The drunken Brooklyn has been our go to whenever in doylestown. Last few times we ordered it, we've been disappointed. The crust was over cooked, black on all edges and on the bottom. Next to no basil was used on our pizza. I understand the cost of things are up (they had signs up explaining the lowering of the amount of chicken wings per order and the increase in cost for the smaller amount of wings) and if you're changing how you make the pizza be transparent about it! Also, whomever made our pizza HAD to know it was burned and decided to let it go to the customer when they shut the pizza box. So customers, if you're doing takeout check your pizza before you leave! On top of that, I don't know if the AC was down or something, but it had to be 85 degrees in the restaurant portion of the building. With so many awesome restaurants in Doylestown we won't be returning. read more

We have been going to Bacco for years. I love Italian food and this became our go-to place when we wanted a treat. Historically great food, big portions and nice service. It's October 2022 and we haven't been to Bacco in probably 6-8 months; SOMETHING CHANGED, and not for the better. A few lowlights: First, I noticed the menu was MUCH smaller. A one-page, black-and-white two-sided menu; in the past it was a full color booklet with so many options, it was hard to decide. Second -- We ordered the antipasto salad -- we always split it and it's always a highlight because it's so big and so good! Well tonight, when it came out, it was good, but much smaller; probably 2/3 what it was in the past. Hmmm. Third, and the weirdest -- We were a party of five. They brought entrees out for two of us. OK, that happens and typically two minutes later the rest come out. This time, it was a FULL FIFTEEN MINUTES before the other three entrees came out!!! I can honestly say, after probably a thousand restaurant meals, I have NEVER experienced that before. Two entrees served, three people sitting there twiddling their forks and sipping water for FIFTEEN MINUTES!!!! And not one word from the wait staff. Really???????? When the other three did come out, not one word of apology or explanation or anything. Really, really, really super bad. What happened to Bacco?? Fourth, and a close second for weirdness -- I ordered rigatoni with meat sauce. What I got was overcooked rigatoni with what seemed to me like canned crushed tomatoes on it. Really? What happened to Bacco????? When I told the waitress this wasn't what I ordered, she said "I know, we had a mix up. Your food is coming up." WHAT???? You knowingly served me some mediocre, flavorless dish I didn't order??? What happened to this place? Fifth -- I wonder if restaurants and their wait staff understand that they work in a SERVICE industry. The overall performance was pretty bad all around tonight and not any one of our three servers gave an apology or an explanation. Nothing. So... this is now the acceptable norm at Bacco??? I sure hope not. I'm giving Bacco a pass. The food in the past was always, hot and delicious and the service was very good. I gotta believe it was just an off night, but I tell you, it was one complete dud of an off night. We will absolutely give Bacco another shot, because the upside is soooo good. But another experience like tonight and it's cross-out and move-on time for us. read more

My apologies for taking so long to write this review! It's been a while since I've had the pleasure to dine at Bacco Bistro. And it is truly a pleasure! Being Italian, and the daughter of immigrants, I understand and appreciate true Italian fare. And, well, I know how to make most dishes and grew up around the traditions. What I can tell you is that Bacco IS the real deal. Owned and operated by an Italian family (from Calabria, Italy), they make most dishes from scratch. Our family stopped in yesterday to celebrate an anniversary and they accepted and served 10 people like it was no big deal. Our meals were all perfect! From antipasto to cheesecake! Several people were drooling over the drunken gnocchi (don't panic, they were children and there was no alcohol content ). The famous "long hots" must have been hot because they keep a certain person oddly quiet . And our family loves that they name certain entrees "Nonna's" because that's what our children call their grandmother. They have entrees such as Nonna's meatballs, Nonna's chicken soup, etc. That's how we speak at home, a real Italian family. So, Bacco's does it right in giving you a feel for being in an Italian family's kitchen...Only you don't have to do any of the clean up!. Fabulous in my book! Now...being gluten free, I must say, I was THRILLED when I found out that they offer a cauliflower crust pizza, because Bacco makes some seriously great pizza! The gluten free isn't as good as their original crust (sorry, I just can't lie about that one) but it is good and the topping are fresh and make it great. Point to note: when they bring out the tray of amazing bread, ask them for a to-go container. If you eat the bread, you'll never eat your entree! Happens every time. Year after year they've been delivering some pretty awesome food with excellent service. Nothing it's unclean or food inspections haven't been up to par, they have but they really should invest in a very deep cleaning of the rafters and thereabouts. It would go along way. Visited both Baccos in the last three weeks. It's near work and some one always want to go here. The pizza is often floppy. But I feel like the ingredients are good. The service is spotty. For example I literally had to get up and go to a table full of servers hanging out to get a refill on an ice tea. Split a antipasto salad and an eggplant parmigiana last visit. Both were good. And they split the eggplant in the kitchen with out asking!! I eat here way to often to say it's not good. But I always leave feeling it should have been better. read more

