I've been here a few times and recently came in for boozy brunch with a few friends. We tried to make a reservation, but they don't accept them for small groups. The host forgot about us and the wait ended up being about 1.5hrs after being quoted 30min and after seeing numerous other small parties taken before us. No problem, boozy brunch should take our minds off the long wait, right? Well, the waitress finally came over to take our orders and told us a number of items on the relatively limited menu were not available because they ran out of bread (at 2pm.) What kind of brunch restaurant runs out of bread?? They had also run out of the short rib. We each ordered a greyhound (props to them for having more than just mimosas and bloody marys as part of the bottomless) but they took a little while to arrive and it was tough to get refills. We saw several other tables get pitchers so I'm not sure why we had to order each drink individually. Overall, the food was good, even though I had to go to my 4th option because of the bread/short rib shortage. I think the staff just seemed really overwhelmed by the crowd. Additionally, the bathrooms are downstairs past the kitchen and while they were fine, there was a horrible smell just outside the kitchen, which was a little disconcerting. Still giving 3 stars, because having gone there before, I'm hoping this was just an off day. read more

Baby's all right is a typical Williamsburg bar and music venue, but with different vibe, a great kitchen and delicious cocktails. I went there with a friend. We both wanted to have a different evening, in a new place. The lineup of the night seemed fun, as well as their menu. We first seated at the restaurant, and we shared various appetizers, mostly vegetarian, really good. The fried Brussel sprouts are to die for. I almost wanted to lick the bowl they came in. We accompanied the food with two great cocktails. Afterwords we moved in the live music area. The space is nice, spacious, with an additional bar. Music was good, and the crowd was great. Not too fancy, and not too crazy eccentric. We went there for a show less than 2 weeks ago. There are no signs on the bathrooms downstairs so women, be wary of men urinating in the women's room and general confusion. My wife tells me the walls to the stalls in the woman's bathroom were falling apart. There was a leaky ceiling while it was raining in the main performance area. It caused a slippery situation. Our waitress was fab and brought us pitcher on pitcher on pitcher of strong mimosas. Came here for brunch with a big group of friends on a Saturday, we had a reservation and showed up 15 minutes early. We weren't seated at our table until half an hour after our reservation. The host was very apologetic and helpful and he even let us start our bottomless drinks at the bar while we wait. But once we sat down, it was really hard to get drink refills and even after we ate our food we asked for one more pitcher of mimosa but were told that we could just have our drinks topped off. Even though we were sat half an hour after our reservation we were not offered any compensation or anything to resolve the issue. Came here for a bottomless brunch on a Saturday. I'm normally a little skeptical of bottomless brunches - I always think they're over priced. Rarely do they fill their quota on the drinks, and rarely is the food ever that good. But it seems Baby's All Right is a bit of an exception. $30 for a main and 90 mins unlimited cocktail boozing - you can't knock it. We had a party of 12 of us, so granted we take a bit of serving. I'd say the staff aren't willingly keeping the booze flowing (they're a little slow on filling the drinks considering you've only got 90mins to get your fill) but with a little nudging they more than comply. If you ask for pitchers of your choice cocktail, they'll also bring them to your table which seems like the best bet. Food wise I cannot complain. I had the wake and bake which was loaded with eggs, smoked Gouda, hollandaise and home fries. I'm normally a little underwhelmed by homefries but these were crisp and seasoned well. Could have eaten the portion again, but then again I am a big fat pig. Overall, this is a great spot for a bottomless brunch. Food is decent, drink refills keep pushing with some flowing and it's priced very fairly. Solid 4 stars for Bottomless Brunch. read more

