Did a bit of running around and on the way home stopped at a gluten free bakery in Geneva called Sweet Natalie's. Met the owner, Ilene and one of her merry crew. My celiac son was in heaven! Excited about Free sample Saturdays! Picked up a "Twix", oatmeal creme pies, a couple of monster sized peanut butter cookies, a mini apple pie and hamburger buns. So yum! A bakery that sells goods from multiple local bakers, including a gluten free bakery. I can only comment on the gluten free products...the Salted Carmel Cupcakes are the MOST AMAZING CUPCAKES ever! They are pretty pricey at $4 each, (why must gluten free ALWAYS cost so much?) but, sooooo good. I do not usually eat frosting, but both the frosting and the cupcake are divine. read more

I went in here to get a dessert for my girlfriend who has celiacs and the owner and her daughter were very kind and knowledgeable about all of their products. They had a wide selection that made it difficult for me (not a sweet eater) to choose from. I couldn't make up my mind and ended up switching my choice at the last minute because they were out of my girlfriends favorite, lemon bars. After finally deciding between the two different desserts the owner was nice enough to send me home with one of the other desserts I almost chose. My girlfriend loved both of the desserts very much and all I've ever heard her say about this place is great things! read more

I went in on a Monday morning to see if I could get an order of 6-12 cupcakes for the following week. In a nutshell I was told by the owner who was sitting at a table that special orders were cut off but that I could come in early that Saturday and pick from what they had out then freeze them for my party. I asked what flavors they had and instead of writing them down she rattled them off very quickly and I even said "oh that's a lot to remember I should write this down" but still no volunteer to do it for me. I felt like I was being a huge burden even though the place was empty. And once I got to thinking about it I thought why couldn't she make the ones I wanted and set them aside in the freezer for me?!?! On my way out I had to say have a good day because I didn't even get a thanks for coming or anything. I felt very slighted because I wasn't placing a huge order. Well guess what? I won't be placing any order at all, EVER! Nor will I recommend this place. Their bedside manner is horrible and I've never felt SO uncomfortable. read more

The owner has been so rude to me on so many occasions that I'm giving up on this place. I will go to Two Wild Seeds in St. Charles instead. This place is a bakery like no other! These gluten free breads are the closest to regular breads that I've ever had! The sweet treats are so delicious! No one would ever guess the cupcakes, cookies and brownies are gluten free but everything is safe to eat! Amazing! read more

What a find! My daughter and I are both gluten-free. Since she's young, I'm trying to keep the experience from feeling like deprivation. You will feel anything but deprived at Natalie's! We sampled four different deserts, and they were all wonderful! Flavor. Texture. A definite must for anyone looking for gluten free options. I wasn't super happy with the lemon pie I purchased for Easter and, after leaving my review of the pie, the owner personally contacted me to make sure I was satisfied. The only gluten-free deal in town! Expect chaotic hours and slightly rude service. Only place for gluten free Fat Tuesday and Valentine's treats. Beware does not take orders ahead for Fat Tuesday paczkis. Facebook doesn't follow and last minute updates to the schedule may not get to you and you may find them sold out after a long wait or drive. Not open 2 customer friendly options and no respect whatsoever for the busy schedules of people whose jobs pay for the overpriced grub. As a family full of celiacs, we are over a barrel and get taken advantage of here too. If you can get the food though it's pretty awesome and very pricey. read more

I've been a shopper at SN before and appreciate their gluten free options. I recently purchased a cake from them - 6in, happy birthday design, raspberry filling. It cost me $38. I have never been so disappointed. The cake was for my moms birthday and who is recently gluten free (I have Celiac so was happy to show my mom the yummy options that still exist!). I wanted this to be a special bday for her so went ahead and ordered this rather expensive cake.... So yeah... It looked like a cake I could have bought from Jewel (except obviously the GF part). There was just white ribbon trim at the top and bottom of the cake. No fresh raspberries or flowers or design (which I paid for). Just a plain white cake with cursive happy birthday. Ok. Well not happy about that but then we ate the cake itself. Now I know it's difficult to get the moistness in a GF cake and have struggled myself, but if I'm paying a baker to make this at an increased price I expect it to be better than what I could make. Nope it was dry. I did call and notified SN of my experience and spoke to the baker who said she would offer me $10 off my next cake. My question is why would I order another cake from her? And pay what - $28 for the same thing? Thank you as I did appreciate the reach out but no thanks. Honestly, I was truly disappointed and for the next special occasion I need a custom order - I will not be going back. read more

