Finally tried Backlot and I have to say, this place is great! Connected to the new ACX Cinemas on 204th, Backlot is a new restaurant specializing in Detroit style pizza. I must admit, I did not know much about this style of pizza before coming to Backlot. I have always been in the camp of New York style pizza over Chicago style deep dish. I was very excited to try this new (to me) style. Let me tell you Detroit style does not disappoint! While it has more bread than I thought I would like, the crispy edges combined with a higher cheese-to-sauce ratio makes for quite a delicious pie! I just had the Sunday brunch at the Backlot in Elkhorn. The variety of food was delicious and fresh. The buffet includes waffles , French toast, sausage, bacon, ham and eggs, fruit, salad, and best of all the Omelette. Mine was made to order and delivered fresh to my table. What a great place to eat. The dining area is comfortable and the wait staff were super attentive and made sure my drinks were always refreshed. First time getting takeout from this place. Ordered the OG fries and when we got home we discovered there were no toppings and they were just plain. The bread that came with the pastas was inedible. It was burnt in some areas and had a really strong burnt taste. Pasta was average. read more

I made a return visit to Backlot Pizza and was pleasantly surprised with excellent service, prompt appetizer service, and fantastic main entrees delivery. The server was very professional and provided the type of service I did not receive 1 month ago. Perhaps it was the seating location, we were seated at the bar the last time but regardless the pizzas were excellent, the Korean Chicken wings were 'spot on and at the end, the manager came by and asked how our experience was? I'm raising my score up to a 4 star from a previous 3, hoping my next visit will raise the score to a 5 star ranking. read more

Love thick pizza. The biggest fan of Chicago style deep dish, but also becoming a big fan of Detroit style deep dish. Backlot has way more than pizza. It has a great selection of food to satisfy even the picky eater in your family. We have gone to eat there before a movie, for special occasions and just because. They also have a Sunday brunch there and we have been quite satisfied. Although the last time we went they were a bit short staffed and did not have the omelet station. Food was good and plentiful with a good balance of breakfast and lunch items. Ambiance is good and they even have live music. It's well worth it. read more

If you are coming here for good service, it's not the place - unless you are looking to run up the tab - then they might pay attention to you. Not to mention you have to pay a $3 upcharge for a gluten-free or vegan option, so if you have an allergy that is out of your control, don't bother coming here. The waitress could care less about our experience and I'm the type of person to never bother a worker even if there's a problem, but a simple "Thank you, have a great day" goes a long way compared to ignoring you and sparking up a conversation with the other rich couples who you want more money from. Have stopped by 2 times. Always plenty busy! Certainly outperforms the original impression of a movie theatre restaurant. The pizza is unique and not what I would go for if I wanted a traditional pizza but it definitely has its own merit. The crispyness of the crust is my favorite and their ranch is great. I tried the cacio and Pepe pasta the second time around, and was kind of disappointed. It seemed like it maybe sat while waiting for the rest of the meals at my table and arrived no longer as a creamy sauce. Good tasting water & cloth napkins. Beer, wine & spirits is one of the biggest selections I've seen in a pizza place. Seriously, don't miss this place. It's so sad how this place has fallen. On our recent visit on a Sunday during their happy hour we ordered some wings and a Detroit Classic Pizza. Wings were good and presented nicely. It took about 10-15 minutes for them to bring his food out with nothing provided to tide him over while he waited, so we were a bit of a hot mess express on the patio. Family pizza night so we ordered three varieties: Pepperoni, BBQ Chicken and Buffalo Chicken. This is Detroit style: Thicker crust baked in a rectangular pan. Each variety we ordered had a great cheese crust on the side - a Detroit style specialty. The Buffalo chicken was done right - tangy, spicy sauce and bleu cheese along with more traditional cheese. The pepperoni had the traditional three stripes of tomato sauce with complemented great cheese mixture. The BBQ chicken was a fan favorite of one of my kids. If you go, be forewarned that Google maps currently sends you to the wrong location - it's located next to the ACX Movie Theater off of 205th St, between Q and Harrison streets.