After a great dinner, I yelped a good bar in the area and my fellow yelpers did not disappoint! This place has a cool vibe and a nice crowd. The drinks were decent and not too pricey. Stopped in here last month to check it out after having heard really good things from a friend. I didn't know who was playing ahead of time. Turned out to be Cherry Glazerr. We arrived near the tail end of their performance. It was packed, but we still managed to get a good view of the band. I loved it here. We all know you had an amazing chat in the bathroom line with a "true creative" that could just possibly be your new best friend!...yeah that'll happen. A * Anticipate the venue. Do they have coat check? Is it cash only? Is there an ATM? Is there wifi? Is the stage underground with NO service. Do they have outlets? Did you bring your charger? Did you backup and delete photos so you have enough space to take 100 soft focus dark shots of your favorite "right now" group? (stupid smart phone! I hate love you). Are you older or ssssensitive (meaning do you kinda need to have a lil pair of hot orange ear plugs...just in case?) Did you budget for the Merch table... cuz you gotta show Errybody that you know who this band is (even though they don't care... they don't. It's ok.) But there are sooooo many choices! Pins, Patches, Totes, Shirts, Records, Cassettes... (Note to all DIY punk groups... We love nostalgia and kitsch but We ain't got tape players! And hand mirrors???!!!I I mean whatever they are only $3 and they have the logo on it. B * Be Adventurous Experience your environment and the acts you came to see. EXAMPLE: This past Tuesday I went to Baby's All right to see The Coathangers. I was lucky enough to attend the sold out show due to the kindness of my friend Jeff, a bartender there and member of a great local band, Caveman. Baby's is a great venue for exploring and finding your own space no matter who you are with. The genius to the club lies in a few key points. It is located in a great area that lies on the edge of Brooklyn and Manhattan yet keeps the feel of a small DIY feel to it. This location is key for leaving, you have two easy options to venture into Brooklyn or pop over to the city. The space is great. As you enter into the front room, there is a merch (short for merchandise...band swag) table on left and the first bar on back wall. To the right and slightly elevated has a nice coved seating and table area with booths and chairs. The decor is hard to pinpoint but includes everything from a giant wall painting of HIGH LIFE (of beer fame which they readily have available in bottles or cans with shots for cheap) and amazing banquets with Alligators on top, with their jaws open wide clutching lighted globes. As you walk to your right there is another bar, a back booth'd and tabled room and a downstairs for restrooms. Now when you walk in, if you don't go right through the amazing bar/lounge areas as you will pass the merch table on the left you go through the door into the stage area. There is a bar to the back wall and a small section fronted by a railing (I recommend a spot there) if you walk around the railing you go down the ramp to the open square standing area. The space is small enough for good eye lines anywhere. The Stage lighting and sound is perfect. One of my favorite parts are the hundreds of small led color changing lights on the rear wall behind the band. Each light is being shined through a vintage ashtray... something you can see up close. The band was The Coathangers, they are an all girl garage punk trio from Atlanta who rotate vocally... each with their own style. My personal favorite being the drummer's guttural rasp. Amazing! They were super. They put on a great show and we were easily able to move around the space and stage to see them and the openers. This is what is a highlight for Baby's... there is no need to got to a "pre bar" to wait for the opening bands, you can comfortably hang out in the the alternate spaces, they have a separate bar and lounge...this is a bar you can bring friends who didn't get a ticket to... they can chill there as you go see the show. It's Brilliant. Y * You're Here To Have Fun, Remember this! We are all here to do the same thing. See the band we love or someone we're with loves. We wanna see the pudding, get the proof. That's why we live in NYC, to have access to hopefully witnessing something great. So don't be a dick. Don't push, don't shove, don't try and act above anyone. You may not have paid to get in but we're all in the same boat now. Just go with the flow. If you're tall, go to the back and sides. We know it's not your fault but come on. At the very least let woman and children trump you. And be nice to your bartenders! Even if they aren't. We all need them. No need for your bad night to ruin ours. S * Socialize, Say Goodnight and Sleep! Don't forget to talk to people. I ran into someone I had seen at Suburbia (look it up) a month ago and had forgotten to get contact info and now were music buddies. Wow, what is it about music venues that elicits such passionate and extreme responses from people?! Taking a quick scan at other people's reviews, I can see that Baby's All Right is definitely a love it or hate it type of place. I'm more on the love side of things, but it's important to note a few things: - First, I live in the area so it's very easy for me to just walk from my place on any given evening to check out a show or grab a drink. For this reason I've found myself at some random shows with bands I've never heard of. This means the back show area is usually not too crowded, and the bands run the gamut in terms of talent and cover price. I really like being able to casually stop in and see what's going on without committing too much time-wise or money-wise. - Second, though I'm aware that Baby's All Right can be quite a scene and maybe sometimes embodies what annoys people so much about Williamsburg, I'm actually so removed from the scene or anything up and coming that I've rarely found myself in the middle of an annoying crowd. If I see a packed house or a line out the door, I turn around and go somewhere else. I've found the door, bar, and coat check service to be fine - nothing over the top friendly or unfriendly. I personally really like the back room - I think the sound is great, and I like the little raised part toward the back of the room where even a shorty like me can see the stage. I also think it's really cool that they have that automated window cover between the bar and the back room so you can catch glimpses from the front room once in a while. More than anything, I like that there's a venue in the hood where you can see cool bands but isn't super grimy. It's new and clean and well-styled inside, and it's a great option for a last minute night of music in my opinion. read more

