What an awesome place to ride a horse ! The air is clean as it is in the forest, the horses are very well kept with a lot of love, you can see the care takers have that wonderful emotional connection to the horses. It is a great thing to do alone or with family if you like outdoors. The rides are on schedule and by appointment. The ride takes about 1 hour. Wear covered clothes, there are mosquitoes around just like nature you know. This is great for the adventure seeker people like me. The forest and the trees, the views were great ! I saw orange, pink, and red leaves trees. This is a fantactic time to ride because the trees are changing colors. Some trees have interesting shapes in them. My horse was Austin, he was great, I got to talk with him, I petted him, and kissed him. The instructions on how to ride the horse were very clear. I kind of let the Austin do what he wanted, he knew what to do and when to turn. I only had to pull him 2 times because he ate some leaves and I was not supposed to let him do that as per instructions. While I was talking with Austin, I was able to see my self reflection in his eyes, that was a first time for me, I love it ! huge beautify eyes he has. I believe this place offers horse riding classes also.

Vinny, the owner, accompanied us on our ride and was very welcoming and knowledgable about his horses.

Such an awesome location located nearby! I spoke with many people beforehand who were all surprised…read moreto know of a local spot right in Syosset with horseback riding. The trails were awesome and Janet was so incredibly nice and knowledgeable. I took my boyfriend for his birthday and he loved it!! I would recommend wearing stretchy/loose fitting jeans. You definitely dont want something too tight as itll be extremely uncomfortable and painful when in the saddle. It can be painful in your inner thighs after a while but Janet gave some good tips to minimize that feeling! After the 1.25h ride we got to feed the horses apples and carrots (they loveeeee carrots!) that we had brought from our home. DEFINITELY recommend going here and maybe deeper into the Spring as we didnt get to see much greenery since things are JUST beginning to bloom - but thats not their fault!

I won't list all of them - just some highlights. My friend, who is not experienced, wanted to do this trail ride for our birthdays and we thought it would be fun. I've been on trail rides all over the world and know what to expect, and have never pulled out of a ride because I didn't feel safe until this place. I was the first person to be mounted and when the horse came out, I could see that the saddle was improperly placed too far back. I didn't say anything because it's not my place, but when I mounted, the girth was clearly too loose as the saddle started to slip. I told them that the girth was too loose and also that the saddle seemed to far back so Janet said let's reset the saddle and asked me how I would do it! She didn't seem to know the proper placement or how tight to make the girth because apparently this happened before. She then told me to walk down the lawn and let the horse graze while I waited for the rest of the group. It's not a safe practice to let horses graze while mounted, especially with beginners, but apparently that's what they do regularly. When the group was ready to leave, Janet started off on her horse and just about 30 yards from the barn, before even getting to the trail, the horse tripped and fell all the way down to the ground!! Janet fell off of course, and the horse walked off. If I had any doubt that all the red flags I'd clocked were right, this confirmed it. She was shaken up but ok, but didn't go on the ride, I don't know what was up with the horse but if a horse falls down just walking across a lawn, that raises questions about soundness and safety that are serious.

I started riding with Sally as an adult after taking a break for a few years after college. While I…read morehave since moved and am no longer able to ride on a weekly basis, I still find her lessons incredibly effective for the times that I am able to make it to the barn. She knows what makes each individual horse and rider tick, which enables her to bring out the best in both of them. I especially love her knowledge in dressage and emphasis on flat work. With Sally, I understand the "why" behind her instruction. I wish I found her years earlier!

She has a sixth sense when it comes to what each horse and rider needs in the moment and tailors the lesson accordingly. Her extensive dressage background ensures that her students are equipped with a solid foundation in flatwork that translates beautifully over fences. In 5 months of consistent lessons, Sally completely boosted my confidence and got me back to jumping small courses after a long break. Sadly I'm not able to ride very often these days, but whenever I do get a chance to take a lesson with Sally, she is always able to meet me wherever I am that day and I walk away feeling accomplished. She has taught me not just how to ride, but how to truly connect with a horse in a way I never have before. Sally also has a lot of experience training horses, particularly thoroughbreds. I highly recommend her for all of your riding and training needs.
