My family of 6 just totally enjoyed our chartered fishing excursion with Kyle and Brandon. We took the 6:00 am - 11:00 am charter. Although the water was choppy, they made the excursion most enjoyable. We also were able to catch a very large King Salmon, the largest Steelhead Trout they had seen in those waters and 3 Lake Trout. Great job with a great crew. Dan and Brandon were on the ready at all times. If bites slowed at anytime they changed lures and depth. We caught our limit in 3 hours with very nice Kings and lake trout. Back on shore all were filleted and packaged very quickly. Capt. Kyle, Don and Brandon were very educational and with great humor! This was a tremendous trip for our family. Took a shot at a Google search and was so lucky to have found Captain Kyle. Took two boys ages 12 and 14 with us and they had the time of their lives. Caught 11 good sized fish that will keep us "swimming" in salmon for the next six months! Very knowledgeable as Kyle grew up in the area and add his knowledge of Lake Michigan with all the technology they have onboard and it's a phenomenal (and successful) experience. If I could give negative stars I would. The punch line is that the communication is nonexistent. I had called weeks in advance to schedule a birthday surprise trip for my fiancée who is a big fisherman. I chose the hotel and restaurant around the fishing trip. When I scheduled the trip "captain" Kyle said he would call a few days before the trip to confirm details. It was the night of 2 days before the trip and we were driving 3 hours the next day to get to Muskegon I had still not heard from Kyle so I called him, there was no answer so I left a message. A couple hours later he responded with an email saying the river trip wouldn't work but we could do a lake trip if I was interested. Given this was the main event of the trip I said sure to his proposed change and asked him to confirm the cost would not change and where we should meet him. He didn't respond. I emailed him again. No response. Emailed him a third time the next day (the day before the trip and I still don't know where we area meeting or if the cost changed) and called him 3 times all of which went unanswered. Finally I had enough. This was the whole point of the trip. So I found a local guide and told him my story about how Great Lakes guide service had screwed us. Captain Art with steelhead charters will be taking us out today and I feel much more comfortable that fiancée will have a good trip. But it gets worse with Great Lakes guide service... I emailed to say I hadn't heard from him and that I guess that means he wasn't going to take us. He texted me back super passive aggressively saying I guess I changed my mind about fishing and that he was charging me a $100 cancellation fee. That is ridiculous he is the one who changed my original reservation and could not confirm the changes with me. Save the headache and the poor communication and your time and money. I highly recommend a trip with steelhead charters. Much more professional and organized. read more

Me and my friend went with this charter and it was amazing. We caught our limit within 2 hours, very fast, and caught very large king salmon. I was impressed by all of the equipment the charter boat had and they even had equipment I have never even heard of before. They put us on the spot right away. They cleaned our fish and had plenty of meat to bring back to my home state of Wisconsin. We even had 2 fish on at one time, TWICE! The experience is just amazing. read more
