Great riding center. They have jump training, basic to advanced and most important great horses! I have always been a lover of riding and horses and for a local center they have great trails and a great amount of area. They are clean and take very well of their horses! I also love walking the trails in the park behind it. They are flat so it's great for practice and training which is important for beginners and kids. It's also nice to just go and visit the horses just don't touch or feed them! The staff is trained well and very kind. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BARN! If I could give a negative rating, I would. Go elsewhere if you want your child to learn and if you want safe, well-trained horses. We were loyal clients of this facility for over 2 1/2 years. Our daughter was signed up for 10 session lesson packages year-round. She could never progress in her training as her trainers were constantly leaving, fired, canceled on us last minute (or as I arrived at the barn) or switched on us there. Most horses are from auction, injured, not trained properly, some are lame, not safe and overworked. Since its a revolving door of trainers, you never know their level of training. Half the time our trainers were not paying full attention to our child as she rode. They were too busy looking at their cell phones or talking to other trainers. They rarely corrected her posting, how to properly hold the reigns, correct posture, foot positioning, etc. The barn was recently sold, I believe in May, and is now known as Chestnut Bay Equestrian. I spoke to the owner Dorothy & scheduled a lesson. The day of the lesson, I called to make sure it was in the book, and low and behold it was not and no one could give her a lesson. I spoke with Mickie & scheduled for following week with another trainer and the following week the same thing happens. I'm told to call back to reschedule. After calling and texting repeatedly, I come to find out that my Babylon 10-lesson card, will NOT be honored by Dorothy, because SHE is losing money. How can you NOT honor previous lessons from a business you just purchased??? I had been trying to schedule a lesson before the business was sold (Babylon owner did not openly disclose he was selling). Poor business practices all around. Instead of honoring it, they lost our business. We will NEVER go back after years of patronage. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this disaster of a place. read more

I have been boarding here for six months and I was pleasantly surprised with how happy I am there. The owner Vinny has been Amazing. He has been accommodating, courteous, and has an extensive knowledge of horses and the horse business. What an awesome place to ride a horse ! The air is clean as it is in the forest, the horses are very well kept with a lot of love, you can see the care takers have that wonderful emotional connection to the horses. It is a great thing to do alone or with family if you like outdoors. The rides are on schedule and by appointment. The ride takes about 1 hour. Wear covered clothes, there are mosquitoes around just like nature you know. This is great for the adventure seeker people like me. The forest and the trees, the views were great ! I saw orange, pink, and red leaves trees. This is a fantactic time to ride because the trees are changing colors. Some trees have interesting shapes in them. My horse was Austin, he was great, I got to talk with him, I petted him, and kissed him. The instructions on how to ride the horse were very clear. I kind of let the Austin do what he wanted, he knew what to do and when to turn. I only had to pull him 2 times because he ate some leaves and I was not supposed to let him do that as per instructions. While I was talking with Austin, I was able to see my self reflection in his eyes, that was a first time for me, I love it ! huge beautify eyes he has. New owner Dorothy is so nasty and has no customer service skills whatsoever. I have 2 lessons left and she would not honor them because I bought them prior to her owning the business. I was not even told that they would not be honored when she took over or I would have used them sooner so I didn't waste my money. I told her I manage a business and this is not how I would treat customers that I want to return and she said " well I guess that's why you're a manger and I'm an owner" this is not how you speak to customers or even treat people. I will never go back there because of her and would not recommend this place to anyone ever again! Today We had a horse road trail. Kelly was our instructor. A lot of time I worked with other instructors and I know this job, but for the first time I met a girl with a high etityud and not friendly. Without explanation how to ride a horse (it was useful to know for my friend) we were put on horseback and we went. It was the most boring trip for all my time. The instructor did not communicate with us, did not allow to take pictures (they were not told about these functions earlier), did not explain anything. When we asked why we can't try faster because we are already skilled riders, she said that she has a backache. It's not our fault that the instructor was injured. I put two stars as it is a good place for beginners and the horses here are clean and beautiful. Good and pleasant owner. I would like to see more pleasant instructors. But we will not return here any more. read more

My 11 year old daughter and her friend took a 1 hour groom/riding lesson at Babylon Riding Center yesterday and had a fantastic time. The young ladies that led their lessons were information and friendly. The horses were calm and let the girls lead them. Even when Shamu would try to go to the patch of grass for a snack, he listened when she figured out how to steer him back on course. The girls are talking about going back for more lessons. They run a weeklong camp, which I hear is great. Unfortunately we already have plans that don't give us an open whole week this year:(. My daughter will have to be happy with an occasional ride. read more

I went here yesterday with my boyfriend and we had a great ride. They have so many beautiful horses. Our guide Katy was super cool and took pictures of us by the river on horseback. Vinny, the owner, accompanied us on our ride and was very welcoming and knowledgable about his horses. Everyone there was very friendly and tended to each of the horses. Vinny gave us a great local restaurant recommendation to hang out after our ride. The place has character. We'll definitely be back !! read more

The instructor we had very unprofessional and actually stood in the front of the ring yelling commands to my children rather than walk around the ring beside them. Good horses and instructors. I had been coming over a year on a weekly basis (at $75/hr for 52 weeks that's almost $4000 I've spent here). I had a death in the family - called and spoke with Rachel to let her know I had to cancel. Upon my return the next week, Rachel reprimanded me and told me I was a no-show. When I began to explain myself she told me to "slow my role". If Rachel wasn't the lead trainer I would surely return. No business manners whatsoever. What a shame. read more

