and that it was in the warehouse all along they just couldn't find it. After insisting I get the changing table right then and there, we got it home and unwrapped to find the back of it all smashed with holes so we brought it back down to New Bedford and talked to the owner who then proceeded to tell us that "shit happens" and it was "just the backing so its not that big of a deal". They said that they would just order a new back, it would be in in 2 weeks and to take the changing table anyways. Two weeks went by with no word so I called them up and come to find out it never made it on the truck but it would be at the warehouse in another 2-3 weeks. So I emailed them last night and low and behold, the piece came in but the guy FORGOT IT AT THE PARTS PLACE AND THAT IT WOULD BE IN LATER THIS WEEK!!!!! Are you frigging kidding me?!?!?! I'm due in 6 days and my changing table is still full of holes. For a set that cost $2,200.00, we shouldn't be getting told "shit happens" and "its no big deal." I can only imagine what excuse we will get when I contact them later this week about it. I would buy a 'forever' crib again, just definitely not from Baby Boudoir! Disappointing and dissatisfying. Overall showroom footprint was very large between the two sites, allowing for a nice overview of available choices. Many options to choose from, but not organized by any particular criteria. The area was extremely frightening; we stopped at a Dunkin' Donuts for a coffee 600 yards from the store after shopping and thought we were going to be mugged. Prices were not impressively competitive. Staff was helpful at the main store, but borderline incompetent at the outlet store. We entered having done some research, knowing prices and prepared to make a substantial purchase given that we're expecting multiples. A staff member called the owner to find out what additional offers may be available for purchasing multiple packages. They proceeded to make fun of the fact we were expecting multiples and came back with no information. Called back the next day with a specific request of makes, models and colors to ask for a best offer for over 10 pieces of furniture. The owner didn't respond to his/her staff members and didn't return a response for our request for days. read more

Should be less than a star. Literally have had the worst experience with this company. The fact they allow the manager to work with expectant mothers is heartbreaking. She is rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. We were misled from the beginning by staff telling us a chair would be in stock and it wasn't. Then about six mistakes and lies later, and a whole lot of time and hassle, the chair finally is delivered after weeks, and there are no screws. The delivery people leave us with a chair that can't be used. I call - no apologies - only the suggestion that the screws could be sent to us the following week, and we can put it together ourselves. Yet, I paid $100 extra for a complete chair to be delivered and set up and had to rearrange my schedule for it??? We have waited all this time for a product that we can't even use. They also damaged it by ripping off the warranty tags and just leaving them on my daughter's floor. The manager won't even let us speak to the owner or give us his contact information (what kind of owner won't speak to a horrified customer), but tells us that he can offer no refund or compensation discount of any kind. I'm contacting the BBB and my lawyer first thing next week. Seriously beware - sketchy, sketchy, sketchy business practices! read more
