Teddy was just shy of 16 years young and enjoyed a long life full of love, affection, and being pampered - as he deserved! Dr. Gurtman and his staff were patient, understanding, and very sensitive to my mom when she had to come to terms with the fact that it was time for her beloved companion to go be with God. I am, as most pet owners are, INCREDIBLY anxious regarding anything that involves my cats. I've taken my Mowgli here for checkup appointments, vaccines, and to be neutered. Each time I bring him I worry (because that's just what I do), and each time the staff here reminds me of why I totally don't need to. They are communicative, friendly, patient, kind, and they always go above & beyond. Dr Bailes calls promptly with test results, updates, etc. and always takes the time to answer all of my questions. What a terrible experience! On Tuesday I took my dogs to get their vaccines and regular check up and $1700 later they said to come back with one of my dogs for another test today and they say everything was paid! My wife went in today and they charge her another $600 without remorse and when I complain they said the medicine was not included and that's not what the vet told me on Tuesday when I was there. Even though they were fully booked they squeezed me in and very so friendly, helpful and concerned when I got there. The doctor was kind and explained everything (the pros and cons of the situation). We have used this office for all of our animals for many years. 3 years ago we brought one of our cats in after his health rapidly deteriorated in a matter of days. Every time we brought him in to be euthanized they convinced us to keep him alive and try a new medication. The poor guy was barely 6 lbs and clearly suffering. $2,000 later we finally said please end his misery. Turns out he was filled with cancer and would have died anyway, we just prolonged it. We had issues with another cat and they did the same thing - convinced me to unnecessarily do every test under the sun for a UTI and got $400 out of me. Took my dog in 3 weeks ago for an ear infection and walked out $700 later with an antibiotic and steroid. They make you feel guilty, like you're abusing your animal by refusing certain services. I've also found the front desk staff to be extremely rude EVERY time I go there. They act like you're bothering them by merely existing and they are some of the most unfriendly women I have ever met. Now that COVID is calming down I'm going to be looking for a new vet which is unfortunate because I do like Dr. Corso a lot (he is relatively new there) but I can't afford the nonsense. read more

AN AMAZING FIND... They gave us hope exactly when we needed it! Our 13 year old poosh Sox was on day 5 of no food, little water, and listless I frantically searched the internet looking for a vet to save our dog who was suffering and confused... and us too. Time was running out, our local vet misdiagnosed Sox as having a giant tumor in his abdomen and in a 2 minute parking lot consult showed us an x-ray on her ipad and urged us to decide soon to end his suffering because the "giant" tumor could burst and kill him at any moment. This didn't feel right, so I began the search for a Vet and a second opinion, someone we could trust-4 hours later we found Townline and Dr.Iovino. And what a blessing! I called immediately for an emergency appointment and they took us a few hours later (amazing office staff) we were greeted by Dr, Iovino and we explained what we were going through, she knew exactly what to do and began a deep explanation and the plan of action to take now - So glad we listened, turns out there was no blood filled Tumor, but nodes in his abdomen that were causing his issues that are now being treated. (No words to describe the relief) I was like you, just reading through the Yelp reviews. If you too are reading this hoping to find special care for your pet because s/he is a part of your family and general vet services won't do then consider Townline - take note of the context here... we came in with no records for Sox, and it was obvious that we may never need their services again, and yet, the attention the staff gave us was still beyond what we could have imagined, now that's what I was searching for, and found, Thank you DR.Iovino and Dr.Corso and caring staff at Townline Veterinary Group for getting us through this! Dr. Urgo removed it in minutes without any trauma Dr. Urgo is always gracious, kind and confident, which has a calming effect on pets and owners..She's also extremely efficient and reliable. I go here for veterinary services and I will continue to do so But I will NEVER go here for grooming again. My dog had a 10am appointment with Rosania. I brought her with a written list is specific instructions. I wanted her to use a #3. She is a Havanese and needs her coat longer in the winter. Usually it takes a few hours and they call me when she is ready. After 3 I called them and surprise she was just finished. I believe they forgot to call. It was $73.00. As soon as Rosania brought her out I knew the cut wasn't right. My dog is bathed every week and brushed/combed everyday. At first she said she didn't have a #3 which is ridiculous for a so called "professional " groomer. Then she said my dog was matted which I know was a lie. Also the hair in her pads was not removed properly. And her tail was shortened, which I asked them not to do. DO NOT take your dog here for grooming if you want it done a specific way. For 20 years I have used Dr. Gurtman for