This is a favorite lunch spot, but our family dinner tonight was pretty underwhelming. I had chicken parm, and the cutlet was decent, but the sauce was so runny/watery! It also lacked flavor. Our daughter ordered gnocchi (her favorite) with vodka sauce. She said the vodka sauce was good, but the gnocchi was dry and bland. Our other daughter thought it was ok. My husband's chopped antipasto salad was good (it always is!). For about 80 bucks with tip, it was a disappointment. There's not much to it inside but the food is good. I got the linguini fra diavlo and was surprised at the large amount of seafood they put. The spicy marinara was flavorful but I didn't think it had a kick to it. The veal dish had a Chardonnay Rosa sauce which was delicious! I really wanted to write this review for the cannolis. These were THE BEST cannolis I ever had in my life. I'm very critical with desserts but the cannolis exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend! Ordered 3 cheesesteaks to go. They were usually decent and our favorite cheesesteak place no longer exists. Order was wrong and the cheese steaks were terrible ! I am not that picky .... Trust me..../ but my husband, grandson and I all found d them inedible. Very greasy, soggy, grease laden rolls Cheese on the bottom did not help the sogginess. Flavorless. I understand it's a hard time for restaurants and everything but this restaurant probably does 70% take out normally so I feel I can say this as I never write bad reviews- but tonight's dinner was particularly awful. Eggplant pomadoro, which I've had before and then it was the best I've ever had. Tonight It tasted like a soggy rag at best. Absolutely awful. Somewhat of a Doylestown institution for the last number of years, Bacco is ALWAYS packed at dinner time. A long line for tables and a long line for takeout. There's a reason. On my most recent visit with my parents & sister, I ordered the Chicken Rustica, which was delicious. The pairing of the olives, capers, peppers and sausage with the chicken and sausage was great - tangy and salty. It was a big portion, so I saved half for lunch the next day. In the past, I've tried a number of their pizzas - my favorites being the Quattro Satgione and the Buffalo Chicken. i love bacco bistro. it is a little hidden nook in doylestown. i love the drunken gnocchi and the linguine with clams. but recently we tried the drunken brooklyn pizza. we started with a personal to try it out; i may have picked it up a little late because it was already on the cooler side but it tasted so good. my bf and i asked ourselves is this supposed to be a cold pizza?! we got it again normal size and this time it was hot. i still liked it, but my bf actually preferred it as a cold pizza. so both ways are delicious! it is a must try! read more

