When looking for a vet for our new french bulldog, we asked for recommendations. Many people said wonderful things about Twins Veterinary, but unfortunately when I called they had no availability for months. I wound up getting an appointment here at Babylon Animal Hospital. During her first visit she got shots and a thorough examination. The very kind vet and vet tech were very patient, answering all of my questions and giving advice. We got her chipped, and they trimmed her nails free of charge. They handled her with care and she did not yelp or cry once, during shots, nail clipping, or having the chip put in. Right now our pup is there getting spayed. She has to stay the night, which is so tough for us.. the office told me when I could call to check in, and when i did, they gushed about how sweet she is and how much they were enjoying her. We cannot wait to pick her up tomorrow but they've made me feel comfortable that she's in good hands! read more

DISGUSTING!!! While I felt Dr Kirshbaum was helpful and honest. His reception/office staff is absolutely one of the worst. And unfortunately when you call the office and/or need something, that is who you have to deal with. Four phone calls from another Dr's office who is a specialist waiting for the X-rays and nothing. For an animal that needed emergency surgery that Dr Kirshbaum was not able to perform. When they finally sent them over, they emailed them in a way that was useless and unreadable. This may be the only veterinary practice that I have ever been able to give a good review to consistently. They have qualified caring people. Not just the primary doctor but also associates. The techs are strong and capable. As a team this practice really puts your pet in safer hands then most. Veterinary care is expensive but they are reasonable comparatively for surgeries and capable. Dr. Liguori could clearly qualify as a human surgeon / doctor. He and the staff I have met and recommended friends to have always been capable and compassionate. Too few good places. We were appalled when we received this 669 dollar estimate from Babylon Animal Hospital for our 7 month old kitten who was already a patient at the practice. Our first and only visit there, we were pressured to leave our cat to be neutered that day. We didn't feel comfortable leaving him without researching the office more and so we decided to call back for an estimate. We had to call three times before it was emailed to us. Due to COVID-19, it has been very hard to get pets spayed/neutered. Knowing how hard it's been they would rather attempt to extort us than keep us as long term customers. Let me start by saying that I don't often write reviews but I feel like this one was necessary as I would do anything for my dog (my 93 pound pitbull who thinks that she is a lap dog). I want to personally thank Dr. Kirshbaum and the staff at Babylon Animal Hospital, you are the reason that my dog is not only here today but thriving! Dr. Kirshbaum first diagnosed my dog with a type of skin cancer on her back at 3 years old but he was able to surgically remove it and she was cancer free! Then at 9 years old Dr. Kirshbaum diagnosed a new/different type of cancer but this time it was on her leg, once again he was able to surgically remove it and get rid of all of the cancer. When she turned 11 this past year during a check up he found a small growth that turned out to be a new/different type of cancer again except this time on her stomach. After Dr. Kirshbaum completed surgery he was able to remove all of the cancer and at 11 years old my baby was cancer free again! Then more recently she had stopped doing stairs and of course Dr. Kirshbaum knew exactly what to do. After we spoke he told me he had a new injection to help with arthritis and boy was he right. Not only is my dog doing stairs again but she is a puppy again! I live in Syosset and drive past many veterinary hospitals to get to Babylon Animal Hospital - it's well worth the trip. The staff is friendly and efficient, and my cat get's exceptional care and is treated with love and kindness. In addition, it is a full service clinic, which is why necessary tests like my cat's x-rays and ultrasound could be done on-site. Dr. Kirshbaum is a terrific diagnostician, providing thoughtful analysis and treatment, and, in a recent visit, he had a top-notch ultrasound specialist in to perform that test. I've taken pets to a lot of vets at a number of hospitals, and this is clearly the best place to go. read more