all of my pets. From the time he was with Commack Animal Hospital to his practice now at Towne Line Veterinary. I always trusted all of my animals care to him. Until about a year ago. In November of 2017, I had to make the very hard decision to put my beloved Lab of 13 years to sleep. If that wasn't difficult enough, just 11 days later, my other Lab became suddenly ill. Long story short, she passed as well, supposedly during surgery. When I arrived at the vet to say my goodbyes, I stated to Dr. Urgo that I didn't understand what had happened. My dog showed no signs of illness 24 hours prior. Her response was very curt and sarcastic, "Oh really?" There was never any explanation of what had really happened. A few months later, another of my dogs required surgery to remove a tumor. When I picked up my dog and got her in the car, she reeked of urine. I called the office when I got home and their response was to give her a bath. Most recently, I brought my 9 year old lab in because he just didn't seem right. The doctor never took his temperature, never listened to his heart or lungs and immediately stated it was a dental problem. He drew blood and told us we would have the results the next day. 5 phone calls later and we still never received a call back from anyone. We then took him to another vet and sadly, he was diagnosed with cancer of the jaw. I then sent an email directly to Dr. Gurtman, and never received a reply. A copy of the email sent is below. A once excellent practice has now deteriorated and I truly believe it has all become about the almighty dollar. Several people that I had recommended to Towne Line have also expressed their disappointment with their experiences. If your truly love your pets, take them somewhere else. Dear Marc: After 20 plus years of trusting my beloved pets to you and your practice, I find it very difficult to write this email. I have been waiting since yesterday morning for a call back from Dr. Sibley or anyone else for that matter who can provide me the results of Dunkin's bloodwork. So far, 3 messages left and not one returned phone call. I brought Dunkin in on Monday because he is not acting right, drinking very little water and lethargic. Dr. Sibley never listened to his heart, his stomach or even took his temperature. He looked in his mouth and stated he might need dental work. I do not believe that is the case. $260 dollars later. Unfortunately, this is not the first time in the past year that I feel that the practice has lost it's personal touch. Back in November of 2017, I lost both my beloved Labs, Holly and Honey just 11 days apart. Holly was expected, and we did the right thing by euthanizing her. You were there and were extremely kind and compassionate and for that I thank you. Just 11 days later, Honey became ill literally overnight and required emergency surgery. Unfortunately, she passed. When Dr. Urgo contacted me that morning, she was extremely cold and actually made me feel like I had done something that caused Honey's death. She was very skeptical when I told her that Honey had shown no signs of illness the night before. To this day, I am still not sure what really happened, as Dr. Urgo never really took the time to explain. I still carry guilt with me for Honey's death. I think that what I am trying to say is, after 20 years of being a loyal client and countless referrals( I never could say enough about you) I feel compelled to look for another veterinary practice. I believe part of the problem lies with your reception staff. They have become very curt and impatient and several times I have been left on hold for over 15 minutes and when they get back on the phone, they have completely forgotten who they had been speaking to. As I write this, I still have not received a call back in regards to Dunkin's bloodwork. 36 plus hours seems a bit ridiculous to have to wait for results. I just wanted you to know how the practice is now appearing and what I have experienced over the last year. To me, you will always be an amazing, compassionate vet. I see Dr. Corso at Townline and he is the best vet I have ever met. He treats the pet like it's his own while being wallet conscious. He has saved my dogs life many times when he should've perished due to a chronic condition and the dog is now 15 and healthy. The vets are knowledgeable, caring, and great care providers. The staff is incredible, they are kind, patient, and recognize your pet is a family member. As a dog lover with a couple of pooches I can't ask for any more. I have been taking my Scottish terrier coal who has major attitude here for almost a year now for grooming. He is animal aggressive and hit or miss with people. He has gotten kicked out of every groomer because of all of the above. Marketta is absolutely amazing. She takes care of coal with such love and diligence and understands him so well. He even bit her last time and instead of kicking him out decided to continue to work with him. Before her it was difficult to keep my little fur bro on a grooming schedule sixne he got kicked out of every place after one time. But now that she is so amazing he is able to go every 6 weeks. Not to mention that she does the best Scottie cut I have ever seen and it is one of the hardest styles to perfect since they are so detailed. We gave her what we could for a tip but in our hearts she deserves sooo much more! Could not be any happier with her and she is so unbelievably appreciated! read more

