My upfront $250 "inspection and minor repairs" turned into…read morealmost no repairs, a $3,725 estimate (not including all of my requested work), and one of the most unprofessional customer service experiences I've ever had. Owner BURNIE LENAU denied what he had documented in writing, raised his voice during our conversation, and ultimately hung up on me when I tried to resolve the issue. Before scheduling, I explained exactly what I needed repaired and specifically asked whether the $250 inspection included minor repairs such as repairing broken sprinkler heads, repairing drip irrigation, and addressing my leaking spigots. Burnie told me yes and later emailed a written summary that specifically included "replace spigots" and "repair drip system as needed." The technician arrived on time and was courteous, but he told me he could not repair the leaking spigots, did not repair my drip system, and did not repair or cap my broken sprinkler heads. After nearly two hours at my home, the only repair completed was turning off one unused sprinkler head with a screwdriver. A few days later, I received a $3,725 estimate that didn't even include replacing the leaking spigots. To make matters worse, a friend later fixed every leaking spigot by simply tightening them with a wrench. When I called Burnie to discuss my concerns and request a refund, he stated he never said he could repair or replace the spigots even though his own email specifically states "replace spigots." He became confrontational, denied our earlier discussions and the written scope of work, raised his voice, refused to provide a timeline for following up with his technician, and ultimately hung up on me. He later refused any refund. I understand that not every repair can be completed during an inspection. My disappointment is that I paid based on a written scope of work that I don't believe was substantially performed, and when I tried to discuss it professionally, I was treated in a way I did not expect. My advice: DON'T hire them, but if you do, get every promise in writing, ask exactly what the inspection fee includes, and don't pay upfront unless you're comfortable with those terms.

This company is a huge disappointment. I needed a sprinkler valve repaired. They charged my CC $400…read moreover the phone before they came out to evaluate my problem. That should have been my first clue that they were crooks. Then the geniuses they sent over-glued the valves with blue glue so much so that a portion of it broke off and clogged the system and I actually tipped these guys. I had to call someone else to fix it. Do not use these people. Wish I had read reviews because something similar happened to another unsuspecting soul.

Early Bird Plumbing - New piping!

Not once, but twice in two months does Early Bird Pluming come to my rescue!…read more I'm the property manager of a 14-unit apartment complex, in which 11 units get their water heated through a central system. The system was two giant water heater tanks that held 120 gallons of water each and weighted about 1,500+ pound filled. In early May, one of the tanks broke down and instead of storing water, was gushing water out of the tank nearly flooding the riser room where they are housed. The other tank just stopped working due to an faulty ignition error where the pilot would just not ignite the gas. I was able by sheer guess work to shut down the water and I called multiple plumbers, but none were available, seemed competent or even wanted the business. So I contacted the support number for the water tanks and they referred me to several nearby plumbing companies in Sacramento that were verified vendors. The one I picked was EMC Plumbing which is now called Early Bird Plumbing. The reason I picked them was because they had the best reviews out of the bunch. They sent a tech named Cody who was very personable and listened intently on what the issue was. After evaluating the situation and looking at the options Cody and his company provided, the best decision was to go with a tankless system. The one we decided to go with the Korean Navien brand as that's considered the best in the world. After the permitting was complete with the Sacramento city in one day, they got to work. And from the pictures attached to this review, you can just see the quality of the work and all the refitting of the pipes and fixtures that is not only functionally great but also looks great too! All this was done a within four days, which considering they retrofitted a whole new system that feeds hot water to 11 apartment units, is quite astonishing! Then just recently like yesterday as I'm writing this, one of my units had a ceiling leak and of course the plumber I contact was Early Bird and not surprisingly, all their staff was busy fixing a gas leak as good companies are always busy, but the owner Mike came out to personally help me. We found that as this apartment complex was built 10 years ago, it seemed as when they were building out the internal fixtures, one of the crew as they were screwing in a towel holder into the wall and ended up screwing into the hot water pipe too that eventually caused the leak! Fortunately, Mike was able to find this leak and got to work to fix it and it was done that day. It's rare to get one good experience with a vendor, but even more when it's twice in two months and this indicates that they are one of the best plumbing companies in the Sacramento area. I highly recommend them and with how hard it is to find an honest and competent pluming vendor, they should be your go to as well!

The evaluation to come and give an estimate was the same day, and before the plumber left, we had all the estimates for variations of work that could be done, all sent to my phone. The estimates also included a cost-savings membership we purchased, that you can pay monthly or annually to get discounts and priority scheduling on services, and it includes water heater maintenance/flush every 6 months and a whole house plumbing inspection. They are completely paperless, which I appreciate--the software they use for accepting estimates and was very sleek. Once we picked the work we wanted done, they were able to come out the next day. Eric was professional and worked promptly. When he was finished, he showed me all the work he did-- we also had our watermain valve repaired and did a great job cleaning and sweeping up afterwards. The office sent an unexpected gift for our business that I thought was a classy touch! That night we enjoyed our new water heater that was long overdue for a replacement! I've recently had my sewer line replaced by Honest Sewer and Drain, who I've been a customer of…read moresince 2023. I live in an older home (1950s-1960s) so clogged pipes are a problem and they've always done a great job on them. I also appreciated that they've made good suggestions when I've mentioned the cost of upgrading my plumbing and offered me options that made the cost more within reach. For the last call, a regular cleaning could have caused damage to the sewer line which was breaking and was full of roots, so they water-flushed the blockage instead to get the water moving and I realized, it was time to replace the sewer line before it was too late. I received a discount as a repeat customer. The whole process took less than two days. Mike and Anatoliy came out to do the work. They covered the ground with tarps to minimize cleanup later, digging was a few feet deep but confined to the location of the line, narrow to the point that they saved a favorite rose bush that I was supposed to dig out. I appreciated seeing part of the removal process and the explanation of the original sewer material, how it was installed and how that eventually led to the wear. The work on day one didn't take that long and the pipe was installed and the cleanouts were upgraded to current standards. They handled the permit and scheduling for the inspection and it was passed by late morning so that Mike could. complete the work. The whole removal and installation hardly interrupted my water use. Thank you for the quality work, your professionalism and personal customer service.
