This is a super cute gluten free bakery right in the heart of downtown Wheaton. I heard about their pre-order for Paczki Day and saw that they were offering four unique flavors. I ordered a Dubai Chocolate Pistachio and a Churro Blueberry. Both were delicious gluten free donuts but I don't think they resemble a traditional paczki. Still a fun way to celebrate Fat Tuesday. So excited to find this place and it's 100% GF. They open at 11am and by 12pm on a Thursday they were already sold out of donuts. The lady indicated to call ahead to order donuts since they do sell out fast. It's a small bakery but has a lot of good options. We grabbed brioche bread and a chocolate walnut biscotti. First time coming here, this was a great, gluten free bakery with many vegan options as well. We tried one of their vegan s'mores brownies and it was absolutely delicious, thankfully they had some sparkling water for sale too. Staff here was absolutely friendly and helpful in giving us options for what we wanted to get. Quiet store too with not alot of traffic, so lines shouldn't ever be too long. The young woman behind the counter was super helpful in answering all my questions and pointing me toward some of the crowd favorites like the traditional biscotti, which I scooped up right away for my mother in law. I was having a really lousy day. My gem of a husband told me to check the door for a delivery. He had cookies and a brownie sent to me from sweet Natalie's/baby doll bakery!! #keeper. The cookies were salted chocolate chip. They felt like they weighed about a half pound each (comes as two when you order). The cookie, while loaded with chocolate was not overly sweet (in a good way!!) and then the sea salt on top was just an amazing addition. Salted caramel better watch out... these cookies are coming for ya! The cookies are large and thick. Both cookies took me about 5 days to eat. You can definitely make it last while still satisfying a sweet craving. The brownie was fudgy AF. it was supposed to be a peanut butter brownie combo and it smelled of peanut butter but the taste wasn't super obvious to me. They were still delicious none the less. I have not had a good experience here at all. The mini cupcakes on both occasions were dried out, stale, and hard as a rock. Same issue with other sweets that we've purchased here. On the upside, it inspired me to take some gluten-free baking classes, so I just make everything myself now, which I realize not everyone has the time or space to do. I used to accept that GF bakery items were just never going to be as ones made with wheat flour, so I'd settle for what was available locally and online. But after I began baking my own, it actually made me kind of angry that there's bakeries like this. There's just no reason to be serving up old, dried up sub-par products, when it doesn't take a rocket scientist to bake gf items with great taste and texture. Just feels like places like this are taking advantage of the gf community, charging insane prices for garbage because we have such limited options. read more

It more recently came under new ownership and Nicole, the new owner, is outgoing and fun, and you can really see the effort she pours into her business. I think in the realm of "Gluten-Free" items the prices are reasonable for the portions you get. I almost always split something - be it a cupcake, brownie bar, or cookie... the portions are very decent. Reading some of the negative reviews it's clear that everyone's taste is different, but obviously there's no accounting for taste, huh? Flowers are overrated for Mother's Day. Gluten-free snacks is where it's at. I don't live in Wheaton anymore, but my parents do. I brought my parents here on a whim. My mother is GF and I've been a vegan for years. The selection is super limited and it's definitely a one-woman show. Cute. The prices are very expensive. That's the first. I think she's riding the health train and doubling the prices 'just because'. Second, I didn't think the taste warranted the price. I'm obsessed with this bakery! Me and my family are dairy free so it's super awesome we have options are far as baked goods are concerned. I was so sad to see they moved from their Geneva location, but I will happily make the drive to Wheaton. Their lavender lemon, and pomegranate cupcakes are my personal faves! Reading some of these negative reviews makes me sad. I have frequented Sweet Natalie's several times, and each time I have received nothing but excellence customer service. One time in particular I was stuck in traffic, and knew I wasn't going to get to the bakery in time. Sweet Natalie's is a welcome addition to the west suburbs and is the only place around to get vegan baked goods. The next nearest spot would be somewhere in Chicago proper, about 45 miles away. They have half a dozen labeled vegan options. I got the chocolate chip oat bar ($4.25), a chocolate-peanut butter cupcake ($3.75) and a dark chocolate-sea salt cookie ($3.75). I liked the oat bar, which was fresh, moist and rich. Dates served as the primary sweetener, which is fine, but they weren't well-integrated into the bar, with stray date strands all over the place. More mixing would have been better. The dark chocolate cookie was great---soft and not too sweet. No complaints. The chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting was extremely moist. That said, I found the peanut butter frosting to be overly sweet (sugary, really). Sweet Natalie's is a bakery, so there isn't anywhere to sit inside. That said, across the street is the Coffee Drop Shop, where you can get a gourmet cup of coffee or tea. read more

Since new ownership, I am obsessed with this GF bakery! Cookies, breads, snacks and don't even get me started with the apple slices! I also love it that they support other GF savory suppliers, like the Italian food from Da Luciano's and the Pierogi from Pampered Dough. I always pick up something savory and something sweet. Of course it costs more than a traditional bakery, but the GF ingredients always cost more. If you eat GF, you already know this and expect it. Please don't go away! Was there today to purchase a strawberry paczki, after seeing their FB post with a picture of a strawberry one. It had cream and fresh strawberries and was being sold Monday night, as a pre-sale to Fat Tuesday. I called on Tuesday morning, to see if they had any left. Called around 10:15 am and spoke with a younger sounding woman and asked if I could make a phone order of just one strawberry. She said no, not for just one but that there were plenty of strawberry paczki available and putting one on hold would be unnecessary. Based on that info, I held off on going to the shop until 2:15 pm. I walked in and asked for a strawberry paczki, which was behind the counter in a closed, large box. As she was about to box the item, I asked about the whipped cream and strawberry. The owner, who was a few feet away helping another guest, announced, "We are out". No sorry, no friendly tone. In fact, she was offputting and appeared and sounded annoyed. So I offered that I had called and asked about the pictured strawberry and cream paczki and that I was assured there was PLENTY. Again, the owner snapped, "We are out". Okay. The guest she was helping appeared to me to be startled and had difficulty finishing her request with the owner, after that rude "announcement". Because I have a celiac daughter and had told her that I was planning to get this for her today AND that I called ahead ever, I was rather disappointed. What I got was a greasily fried doughnut with a few teaspoons of strawberry preserve filling and barely enough powdered sugar to be mentioned here. And the $4.57 charge to my credit card felt like a slap in the face. Walked a few steps to Hahn's Bakery to get my son a wheat-based paczki and was blown away by the super sweet and friendly counter help. I got a fresh strawberry and cream filled paczki that was exactly as one would expect. It is unfortunate that the owner of SNGFB has not mastered marketing and friendly service. I posted this review on FB and noticed ANOTHER customer had left a very similar complaint about what was being advertised on the FB page (strawberry and cream) and what she was offered when she went to the bakery. Within 10 minutes of my review, Sweet Natalie's deleted my comments and the other customer's comments. No apologies or even a change to the picture, in an effort to eliminate confusion. In fact, this was yesterday that the other customer went to the store. So, the shop has a Monday presale, posts a picture advertising strawberry paczkis and within the same few hours, they post on FB that they will have all varieties on Tuesday morning? And then to be rude to paying customers when questioned? Taking my money to Hinsdale. read more