Seven years ago, we were looking into having our 8-week old Boston terrier's dew claws removed (they were done improperly) and our primary vet was going to do it along with her spay, but I wanted a second opinion. I came across Towne Line, which was a fairly new practice that had received good reviews. I emailed Dr. Gurtman, who responded in less than 24 hours. I then made an appointment and met with Dr. Kothari, who immediately won me over with her warmth and attentive disposition with my puppy, Roxy. What sealed the deal was her insistence that we not proceed with correcting the dew claws, because it was the equivalent of removing fingers at this point. She educated me about why it should not be done. They also offered to keep her overnight for monitoring if we decided to do the spaying with them. For these reasons, we made the trek from Glen Cove and had Roxy spayed and microchipped with Towne Line. Dr. Gurtman did the procedure and he was so precise, you'd barely know she ever had one. Fast forward to our moving to Melville and Roxy fracturing her tooth. Once again, I reached out to Dr. Gurtman and by the next morning, I had an email advising against a costly an unnecessary decision for treatment. I went in and met with Dr. Gurtman in person and again there was the same warmth towards my dog, patience towards my many many questions and education regarding her condition. We had the fractured tooth extracted and once again the experience was excellent. Dr. Gurtman called me later that day himself to advise how the procedure went. Imagine that! The doctor calling you directly to let you know how it went and to answer any questions! I picked her up later that day just before they closed and started questioning the bill. The receptionist went to ask, and suddenly, Dr. Gurtman was next to me with an explanation. I was surprised he was even still there that late after a long day of surgeries. In my experience, there are veterinary practices that rely on the love you have for your pet, knowing that you'd do anything or pay anything to care for it and then using that to take advantage. That is NOT what you get with Dr. Gurtman and his team. You get compassion, integrity, and an understanding that caring for your furry family member should not entail a hefty financial burden or unnecessary tests and procedures. If you love your animals DONT BRING THEM HERE !!! I was fooled by the doggie day care and the appearance of the place. I drove from Bellmore ny -to exit 56 on the LIE 1 st visit I saw dr K and thought she was amazing - then she wasn't ever available - I continued to go there , and visit was worse and worse dirty and changes in the staff - I kept going - while searching for a different Veterinarian- I went in for routine blood work - while there I said I normally cut my dogs nails BUT since I am here can u cut his nails .... I hear my boy crying - I hear him yelping I try to find him I ask the desk why do I hear him crying what is going on and I want my dog NOW !!! They brought him back Limping and filled with # 2 all over him all over his back n butt n they handed me my harness n said he got loose and they restrained him - I said u restraint a 13 year old dog who is a 90 Lb big mushy baby ! Limping filled with # 2 and when I got him in the car I saw his left eye was filled with Blood - did I mention the swelling that was so visible it looked like he has a hump on the backside of him !!! When I called the office manger said come back so I can see him - I will work with the numbers - and when I question ed what had happened she said they had 3 people holding my dog down restraining him to cut his nail s - I AM SO SICK AS I WAIT NOW AT THE EMERGENCY VET WAITING TO HEAR IF HIS HIP IS OUT OF PLACE - RUNNING TESTS TO SEE WHY HIS EYE IS FILLED WITH BLOOD !!! My heart is broken that my baby boy was traumatized and ABUSED AND HURT BECAUSE OF A NAIL TRIM !!!! I will NEVER RETURN HERE AND I PRAY MY BOY IS OK AND ALL THE TESTS COME BACK NEGATIVE!!!! How dare they continue to abuse and harm animals and CLAIM TO BE SUCH ANIMAL LOVERS -the Drs should look at there staff and reprimand such ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR- so a nail trim is now costing thousand dollars- and my poor baby s pain !!! My experience with Towne Line Veterinary Group has been remarkable compared to other vets I've visited. I have taken a litter of 9 pups and own 3 dogs (Doberman Pinscher/Pitbulls), all of which have been cared for by Towne Line. They take extra care with the dogs and treat them like their own. Minimal wait time when you schedule an appointment and the staff is very friendly. I've gone to other vets on Long Island who claim to be affordable, but in the end seem to be upselling anything they can to make more money. These "affordable" vets also have terrible staff and ridiculous wait times. From my experience Towne Line Veterinary Group is the cream of the crop when it comes to veterinarians on Long Island for my dogs and myself. I wouldn't go anywhere else and recommend Towne Line to all my friends and whoever is reading this. read more

