Visiting in Seabrook and had our grandsons for the day. Oldest suggested we try Back Yard Burgers. He said he's never been there, doesn't know anyone who has but has passed by numerous times so we thought we'd give it a try! We were the first ones in the door about 11:20 on a Saturday morning. We were greeted quickly upon walking in. Hostess gave us the option of booth, high top or low top tables. Had the grandkids so not sitting at the bar but it is an option for those who are of age. The space is open, clean and inviting. Lots of room and tv's! Our waitress came over immediately and notified us that they had a power glitch upon opening and that the tv's, internet, etc., is down temporarily. She stated the owner was on his way to troubleshoot. She took our drink orders and gave us time to peruse the menu. When she returned with drinks she informed us the flattop griddle was down but we they could still do grilled burgers (just not the smashed) which was fine. Moments later we noticed the owner walking in, breaker had tripped so that was a quick fix! I ordered the Big Mac Salad which was delicious. The flat top wasn't ready for the smash burgers that are typical for the salad just yet, but a grilled burger was fine for me! One grandson had the steak bomb wrap which he enjoyed although he said there were a few too many peppers in it for him (he's 14) but he said he'd definitely order it again. Younger grandson had a classic burger which he devoured. He said it was perfect! Husband had ordered the double smash but again, because of the issues with the flat top, they substituted two 1/4 lb patties....holy Toledo it was huge!! The star of the show was most definitely the basket of French fries! They were like little "scoops" of perfection! Imagine a great fry but in a scoop form! Now we all imagined how good they would be with chili, cheese and onions over them!! They were absolutely delicious and would say a must order when you go!! Cannot believe I forgot to take a picture of the fries! They made the best of an unexpected, unfortunate situation. Service was excellent. Been very happy with food and cervices for the past year. Only hiccup is when you order you always have to ask for the AAARP 10% discount. They never seem to know if they offer it or not. Beautiful interior. It's bright and spacious. There is an outdoor patio with benches that is dog-friendly. They serve Maine Root sodas on tap which is a plus. Our server was delightful and we noticed that the staff seems to get along and help each other out. We totally enjoyed this place ! For starters, we had the best cheese curds ever. They came topped with an aioli sauce , chives and arugula , packed with flavor for sure. We also had boneless buffalo chicken , there was so many different sauces to choose from , next time I'll get a hotter one ! The fried pickles were flaky and undercooked, and the cheese curds tasted like a sweet/undercooked grilled cheese. The chicken sandwich was fine, the wings were eh, but don't get me started on the veggie burger. That was the most disgusting, disappointing, plastic tasting burger I've ever put into my mouth. If you like the taste of burnt rubber, you will absolutely love the veggie burger. The service was good. Waitress was wonderful. Came out with cheese. They told me to keep my onion rings and they would remake. Onion rings were room temp. Not warm. His fries were no better. My remake came out after he was done his entire meal. It was charcoal. The bacon was charcoal. They used the same basket because it had stuff on the bottom the first time they gave it to me (and dripped yellow stuff on my shorts) and it came out with that same mess. They really did not give a sweet F. Someone closed the front door and the nuts and bolts came off the part that swings the door open and close. so metal was hanging down-watch your head because it's going to whack you. Many workers saw this. Every one ignored it for the 30 additional minutes we were still there. Service was terrible. Food was terrible. People don't care about their building. Certainly does not deserve the bad review it has on Yelp. The inside is clean and well cared for. Has outside dining if you're interested. There are TV screens over the bar to watch sports if you stay inside. The menu has lots of options for burgers and hot sandwiches. There is a good selection of appetizers. My review is just based upon my experience. I do hope this is not the norm as I thought the place was pretty cool addition to Seabrook. Since this was my first visit, I had no expectations, but being somewhat acknowledged as you walk in the door would have been a great start, nope I had to figure out to seat myself. Menu was simple, but if you want to partake in the daily promotions ask specific questions as some burgers are not considered a smash burger promotion or something like that was explained to me. Then underneath the napkin holder was dirty/wet which was kind of gross. Then the mustard bottle was clogged, so this leads me to believe cleaning is lacking a bit. A credit card fee which I did not know about until I got my check was added. I maybe incorrect, but I did not see a sign about the credit card fee anywhere. Honestly, with all that said if you want a burger I may suggest going to Five Guys down the street. Five Guys is usually consistent. Always clean and no gimmicks to confuse anyone.
