They are happy to work on "regular old bikes" regardless of where they were purchased. The technicians communicate well, they are resourceful, and they are conservative (i.e. they're not trying to upsell you; in fact they will talk you out of doing unneeded work). A minor downside is that their system only orders parts once a week, which can mean some delays if you need parts. The pricing seems very fair as well.

I'm writing this review to shout out Froy in the bike department!!! He is the MVP! My derailleur was whack and he fixed it so quickly. It gets quite busy at the bike department (esp in the summer with kids wanting to get out with new bikes!). Froy also took the time to teach me the mechanics of the bike that I'll never forget since I want to try to maintain my bike myself. I highly recommend becoming a REI member if you aren't already one! Amazing perks such as discounts all the time and you get a return warranty up to 1 year instead of the 90 days. I also like their credit card which gives you 5% back! If you already know you're a regular customer for REI, why not! You'll also get higher cash back on full priced items too. Also just FYI they do not supply bags at check out! So bring your own bag to haul away your purchases!

On my visit this week I called ahead to and confirmed proper staff avail, and headed down to purchase my range ammo. The bad news is they were out of most things on their email savers coupon. The good news is these two staffers ( manager and trainee ) made the purchase kind of fun. The manager assured me that the stores are hiring more people and that ammo sales people will be on duty more often. And I did get a July 4 discount. All good. After debating on two different bags I chose one that was listed from their website and Erica had it transferred to the store for me. I then sat for several minutes waiting for assistance with a return, only to be spoken to in a dismissive manner once someone finally approached me. There were only two customers in the store at the time, so the lack of service was especially disappointing. Afterward, I followed up with my SA, who has always provided excellent service, and my concerns were escalated to management. Unfortunately, instead of taking accountability for how I was treated, Salvador responded with an email attempting to justify the behavior by implying the team was busy assisting others. That explanation simply did not reflect the reality of the situation. I responded respectfully, emphasizing that accountability matters and expressing hope that this could serve as a learning opportunity for the staff. I also clarified that my experience should not be attributed to high traffic when the store was clearly not busy. I never received a response. At this point, I question how thoroughly my complaint was actually reviewed. It feels easier for staff to claim they were occupied than to acknowledge poor customer service and address it honestly.