I went into the office for medications for my sick cat and left a message for Dr. Mercurio requesting a call during the week. I called again this morning. I besides the original question a had others. I notice that Koolkat seemeed to be having difficulty with the food when he did attempt to eat. I order a past consistency cat treat to see if he ate it. Slowly but he did eat. I wanted to know if during the exam if he looked in Kool Kats mouth to see if there was anything going on with the mouth..I wanted to know if his thyroid felt swollen. I wanted to know if I should bring him in. I waited all day. Kept both my cell and the land line in my pocket (I was spending a lot of time on the floor in the closet making sure Koolkat ate. If I had to get up out of that position it would not be quick enough to get to the phone. I did not want to miss the call. I waited all day. I did not get to take a shower because again I did not want to miss the call. I was feeling very itchy around 4PM and decided to call to ask when I might expect the call from Dr. Mercurio. I got a tape stating they were closed....it did not take messages. I live on the North Shore and the cost of pet care is so astronomical that I had to forgo simple treatments. It's really a pleasure to have affordable care at this facility. It means the difference of having a healthy pet or one that you must sacrifice their care because of high costs. My concerns are always answered in a caring manner. When I'm sitting in the waiting room the attitudes from the other pet parents is so positive because they know their pets are getting the best possible care. This vet insisted on costly knee surgery for my dog the day after his injury. He was very adamant that we scheduled surgery that day. We took him to another doctor for a second opinion who advised that we wait 3-4 weeks and my dog made a 100% recovery. I would strongly caution anyone against using this vet. read more

If I could give you 0 stars, I would. My experience was not a recent one but it left me so bitter, I have to tell my story. I took my dog who suffered from a malabsorption problem. I became suspicious after he offered treatments which didn't make sense. One of the treatments was an external spray to make my dogs coat shinier, really? I ran from there as fast as I could. On another occasion, I brought in a seagull in distress. I came across it at the nearby Boston Market. I only went to The Babylon Animal Hospital because it was literally across the street. The place was full, and the receptionist coldly charged me over $100. It wildlife!!!!! Do you people have any decency? I once again ran out of that greedy s**t h**e and the bird was euthanized by the animal hospital in Amityville. Oh, by the way, free of charge. The seagull wasn't a pet, it was wildlife!!!!!! So, with that said, pet owners, please educate yourselves before you become victims at your pets expense. Now that I told my story, I can move on. read more

