This venue has premium musical acts! I went 2 days in a row I'm so blessed to have seen 4 amazing bands. Day one seeing Danielia Cotton with her amazing band followed by Matt Schofield and and his amazing band. The flowing night we saw oz noy and the annoying band lol great name for his band! Which includes Paul Shaffer. I want to thank the staff, owner and of course the musicians for 2 amazing nights of entertainment! I didn't try food this trip but the burger looked good! I hope to visit again on my next trip to NY!

Fun exciting venue, close intimate stage, great sound system. Bartenders fast and very pleasant, never had to get out of my seat for service. Small cosy venue, highly recommend

The Bitter End is the greatest venue of all time! The most legendary place I've ever been to! Not only is the music still absolutely incredible but the staff are so welcoming and helpful from the owner to the bartenders to the door men to the sound engineers. I have never encountered such a wonderful place in my life that brings such enjoyment in every aspect! You walk in and immediately feel at home. I highly recommend! A perfect place for every night and every occasion. And they serve food! Love the food.

Great music and good drinks! Would recommend 100% - the bat had a good amount of space and seats for live music, I saw Kidbrass and they were doing some great song covers and original stuff

5 stars just for Richie Cannata. If you don't know who that is, look him up! He performs here every Monday night with a band and allows for locals to join and perform! He had personally invited the people I went with to the gig! It was honestly one of the best concerts I've been to in such a small, simple venue. The place itself had a $10 cover charge which was very nice. If you sit down, they do have a 2-drink minimum. If you want, just grab some of the non-alcoholic drinks and you'll spend about $10 more.

The bitter end is a historic location in New York City where folk music had it start in the 60s, and famous acts like comedian George carlin and Lady Gaga performed. Now it's a little bit more low-key with local music created for a more mature audience including jazz fusion and I've been there for some other comedy shows that my friends hosted. It's an interesting space with a large space stage with a beautiful blue carpet. The two servers who are friendly and attentive. They have a two drink minimum and the cover charge is around $10 for a Saturday night. This is where you come if you're more of a musician, as opposed to red lion down the block where you will get some cheesy cover bands. It's a historic location so it's absolutely worth checking out for the history of music and that's why I see a lot of tourists out front. I will always continue to come here to support the local music scene in New York City. A bunch of my friends have played here and some of them have even recorded records. Now they have much more updated technology and I think any bands can record their show.

Awesome venue for a fantastic band. The burger was excellent and the fries were also very good. If you didn't like the bartender Karen there's something wrong with you because she's absolutely delightful. I can't wait to go back again real soon.

It's home away from home! I have been coming to The Bitter End since the 60's using fake ID (sorry CAZ) Its a slice of history for serious music lovers...still smells the same.. I love everyone affiliated with this great venue, its like coming home! GREAT original music , Intimate venue....

Man I stay the hell away from NYU country if I can but I'll go pretty much anywhere for live music. I got in half price the night I came because they only had one band left. Atlas Gray, with an amazing song called Bagel Believe, about how carbs and a bit of schmear can save the world and bring us all together - check em out! Along with the cover is a 2 drink minimum. The bar is small and narrow, filled up mostly by tables with waitress service. It's old and cramped and dirty and lovely. The women's bathroom is narrow and has the most hilariously hazardous first step.

It's a legendary music venue in the Village. Appropriately divey-esque. Great musicians. The normal drill: $10.00 fee at the door. Two drinks minimum. Close friendly seating. Enjoy the show! The staff is friendly and efficient. No qualms. Tonight: Funk Shui brass band were fabulous!!

I visited this place yesterday and it was great. Good vibe, and most importantly perfect drinks. I went to see one specific singer Nicolette Capua. She has so much passion and such a beautiful voice. I'm not sure when is her next show but It's a must go if she shows up. The place was packed but they have enough space and chairs. The ticket was pretty affordable $10 , the service and servers were super friendly totally worthy! Nicolette Capua s fan.