I have never really been thrilled with this venue but I give it a solid 3.5 stars. It is Williamsburg but to me not the part of Williamsburg I usually explore, some walking to get here from train . The floor or just right at the setup for the stage is great to see even from the main bar or making your way back from other inside bar. I went to a Brooklyn Vegan event here once and at least two other shows that were just plain worth going to. I get the drinks usually and have not actually tried the food here. Drink prices to me are average for the neighborhood. Check it out at least once, form your own opinion. read more

Just ordered 2 drinks from a female bartender(). The price was 18. I gave her 20$ bill and was waiting for the change so I could leave her a tip. After realizing that she was not going to do that I asked her: can I have the change please? She replied: "this is my tip". I am a bartender myself and saying this to a costumer is unacceptable. The waitstaff and bartenders are entirely male, and have apparently never a) worked in a restaurant in NYC before and/or b) experienced gay people before. That is all I wanna say about the obvious homophobia in this place. We weren't offered drinks, our table was never cleared and our water was never refilled. This would be whatever in bar food atmosphere/price range, but when you're charging Williamsburg prices, you don't get to act like a dive in Bushwick. Also, they were out of half the menu. The food is actually good, hence 2 stars instead of the zero the rest warrants. As for the show: Poor Langhorne Slim! His set was great, but they were blasting music so loud in the front that you could hardly hear him. I've swung by the space a few times for different shows, and every night was pretty awesome. The backdrop for the stage is gorgeous. Now that Glasslands has ditched the clouds-- and saved us all from dying in a terrible synth-related firestorm-- Baby's is visually one of the coolest spots to see a show in BK. Got a bunch of pictures from the nights I went and they all turned out looking great. Got a little bit boozy, so I'm fuzzy on drink prices, but I do remember the bartenders being courteous and I never had to wait around to be served. Weirdly, the security guy was SUPER nice, which impressed all of us. He was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, which may have lulled me into a false sense of thinking he was being Midwestern dad-like, but even without the shirt I would have been pretty amazed. I don't think he grunted angrily at my friends and I even once for milling around. Sound was good, drinks were served quickly, and the bathrooms (though they are down some stairs, but what the hell in NYC doesn't require some kind of absurd amount of drunken effort?) were really clean. I discovered the Montreal band, Seoul and found out they were playing at Baby's All Right on Feb. 26 so I was excited for the following reasons: 1. Checking out a new band live 2. Finding a new music venue I came in around 8pm and the venue was filled with the dinner crowd or people were lingering after happy hour. My friend and I love the back room where performances take place. There's a bar inside the back room where you can buy your drinks and enjoy the show. The acoustics are pretty good but my friend loved the decor and the lights. Seoul is a dream pop band with lovely vocals backed up by synthesizers and melodic tunes on guitar. It reminds you of Washed Out. Anyway, I love the venue since it was that nice intimate feel and the bathrooms downstairs are clean! The bouncers are nice and helpful and the crowd is chill. It's a bit of a walk from the L line though if you're coming in from Manhattan connecting from Union Square. read more