Fairly certain this animal hospital is to blame for the death of my cat, Tabitha. They diagnosed her with kidney disease and put her on medicine, and then her kidneys failed and another vet had to put her to sleep. I only wish that Yelp or other online reviews existed before I took any of my animals there. Had I know that they had such a terrible reputation, I never would have went in the first place. I have never spoken out against a place of business before on social media but the negligence and incompetence of The Babylon Animal Hospital at 350 E. Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst nearly cost us the life of a family member, our beloved Newfi mix, Keegan. Keegan suffers from Addison's, whereby her body cannot produce Adrenaline to sustain her without daily doses of steroids and monthly injections of Cortisol. On 3/17/21 Keegan was examined by Dr. Biederman who professed to have knowledge and experience with Addison's. Dr. Biederman had examined Keegan previously and had adjusted Keegan's medication levels last October. On 3/17/21, Keegan was in an apparent Addison's crisis, she was not eating or drinking and had become listless. They determined she was dehydrated but provided no fluids, they never bothered to run the necessary blood work to check her Cortisol levels, because they lied about their knowledge and ability to administer such a test. They performed an X-Ray revealing a mass. They sent us home and told us to come back the next day for an ultrasound. Upon completion of the ultrasound first thing in the morning there was no mass, and they admitted the X-Ray was corrupted however this information was not shared until that evening at which point, we were advised to bring Keegan to a 24-hour facility and that she may not survive the night. The Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island took Keegan in and immediately reviewed the blood work performed by Dr. Biederman. They were appalled, stating that Keegan was dangerously dehydrated...yesterday. They immediately began administering fluids and steroids and we sat vigil all night not knowing if she would live or die. The people at the Medical Center offered us 24-hour access and through their heroic efforts Keegan recovered. Now after all this we re-approached Dr. Biederman and respectfully requested that they reverse all their charges totaling over $1,000 especially since they admitted to the corrupted X-Ray which necessitated the sonogram. After waiting a full week for their reply, they declined and so I am warning everyone against Dr. Biederman and The Babylon Animal Hospital; they are unprofessional, incompetent, negligent, and downright dangerous to the health and wellbeing of your pet. Brought my cat in on Nov. 5th for she was not eating and not relieving herself. Dr. Mercurio checked her and said she's constipated - he extracted some feces and gave us laxatives to give her at home. He stated she will be fine in a couple of days. He recommended doing an xray and blood work. we agreed! He came back and stated he saw nothing on xray and that he would call us Monday or Tuesday with blood work results. We took our cat home and gave her the laxatives as he recommended. she was still not well by Monday. I called and left a message for Dr. Mercurio. (no returned call). I called him Tuesday and receptionist stated he was in surgery and that he would return my call. I called again 4 hours later and left another lengthy message with receptionist that my cat is not better and is very lethargic. still no returned call. Dr. Mercurio finally called Wednesday night at exactly 7:30pm. stated my cat had an infection (needs antibiotic) and that her blood sugar was high and she is now a diabetic. (needs insulin). All this information was a little too late. My cat died that morning!!! If he would have returned my calls, Maybe... just maybe my cat would still be alive! We are heartbroken!!! They will NEVER see any of my pets nor will I ever recommend anyone! I give ZERO stars!!!!! awful, uncozy and uncomfortable environment. i had a pomeranian puppy who was less than a year old at the time. i got him from a reputable breeder; the breeder's primary vet office was babylon animal hospital so we had to take our little guy there for his first appointment. when we first arrived, the receptionist was cold and the environment was unwelcoming and stagnant. when it was time for my pup to be examined, the vet tech had to bring him to a back room for blood work, which i thought was strange. it scared me, because i already felt uneasy about being at this vet. then dr. lugori or whatever his name was gave him a mediocre, half assed examination and then we were on our way. we got into the car and i realized that my puppy's leg was BLEEDING. the vet tech didn't even WRAP HIS LEG UP. i would rate this place 0 stars. these people who work there are incompetent and rude. if anything, go to DEER PARK ANIMAL HOSPITAL. dr. meyer is the best!! the event that i'm writing about happened 4 years ago. immediately after my dogs appointment, i wrote a nasty yelp review about my experience. however, i can't find it so i'm rewriting it. people need to be made aware of how animals are treated at this facility. i will never forget this experience. read more

Since we knew nothing of this adorable stray who refused to leave out house, we had HER checked out. We were told she was a spayed female. Fast forward about 10 years, my poor kitty is really sick, vets closed, run HER over to the 24 emergency care. First thing we find out....Our FEMALE is really a neutered MALE! This cat has been treated for two serious animal bites from her time spent outdoors and had numerous check ups...NO ONE noticed that the cat they told us was female was actually male! It's usually busy but never seems to be overwhelming because the staff handles it so well. I simply told reception I did not want to see that doctor, and I never saw her again. They have always taken good care of my pets. I'm not normally one to review but after my experience here today I will no longer be bringing my dog to this vet. This was my first time being able to go into the room with my dog since before COVID restrictions were put into place. My dog was immediately nervous going into the office which had never happened before. After getting into the room, with the handlers and the doctor, my dog was frantically trying to leave, which again is abnormal behavior for him. They tried to put a muzzle on him which was never done before and he was not letting it happen. I went for a checkup, 2 vaccinations, and to get his nails clipped. Because he was so nervous, they were only able to quickly give him the vaccinations. When I was checking out I was presented with a $150 bill that included an exam/office visit of $64. When I said that the only thing that was able to be done was the vaccinations, the receptionist went to the back to speak with the doctor and said that since the doctor went into the room it still counts as an exam. This is even though my dog didn't even make it up onto the table to be examined. I'm completely dissatisfied with my experience here and will be looking for a new vet for my pup. read more