I went inside and asked the host if she was allowed to come inside with me, she said " yes! From 2pm-9pm she's welcome." We went home got ready and headed right back out. When we got there she said " you can sit anywhere." For a person handling everything at the time and I mean bartending, waitressing and being the host, she did amazing! She did explain to us that although the wings were 50 Cents the minimum u can get is 5 or 6. We ordered Bbq wings, mozzarella sticks, french fries, and regular wings. Everything tasted delicious and cooked to perfection. We came out this place looking like we ate a whale lol. They have juice, soda, and water for beverages, as well as alcoholic drinks. If you're ever interested in going, I suggest looking up what dates they have live events because that stage screams " LIVE MUSIC EVENTS."

Shortly after arriving, the tables disappeared and it got way more crowded & loud on this Saturday night. It was a fun bar with live music. We did dance albeit very closely together. The unassuming outside hides a tremendously cool inside. As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted warmly by Dinara (sp?) who was effortlessly cool in her own right. A young lady ( whose name I didn't catch) promptly seated us. It's not a huge space, but we didn't feel cramped. There was a bar up front, tables along the side walls and a stage in the back. Apparently they have live music nights and open mic nights too. When we went there was 80s/90s music playing and it was very cool. The decor is unapologetically Black and I love it! The restroom is clean and contemporary. The service staff is amazing and attentive. They gave us cornbread with berry butter. Very tasty! My only complaint is that they could have given us each a piece instead of giving us one piece cut into 2. Lol! But it was free! And if that's the "worst" part of the experience then you know it was an overall good time! I was wavering between whether or not to get the collard greens and asked if they were sweet or bitter or spicy. Our server went and got a small sample for me to try because it was hard to describe. I was grateful for her willingness to let me try them. By the way I did order them and they are more savory than any of the above. It's a gentle savory flavor. I also got rice and beans and teriyaki salmon. The beans weren't exactly what I expected. They were black beans which I don't typically associate with soul food. They weren't bad although next time I think I'll get potatoes. My dining companion got lamb chops and collard greens and mac and cheese. She loved everything and at it right up! The food presentation, flavor, and portion size were all good. I didn't leave feeling overstuffed but I was satisfied. The servers checked in on us an appropriate amount of times (we didn't feel rushed or under surveillance but they made sure we had what we needed). The manager/owner stopped by to make sure everything was good and chatted with us. All around good vibes & good eats--I would go again. Highly recommend!

Thank you, Valerie Simpson, and your late husband; Nickolas Ashford, for creating this amazing venue. The guest host for the evening was the incredibly talented Olutayo. Olutayo is joy exemplified. His vocal range, dance moves, entertaining facial expressions...infectious. I fell in love with this man and did not hesitate to tell him so. Beyond his talents was Olu's ability to manage / juggle the night's open-mic entertainers with such grace. From the lyrics of En Vogue and Salt-N-Peppa: "Whatta Man, Whatta Man, What a Mighty Good Man!" All of the entertainers were incredible. What a range of singers, dancers, a poet, a violinist. And the band! The band! The band! Come on!! Outstanding. I was seated next to Darius, one of the several background vocalists that were positioned throughout the lounge. We became fast friends in this space filled with exuberance. Darius was a delight. He was also a big brother to me, making sure no one blocked my view of the performance. Thank you, Darius, that was so kind of you. I had such a wonderful time being in the company of all these amazingly talented people. It was a 6-hour dopamine rush that should not be missed. The dinner that was served was top-notch. I had the Sea Bass. My friend had the Golden Fried Chicken. Both meals were delicious. I had the ginger mocktail with rosemary and blueberries - so yummy I had two. Dessert was key lime pie - suffer we will. Our server; Vickie, was a delight and amazing to observe as she maneuvered around the performers and kept us and everyone around us well served and continually hydrated. Vickie is to be commended for how hard she worked throughout the evening. I made sure our tip reflected our appreciation of her. Put the Sugar Bar on your bucket list when visiting NYC. You'll leave there feeling you have experienced Heaven on Earth.