Pretty cool local bar and is on the same block as the infamous Peter Luger Steakhouse. Came here to listen to a old school R&B as my girlfriend was friends with the DJ spinning on the one's and two's. We came around 10pm and it was kind of dead at first but then in like 20 to 25 minutes packs and packs of people started congregating to the bar and then all of over the place and then suddenly I was like damn this place is popping! Bar is $20 min for credit card but you'll get your money's worth as the drinks are not expensive here. They fill your beer in a huge plastic cup. We got 2 vodka tonic's and a Lagunita's IPA and a club soda for $21. The vibe is crazy chill! It's a mix of everyone from hipsters to yuppies to not so thuggish but wish they were thuggish (just talking about me because I was in Brooklyn) but it was definitely a fun environment. Everyone seemed friendly and having a good time. The place is actually huge as there is a secondary room with booth's where I think they also serve food during the day. And at one point when we leaving it was really hard to walk by people. i didn't get a chance to see but my girlfriend it was her first time seeing the guys bathroom longer than the girls. Coat check (not mandatory) was $2 a coat which was a fair price. We initally didn't expect to stay here long because we had another party to go to but we ended up staying so much longer than expected. It's a lot bigger than you would think from looking in, two big rooms, in diner fashion, and a back ground for live music. I did not watch the live music, so that review will be another time. Located a few blocks away from the Marcy Ave stop off the JMZ this place is large, spacious, laid back and the changing LEDs behind the glass blocks at the entrance provide something to space out to when your conversation runs dull. The happy hour specials are very good (so good that I remember seeing them in Time Out or Zagat or whatever one of those emailer lists which talk about the best happy hours). We're talking $3 high lifes (blech...i know but its cheap),$3 pink babys (some frozen slushy frou frou guaranteed hangover drink), and $6 ancient age bourbon (i'd say its between a jim beam and a JD) and high life combo. The burger specials are equally impressive with a $7 baby burger with fries. The burger itself was quite decent in both taste and size. Let me emphasize this is a great happy hour for drinking and then having a bite to keep it together. On a week night the crowds are light so getting a drink at the bar is no problem. Table service is a bit slower than ordering at the bar as despite the server being pleasant, he was not the most attentive. The atmosphere feels very much like you walked into a 70s swanky pad in cali. with wood accents, yellow-ish lighting. The place is broken up into three different areas. Front bar with stools several booths on an elevated area, side room full of booths, and i think a back room. Bathroom is down a flight of stairs in the side seating room. Nothing particularly stellar, but not too dinge-y or grime-y either. The crowd are all your typical S. Williamsburg types; while we were there that night there was a date my group was spying on between a disinterested boy and an interested girl - that was good fun. Sometimes I don't wake up early enough to pay Diner my weekly visit. And then I am forced with the inevitable "well, NOW where do I eat brunch?" question. Since I can't be bothered to walk more than 5 blocks in any given direction in search of sustenance, I wander down the street and head to Baby's All Right. You can easily grab a spot in either of the spacious dining rooms, the music is good, and, here's a selling point: bloody mary bar. They give you the glass with the tomato and vodka combo and you can stuff as many olives and celery sticks into that pint glass as your hungover heart desires. As if you needed any more reasons, the food is pretty solid and reasonably priced as well. Lots of egg dishes to keep you happy. read more

Baby's has become one of my favorite music venues. So many great artists appear here, the sound and lighting is always great, I don't usually drink so I love the free water, and if I do drink they have a nice IPA. The door staff and bartenders are always courteous and on-the-ball. I like the internal side door that leads to the downstairs bathroom (clean...) which enables a loop around the front back to the show, or outside. The light show is always great. Lots of free concerts, too, and always a bargain regardless. read more

Rude, crude, and ill-refined. Never have I ever been so gobsmacked by a boulder of dourness as when I entered this performance space-slash-eatery's purlish mew. My night was going swimmingly- Korean tapas, a heej from my roommate's ex, and finding $7 at the foot of the driggs entrance stairs- I was ready to heed the siren call of Bacchus BUT then I penetrated the squeaking doors of Baby's. The excitement exited my soul as the gas from a child baby on carrot supplements. Faces down in phones. The sardonic, gleeless check-in staff seeming as though interacting with humanity was a Sisyphean tsk. The abundance of cackling demands for fireball. I knew I had to excape. And indeed I did. A disappointing night a warm sangria awaited elsewhere. And I was all the better for it. Mankind was not meant to toil. Baby's, we are most certainly not all right. read more

I have no idea how enjoyable this place is as a night club, but as a concert venue it is absolutely atrocious. The capacity is way too high for the size of the venue. A sold out concert will have you constantly being shoved around and knocked over, and it doesn't help that it's a bunch of smug Williamsburg hipsters with no consideration for other human beings. It's tiny, cramped, and uncomfortably sweaty even in the dead of winter. The service is fine and the place is clean and well kept, but they need to drop concert capacity by 50-100 people. Otherwise it's an absolute disaster and impossible to enjoy live music. Do not go unless you absolutely need to see a particular band playing (and even then it will probably be ruined for you). read more

Came here for a casual birthday get together, and I'll be honest and admit I wasn't entirely sober by the time we made it here. That said, the waitstaff was pretty good / on top of things, and I was thoroughly impressed at the level of food the kitchen produced, given that this is primarily a music venue (they even have a good chunk of menu items that are vegan friendly! but it IS williamsburg, so, y'know ...) I'd say this should really be more like 3.5 stars, and only shy of 4 because nothing was particularly outstanding, but everything was entirely alright! the soup was delicious, but clearly not enough to sober me up. Baby's is, well, just all right. The doorpeople made us pay a $10 cover despite the venue screwing up and overbooking the early show, meaning they refused to honor the free-before-midnight RSVP. They then oversold the show to 120% fire hazard capacity. Decent, even sound throughout the venue. Two of the DJs didn't know how to mix -- I caught one playing a recording from one of Crookers' festival sets, and Alex English (who runs many Webster Hall events), had to step in and help switch songs. One-star bump for having $6-7 drinks and pitchers of water with cups at the end of the bar. It's the only dance-y venue in NYC I've found that doesn't make you pay $5+ for water. read more