I order from Baco Bistro regularly and generally enjoy the food. However, I was rattled during my most recent visit. I ordered a pizza and chicken wings. Pizza was good as usual. While watching the cook transferring my wings from stove to take-out container, he dropped two wings on the floor. Unbelievably, he picked them up off the floor and put them into the container. I called him out on the spot ... but he tried to deny that it happened! When I complained to another gentleman handing out orders, I was given a separate order belonging to someone else. Bacco's Bistro - Doylestown, PA Food Great, Management Poor, & Food Prep Staff WERE NOT wearing masks. I'm a big fan of the food at Bacco's, sadly, my pickup orders are often cold, not as ordered, and I typically have to wait an extraordinary amount of time in line to pick it up. In fact, tonight was the worst example of this. I placed my order and when I asked what time it will be ready I was informed 35 to 40 minutes. I arrived 25 to 30 minutes after the order was placed and waited another 30 minutes outside the door and another 15 to 20 inside the restaurant to pay, then another 5 minutes to hand over my receipt to receive yet again the wrong order. Not only was it the wrong order and the food cold, but the food prep staff were not wearing masks. For all of us, who frequently visit the restaurant you understand how busy the kitchen staff is, especially at certain times and on certain days of the week. You also understand, that the food prep staff works in a tight space with heat producing equipment, and often are perspiring when cooking and prepping orders at a very fast paced. It's for this reason, I am requesting management to do right by customers and staff and work on resolving this ongoing problem. Tonight, I had to stop myself from calling the health department. It's one thing, cold pizza, it's another thing pizza that may be infected with a virus. By the way, none of these should be acceptable to management nor should Bacco's loyal patrons be subjected to. I know, we all expect to have to wait to pick up on a busy night, however tonight, like several other nights (those previous nights Bacco's has been opened during COVID-19 too) management could have stated on the phone, expect a long line for pickup. Yes, I might have cancelled my order, but at least I the patron would have had the power to decide to arrive early or not. More so, the food I ordered for the rest of my family from another restaurant could have been picked up later and still have been warm. Point being - protect and communicate with your patrons - it's the right thing to do! Sadly, the restaurant went from a 5 out of 5 to a 3 out of 5, mainly for health reasons, working conditions, and for it's consistently in serving the wrong meal, at the wrong temperature to the wrong person who patiently waits based on a reputation that no longer applies. We came here on a Friday night during lent and it was packed! We knew that was a good sign that this place must be good as only 1 lady in our group of 6 had been here before. Fortunately for us we made a reservation so we were sat right away. Our appetizers came out sooo fast and everything we ordered was extremely hot and delicious! Our server Michelle was awesome. This restaurant would be something I think the Diners Drives & Dives show should feature on the Food Network channel. The wings have several different flavors to pick from and reasonably priced . I would enjoy picking some up for my lunch break or bring some wings and other items home for takeout. Many other people would enjoy eating out at the restaurant . It will work out better sometimes because I commute home the other turnpike to get home which is farther away. read more

So I'm visiting family here in Doylestown and my uncle immediately said we had to go here. I tried the drunken brooklyn and the Brooklyn slices: really good and I imagine venturing into Incredible territory when fresh. For dinner (they eat there often and love the place, so I'm only going to share my meal) I ordered the chicken parmigiano. It's my belief that any italian place that cant nail this dish probably isn't very good. Well, this chicken parm was GREAT. Especially compared to most of the places in Massachusetts. I ordered it with linguini instead and definitely didnt regret it. What a wonderful experience we had at Baccos. We had our son's rehearsal dinner there. The food was excellent and plenty of it. Erica, the wait staff and cooks we're very accommodating. They all made sure that we were satisfied with the food. They were all very attentive to our needs. All our guest complimented on our food choices. The chicken francaise was so tender and the rigatoni vodka was excellent. But then again, everything was delicious. I would definitely come back for dinner. read more

I diligently read through the reviews for Bacco and made the decision to have dinner here based upon the mostly high remarks and comments. Seated just before 6 on a Saturday night and within 10 minutes the "waiting area" looked like a tour bus just pulled in. There were people standing in the main walkway, close enough to feel like they were hovering above you watching you eat your meal. I'm not a mannequin, I am not eating my meal to be on display, I don't need your eyes on me. It seemed strange that there is a lack of a formal reception or seating area for diners to wait for a table, so they just stand there like corralled cattle waiting for feed. I read a lot of complaints about service being too slow, but nothing about service being too fast. My daughter's dinner arrived just after the appetizer and the server said "the kitchen likes to get the kid's meal out quickly." I could possibly understand that if my daughter was under 3 and they could see that she was growing impatient, but at 11, she has the ability to wait for her food to be served. I didn't request her meal to come out first, they took it upon themselves without asking. I could go off on a tangent here about parents not teaching their children about proper dining etiquette, or state that my daughter knows that you wait for everyone at the table to receive their food before you begin eating your meal, but I'll save that. Dinners were consumed without further incident, but as I was taking my last forkful, the server came to the table asked if anything else was needed and left the check. Never came by first to ask about coffee or dessert, again, just assumed. Never assume, I thought that was a pretty basic rule in life, but I'd be assuming that-right? I'll comment and say that the portions are large, perhaps that is the only positive to my review of Bacco. But that's where it ends. I asked for containers to pack up the leftovers and as I was transferring the food from plate to aluminum foil dish, the busgirl was clearing the plates as I was placing them back to the table, swiftly taking them away before they even had a moment to rest. Leave the dishes until the diners are completely finished, not still trying to pack up the remaining food and taking away the dishes the second they hit the table. Again, that rushed feeling-which as a diner, I don't appreciate. From start to finish, the meal took 40 minutes, which I guess one could say was a blessing after consuming a "meh" meal. The restaurant made it feel as though they wanted you in, fed, paid and done to get you out the door to serve the next party. It felt like a crappy chain restaurant, which this place definitely had that vibe. If you're in the mood for Italian, keeping spying around Yelp, you'll find other restaurants that will meet this need without feeling like you've sunken low enough to eat at an Olive Garden-like establishment. read more

