I needed to find a plumber to replace an old and very leaky faucet, remove some unused items from the kitchen faucet area and to replace some water shut offs in the laundry area. Someone on a Reddit thread mentioned Ducks Plumbing and others mentioned other companies. I looked at reviews and complaints and the websites and gave Ducks Plumbing a call on a Friday morning. Jeff and Saul came out later that morning, took a look at what needed to be done and Jeff wrote up an estimate right there. I was referred to Duck's Plumbing by my daughter, who had received excellent service from the business previously. (See Yelp review by Alayna!). [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called Duck's about a leaking bathroom tub faucet in our rental and was able to set up a same-day appointment within a few hours of my call.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I sent pictures of the tub faucet assembly in advance, which allowed them to bring the part which was most likely the problem with them when they arrived.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They gave me a 2-hour window when they would arrive, and called to let me know exactly when they'd be there so I could meet them.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Upon arrival, Saul and the other technician took care to wear shoe booties to keep the carpet and flooring clean. Because I'd sent them pictures of the faucet they had the correct part for the repair, the right tools for the job, and were able to make the repair and complete the job within 30 minutes. They ensured the faucet was no longer leaking before cleaning up. I was able to pay by credit card and I received a receipt immediately. There was no charge for an estimate - just the cost for the repair. Major thanks to Alex and Ducks Plumbing. Ducks was doing a bigger project with a neighbor when my gas water heater happened to stop working. After troubleshooting a little bit myself, I called my previous plumber, and I was not delighted by the experience and diagnostic. On my neighbor's recommendation, I called Alex at Ducks and left a message. Alex was super professional, and let me know that it might be a few days before he could make it out. When I pointed out that I thought he might already be working next door, he was very accommodating and offered to squeeze me since he was already in the area. I'm not a plumbing expert, and Alex was very patient to listen to how far I got in my own troubleshooting so that I could at least share my thought process. Alex and another gentlemen (I believe Berto) took out some of their instruments and started doing their diagnosis of what might be happening with my 11 year old water heater. After some time, we had a conversation that created clarity on all of the options along with the risks and trade-offs. Given that I was probably headed toward "borrowed time" on the existing water heater, we then had a frank conversation about options for replacement and costs. I had recently completed some SMUD Home Performance electrification, so I had a circuit already run for an electric heat pump water heater. When I shared my preference for this, Alex's expertise also came through as we discussed what that would mean for my space and other considerations (like compressor noise). Alex's communication was fantastic, I had quotes pretty quickly for the electric heat pump water heater and a like-for-like gas water heater so that I could make a clear decision. Even better though, Alex also took it upon himself to make sure that the respective SMUD rebate would be part of the process. The work was done beautifully, and with my ability to monitor energy use for my home, I'm impressed. It's now been several weeks since installation, and I also received my rebate check from SMUD in the mail (which essentially reduced the price of the new electric heat pump water heater into the range of a gas water heater). Was having an issue with my AC. Had someone come out from ducks to take a look and after doing an inspection of the furnace in my roof (?) and checking the temperature told me it was operating fine, all which cost me $145. A few days later i'm having the same problem again so i call and leave a message asking them to send someone back out again. Never got a call back. Called around and had a different company come out to take a look and as soon as he heard the AC unit running diagnosed a faulty compressor. After pulling it out and testing it he confirmed that was the issue and replaced it on the spot. I want my $145 back but i know that will never happen. read more

Update to my review from 2/16/2017: Years have passed since my last review and there really is only one name in plumbing and heating and air I ever want to call. Ducks has done 10's of plumbing repairs, HVAC replacements and repairs, full supply line replacements, sewer line repairs and replacements, and the list goes on and on. Every single time, they bring so much value, it's incredible. First off, they care, they seem to really go out of their way to do the job right the first time and not leave anything to chance or leave anything done in a sloppy fashion. This includes entering your home, before they step inside they always put shoe covers on, which shows attention to detail. They installed a Heat Pump for me after my HVAC kept going out season after season and was rusted out. I LOVE it! I've had some questions on a few things since and called them up and got an answer from the actual person who did the work within minutes. I didn't have to wait hours or days for someone to hopefully get back to me. The benefit of Ducks in my opinion is the same person who comes out and understands your problem to determine what the proper fix is, is the same person who is doing the work. There are no "salesmen" here, just a small mom and pop company that does quality work for a fair price. I called Alex when my toilet started acting up and ended up hiring him to add a gas line into my kitchen. Alex is extremely professional and responsive. When he showed up at my house, he explained the issues I was having with my toilet. As a single woman, I've had encounters with aggressive contractors but Alex is super nice and calm. You can tell he really enjoys what he does and explaining the nuances of plumbing to his clients. After he finished the toilet work, I mentioned the gas line work and he told me he would send me a quote by the end of the day (he did!) and he did an amazing job. We contracted with Ducks to have a re-piping job done on our house which was built in 1950. At the same time we needed to find and repair a leak in our guest bathroom. This turned out to be no small task, but Alex and Alberto not only rose to the challenge but earned our trust, making us a loyal customer. Because of circumstances they ended up having to create another access point to underneath the house. And then the leak turned out to be a major issue, requiring that the bathtub be removed. Not only are they skilled plumbers but they have mad construction skills as well. They installed a whole new tub, got the walls ready for tiling and got the piping done. The entire time they explained exactly what they were doing and why. They kept in constant communication with us, and showed up on-time for each appointment. The old pipes in the house continued to present problems but they solved each one professionally and quickly. For one of the jobs he quoted us an amount but told us that if they didn't run into any issues, then the labor might be cheaper. What could have been a day and a half took only one day and true to his work he adjusted his invoice accordingly. They also repaired a heating problem we had on the first visit. Our former plumbing/heat/ac people took three tries and still never fixed it.