Some gluten free mama friends recommended this place so I thought I'd check it out since I enjoy a sweet treat now and then. Was pleasantly suprised and would have had no idea that my pastries were GF. All were super tasty, salted caramel cupcake, apple spice cupcake, and an amazing lemon bar. Prices were reasonable ($2.50-4 range) and the baker was really nice and accommodating (let me come in before opening time when I called for their hours). Their natural salted caramel coffee sweetner was devine too and I want to either go back to buy some or get the name to buy it somewhere else if not for sale. Lots of dairy free, egg free, peanut free, and gluten free options, but a great spot even if you don't have food allergies. read more

Bought my kids 5 of their rice krispie bars at $4.95 each. Yep, over $25 with tax for 5 rice krispie treats for kids. Asked if they made them; was told they make them at their Sweet Natalie's kitchen in Antioch, IL. Each of my kids took literally 1 bite and said "yuck!"-making faces. These things were hard as rocks--totally stale. If kids won't eat rice krispie treats--you know there is a problem! So back to Sweet Natalie's store front we went. We asked to return them, showing literally 1 bite taken from each. I could see if 1 child didn't like it, or even maybe 2? But all 5? Then it's a problem with the product! The 2 ladies working there could have cared less! They told me "no returns!". Wouldn't even exchange them for a different product. Then she proceeded to make excuses that the product is made by a "vendor"-not by them, so they "couldn't" refund. Interesting they have no problem taking my money for garbage, but they absolutely cared less that I had sad kids who didn't want to eat stale, rotten rice krispie bars that who knows how long were sitting on their display. The workers aren't welcoming, nice or friendly--with neighboring coffee/pastry shops that offer a variety of gluten free items, I have not clue how Sweet Natalie's is in business. We walked less than a block down the street after the rude interaction from where Sweet Natalie's told us tough luck--and had smoothies & treats, coffee and tea for my husband and I for $31! Sweet Natalies--customer service means a lot and for $25 in garbage you sold--and told us we're stuck with which were clearly rotten--you've now lost our repeat business. We now won't come back! Probably not worth just standing by your product for a family of 8 where 6 of us have to be gluten free. My two cents: Avoid Sweet Natalie's & head to the relaxing, adorable shop down the street where you'll get way more for your money and have nicer people who will gladly stand behind their menu. read more

I had to place a last-minute order for 3 dozen gluten free cookies, and Katie made it seem like no big deal. Not only did she fulfill the order within one day, but the cookies looked and tasted incredible! Gluten free baked goods are difficult to make and there aren't many options around this area. It is great to know that Sweet Natalie's is customer focused on top of providing really yummy gluten free options. I highly recommend this place!! read more

I used to really like this place, but the quality seems to have gone downhill in the past couple of months. Came in on a saturday and it smelled really bad ... almost like garbage ?!? Super unappetizing! I got some of my "usual" faves (French silk pie, twix bar, peanut butter cookie) and they were good, but whoever was working the counter was totally pushing their new "Paleo" stuff. I tried an almond butter ball - wasn't very impressed. Also, the woman at the front said the paleo was nut-free, but that the cheesecakes were made with nuts??? Confused. I am not gluten free, I don't have a sweet tooth, and I'm not a frequent bread eater, so when I do have sweets and bread they really have to be good for me to be bowled over. This place delivers! They had samplers out when I was there, and everything I tried, I loved (and bought.) :) I have a gluten-free friend who also often eats vegan, and I got her the vegan/gluten free bread which she agrees is great. It doesn't fall apart like many gluten-free breads, and it's tasty; really nice. The deep-dish chocolate chip cookie (not vegan, but gluten free) is also delicious, and was a big hit with our families. Molasses cookie, oatmeal sandwich cookie, cupcakes...super good. If you are gluten free this is a must-try place. If you are also vegan, even better, they have good stuff for you, too. Even if you are not either (like me), I'd still say try it. It's all very good compared against all baked goods. Very friendly folks there too. I'd highly recommend! read more