Ordered pizza from here thinking it would be good because I do like and enjoy other items from their menu. In addition, the bread they give you before your meal is so so good. BUT we got there and only had a view pieces of pizza to choose from that looked like they had been sitting out all day long. The pizza was tasteless, cold, it had no flavor and was not enjoyable in any way at all. We tried 3 different kinds of pizza and they were ALL bland and flavorless. I have passed this place for the past couple years and have never gone in but had a few minutes today and decided to give it a try..... The restaurant is open with the cooking exposed on the right as you walk in and it smelled great. The reason it doesnt get a higher rating started as I walked in. I wasnt greeted by anyone and wasnt sure if I should seat myself or wait for assistance; if I didnt seek someone out I would still be there. I was told to grab a seat and someone would be right with me; I good at following instruction and did just that and then waited.....and waited. In fairness they had a large party in the back that was keeping them hopping but I had to go back to the counter and waited again for anyone to acknowledge me....and waited...I finally waved down a waitstaff member who told me they would be right with me, I had already grabbed a menu and been there by now for more than 15 minutes. I told him I knew what I wanted and ordered it, he was pleasant and helpful and apologized for my having to wait. I was appeased and went back to my table and waited.....and waited......it took another 25 minutes for my lunch to come and I was again apologized to. I can tell you it was worth the wait. I ordered Chicken Rustica; a nice chicken breast in a bed of angel hair smothered with cherry peppers, capers, olive oil, olives and sausage. It was a taste sensation and I think at 12.95 it was a really good value. I would love to try it again for dinner and it is a BYOB; based on my meal today dinner could be excellent and as a BYOB would represent a nice meal out but my fear is that our trip here would be all we have time for. I did talk to a friendly member of the waitstaff and asked them if they were understaffed today (to give them the benefit of the doubt) and was told "no" I pointed out to them that I had counted 18 people who had come in and left because they werent greeted and didn't know what the protocol was here. I was told that the person running the shift didnt leave the register area which is 50 feet from the front door and no one was approached as they entered. I HATE bad service, in this case it was caused by a lack of staff and a lack of a greeter or hostess and add a few more people on the floor so we can get in and out; especially at lunch. No one has that much time for lunch. I feel that if they became more attentive to the customer they would be deserving of another 1-1/2 stars. It's your call Bacco! read more

What a strip mall gem this place is! Get the Old World Pizza if you are looking for a memorable food experience. I work in a pizza shop myself, and still crave Bacco's Old World Pizza with sausage, onions, and mushrooms at least once a week. You have to order a pie in order to have the "old world" dough, so go hungry or bring a friend, but it is amazing!!!! read more

F, F, F I can't begin to describe the lack of cultural capital and training that this restaurant passes off as normalacy. The servers and staff have no concept of time for either take in or pick up orders. My waiter (when dining in) had a glazed look about him and messed up 60% of our order. When picking up an order that wasn't even started 15 minutes after the allocated pick up time, the Manager could not have handled the situation worse. Would not go back, would not recommend. read more