Had a super experience at Babylon Riding Center getting my groups of Boy Scouts their Horsemanship Badge. The horses were ready when the boys arrived, the instructors were knowledgeable and friendly, and the other staff supported the riding and learning efforts of the boys. We had a great time! This place definitely is not for riders trying to advance their craft. i was given a different horse every week, every week there was a medical problem with them that always stopped my lesson. the horses either had no idea what they were doing or went weeks without being exercised. the people there would steal horses that were set aside for me and my trainer. causing me to ride horses i knew nothing about and even caused a nasty fall. extremely disorganized and did not have my beat interest at heart. stay far far away!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. WE WERE LIED TO AND MISLEAD. Monday 11:00 a.m. 6/11/18, I called and spoke to the owner, Vinnie and told him that I was an experienced rider and asked if he could accommodate myself and a friend (who is also an experienced rider) with a fast paced ride, i.e. loping/galloping. I explained that we did NOT want a "nose to tail" walking trail ride and that we wanted to enjoy ourselves with a fast paced ride. I also said that I would pay the higher price of $75 p/p for a "Private Ride" with just myself, my friend and a guide in order to establish a fast paced ride. Vinnie, the owner told me that he could definitely accommodate us and that he'd have two "really good" horses all ready for us and that he'd "take really good care of us". He agreed that we would be able to lope, gallop etc., and that there was no problem in doing so. Tuesday 1:50 p.m. 6/12/18, Upon arriving and dealing with Vinnie's daughter, Lisa, we were told that we had to wear helmets. I explained to her that I had spoken to Vinnie, her father and he not mentioned that we had to wear helmets. I reiterated to her several times that we were experienced riders and that Vinnie had assured us of an experienced ride. I was then told again that it was required that I wear a helmet. So, my friend and I put on the helmets. I have never worn a helmet for riding a horse in my life and I've been riding for over 40 years. We let it go though. We mounted and left for our 1 hour ride with Jerry, the guide. Mind you, I had also reiterated to Jerry that we were experienced and what kind of ride we came and paid for. Needless to say WE DID NOT ENJOY OURSELVES. We DID NOT lope, gallop or canter. It was an awful experience. We basically rode nose to tail and walked for 1/2 an hour in one direction, turned around and walked a 1/2 an hour back in the same direction we came, all for $150! I've never felt so deceived or scammed in my life! Once getting back and dismounting, we went into the office to speak with Vinnie. Vinnie basically lied right to our faces and said that he never told me, over the phone that we'd be able to lope, gallop on a fast paced, experienced ride. He said that he doesn't allow that at his establishment. He said "nobody gets to canter or gallop in New York State and it's the law". I personally know for a fact that it is NOT a NYS law, and I HAVE rode in many other establishments in NYS where loping, galloping, cantering are all allowed. After 10 minutes of asking why he had not been honest with me over the phone and explaining to him how disappointed we were, Vinnie could care less. He had our $150 plus a $20 tip I had given our guide Jerry, because I felt obligated to tip him. There are signs all around the stables saying to tip your guide. I realize now that I shouldn't have tipped him anything, because he didn't care either. I'm a sucker. They had our money, totally taking advantage of us. There was no common courtesy, apologies or remorse on their part. I am still very upset about being scammed from this place. There really is no lesson to be learned here, but I hope that this review will be enough going forward to inform anyone else who wants to go horseback riding (not walking) here. read more

Arrived with my girlfriend and was clear that they were unprofessional from the start. Had no safety brief and our riding explanation was given to us by a pre teenager who just said "pull left to go left and right to go right". As soon as we started, our guide had music playing on a speaker on her horse and would go far ahead of us and occasionally just look back. She told us that they aren't supposed to run with beginners but we were going to do so anyways and as soon as she took off my girlfriends horse bucked her off and she flew and slammed on the ground. The horses were trying to run away and my girlfriend fractured her hip. there was absolutely no first aid rendered, no emergency vehicle on site to go down the trail and we could not get ahold of the workers back at the stable. I ran down the trail back to my car and drove back to the scene, when i passed the stable the owner, Vin cursed at me saying he had already "called a f**king Ambulance". Waited 20 min on the trail until i decided to head down and when i came back with the car another vehicle pulled up behind me with more workers. I asked them if they were here for the injured person and they said no we are here for the horses. None of the staff besides the instructor asked if we were alright, nobody brought us any first aid items, no help was rendered, poor protocols in place for accidents, they didn't even have a first aid kit. Completely horrible and the worst part is the owner getting such an attitude to the point where he's becoming aggressive and cursing at me when i asked him where was the "emergency vehicle" they said they were sending. The owner vinny told me as I was leaving to "come back with my lawyers". read more

This was a disappointment. Took my husband horseback riding and the horse they gave me was spooked easily and the horse got scared and it threw me off and I hit the back of my head. They took me back in a car on the way back. Worst experience of my life. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Hopefully no one gets a horse that's easily afraid of everything. read more

The price is good, but the staff was not very welcoming at all. I must say we were very disappointed and felt like we were inconveniencing them. It was my 17 year old niece's first time riding and I wish I had taken her somewhere else. I grew up in Babylon and use to take lessons here many years ago and I will never go back again. read more