We have used their boarding services for years for our dogs. We drive from Nassau. We have been very happy until this year. My dog ended with pink eye. And $175 bill at our vet for visit and treatment. There is no doubt this is were it happened. My husband called the office and left a couple messages for the office manager to call us back. But we never had the opportunity to talk to her. She just never called back. We did not even ask for anything. We were not given the opportunity to even discuss anything. It's been 3 weeks. Plenty of time. Seems like she just could not be bothered. Update 1/23/17 following the business comment: After sending me a rather bold and borderline threatening tone message, you have decided to go ahead to discredit us again publicly this time. And yes, you have been combative and argumentative. This is your choice to do so. And it is our choice to call you out on it. You have decided that your own internal issues with your front desk should become ours. Most businesses would have said "Thank you for your feedback. Sorry you had a bad experience, we will make sure to review with our front desk. Hope your dog is feeling better". So let me make the behind the scenes more public also. Your office called my husband very shortly after I posted our review and for someone who never got any messages like you claimed she seemed extremely knowledgeable about the situation. Her first words were "your wife left a yelp review", "conjunctivitis is not contagious in dogs". My husband said the review was about your entire lack of response. You then decided to message me. The main reason. We did not take the Yelp review down. Because in the end, this is ALL you have cared about. This review. Not at anytime have you apologized by the way it was handled. Like I said, we have been using your boarding services for years. So maybe your first concern should have been to inquire why we left a bad review and maybe APOLOGIZE. But no, you again decided to be on the attack that you were in the right. People call your office twice. Explain a situation. Your front desk said they don't know what to do and will leave a message for the "office manager" to call us.....Twice. Nobody is calling us back. And you find a way to say you did nothing wrong. Not then, not in your message and not now. Or even inquired about our dog if he was doing ok. Not the lady that called my husband or yourself. You would think as a Vet it would be a nice touch, don't you think? You even went as far as blaming me for calling someone an office manager when you do not have any. Term used by your own front desk. Also for the records we never once asked for any money back. Not for the boarding and not for the vet bill. You completely missed the point. Over the years i have used Towne Line for various reasons, including boarding, grooming, and routine vet visits. I am in no way blaming them for the illness and subsequent death of my dog. However i would have appreciated, at the very least, being notified of health problems in a timely fashion during the 3 week boarding process. Instead, when i called to pick up my dog it was then that i was told she was 'experiencing diarrhea, urinating a lot, and oh yes she was limping'. Huh? Some simple phone calls regarding my dog's rapidly deteriorating health, during the boarding, would have gone a long way towards my continued confidence in this facility. Even offering to keep the dog for further health testing, would have spoke volumes allowing me to make more informed health choices. Rather my dog was brought to me as if nothing was unusual, i was even asked if i brought her in that way...hello, is anyone paying attention here? Now i was confronted with a dog that had started boarding appearing healthy and now couldn't even get into my car without being lifted. During follow up prodding on my part i was told to bring her back in a week if the problems persisted. In light of my dog's treatment, or lack thereof, i was forced to switch vet offices and actually found a much better office at Smithtown Animal Hospital, 891 W. Jericho Tpke, Smithtown, NY. Let me repeat i am NOT blaming Towne Line for my dog's death, but i am saying they completely dropped the ball on this one. read more

Dr. Kothuri is very personable and good with my dog, and that is why I have stayed with this practice in spite of the exorbitant fees (often double what I have been charged by other vets), curt staff (who snapped at me when I inquired about charges on my bill), and poor scheduling. I have had to wait a minimum of 20 minutes and sometimes over an hour past my appointment time, while my dog (who hates going to the vet) gets increasingly anxious. Of course I understand when emergencies intervene causing schedules to slip but this delay has happened on every single one of my 10-12 visits there. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND!! I needed to board my dog. I never boarded my dog before so I went to Towne Line Vet a week before to tour the facility to make sure I was comfortable leaving my dog. Then I inquired exactly what vaccinations/shots would be required and the boarding fees. I was told my dog would need kennel cough and a pill for fleas. Then the day I came to drop off my dog for boarding they informed me of an additional vaccination and now my dog would need to see the vet for an office visit and now that would be an additional $115 on top of what I was already paying. So rather than being upfront with all fees and requirements, they wait until you are leaving on a trip and your back is to the wall. This is NO WAY to do business. I was no longer comfortable leaving my dog to have an office visit with the vet without me there...maybe they'd actually give my dog the vaccinations or maybe not...how would I know? If they had been honest and upfront I could have made an office visit in advance. I had plenty of time. Both times I was there I dealt with the same front desk clerk. She made no apologies for the lack of honesty. read more
